Does spoiling have a better opportunity in obataining MATS? As opposed to drops.
I could either use my artisan with a lvl1 spoil to obtain a MAT for weapon creation or I could use my higher lvl character to obtain the MAT through regular drop.
Which would I be better using to obtain the MAT i need?
IN basic mats it goes like this: Manor > Spoil > Drop
If you know what you are doing a BH can get you a lot of mats together, a warsmith can still spoil with his lvl 1 spoil, as Nameless even had big success with that.

hehe yupp spoiling with my Artisan works ok i guess
spoil land rate for a high lvl ws is 1 in 20
after you land spoil you need to hope that you get the item
chance of spoiling a mat at high lvls as a ws could be in the thousands
:D i'll specify what i'm after :) .....
oops can't remember its name lol. It is part of a D grade staff and i'm looking for a head piece for it.
I know what drops it but the drop seems fairly rare when i'm hunting with my higher lvl nuker.
Shall I lvl my artisan more in order to lvl1 spoil it instead?
You will lose money crushing that for crystals - although for practice, go ahead if you can afford to waste the money. :/ For key mats spoil, where available, is always better than drops.
In theory, if she gathers everything theself(mats and recipe) mthen they will only make money from crafting and crushing it, however time elsewhere could have probably made more, at least it is something for them to work for.
No, you don't compare it to the money you spend you compare it to the money you would have gotten selling the mats instead... or you wind up with a way skewed picture of the price.

I understand were you are coming from :)
I have plenty of mats stored up in the warehouse and I should be planning on saving them for future price worthy creation :)
A lot of this is hypothetical and gotten a bit off topic lol.
here it is...
an artisans' lvl1 spoil against a drop for anything but a basic MAT i.e. weapon/armour pieces.
What would give a better probability of the item dropping? The lvl1 spoil or just it dropping.

Seems like every other drop rate in game.. atlest for me.
Just curios. is it possible to enchant your spoil skill later on so you can get a decent spoil rate as a WS?
Keep in mind that a mob has 2 different treasure tables. There is the table that dictates what the mob will drop to anyone, regardless of class, when it dies. Then there is the table that dictates what items the mob has a chance to spoil to a dwarf.
Sometimes, for some mobs, these tables are radically different, and sometimes they are very similar (excepting the chance for an adena drop, these never appear on the spoil table). In either case, no one character has a better chance of getting an item off of the "drop" table than any other. Obviously, only dwarves have a chance to get anything off of the "spoil" table.

FALSE.
In any group where spoil is 'shared' in any shape or form, each member has the exact same chance to get a 'spoil' as the dwarf doing the actual spoiling.

so if you were given a ferrari and then sold it the next day for 100 bucks would you be happy with that profit?
if you found a lump of gold worth $500 on the ground and turned it into a necklace that you sold for $10 is that pure profit?
