"How dare they banish me! Dont they know who I am? Im the Emperor of Evil!" Dr. Chaos roared as he paced across the room.
Sprockets the Cat yawned and slouched in his chair. He had heard this tirade many times before and knew it was best to not interfere.
"This new golem army of mine is almost finished. Theyre just missing something to make them complete. If only I had enough assistants to gather what I need, but no one will help..." Dr. Chaos stopped in his tracks. He whirled around and pointed a plump finger at Sprockets, who bolted upright.
"You there. Faithful servant, um..."
"Sprockets."
"Yes, right, Sprockets. Ive just decided to change my ways. I dont want revenge anymore. I just want to be loved."
The cat stared at the Dwarf.
"Look, Sprockets, only an army of mechanical golems could love someone like me," Dr. Chaos continued. "I need hearts lots of them gathered from the monsters that inhabit these lands so I can give the golems emotions. Only I cant get the hearts by myself, and I hate talking to people. I need you to go to the villages for me and recruit some kind adventurers looking to help a poor old inventor out."
"Theyre not going to help you for nothing," Sprockets pointed out. "You do have sort of a reputation."
Dr. Chaos looked around the room, and his eyes fell upon a dusty treasure chest. "In there youll find some scrolls and potions that you can offer them in exchange. But they have to play a game if they want to have them."
Sprockets the Cat shrugged. Dr. Chaos wouldnt be a mad scientist if he simply handed out prizes, after all. The cat stood and started making preparations to leave.
"You must be swift, cat!" Dr. Chaos snarled. "We only have a short time to gather the hearts. Begone!"
Change of Heart
Sprockets the Cat, the faithful servant of Dr. Chaos, is in the villages of Aden and Elmore to play a game with adventurers who collect and trade pieces of hearts. Nine different heart pieces will drop from monsters throughout the world. Collect one of each piece in order to try your chances at a rock, paper, scissors game with Sprockets the Cat.
After each round of the game, you will decide if you wish to continue playing or accept the prizes for the current round. When you lose, the game ends. Your prize is determined by how many times in a row you win. Losing will reduce the quality of your prize, so dont be afraid to quit while youre ahead!
Prizes
Sprockets the Cat is offering the following prizes:
<ul type="square"> Win one time - 10 consumable Potions Win two times - 1 Blessed Scroll of Escape Win three times - 1 Blessed Scroll of Resurrection Win four times - 2 Scroll: Enchant Weapon (Grade C) Win five times - 4 Scroll: Enchant Armor (Grade B) Win six times - 1 Scroll: Enchant Weapon (Grade B) Win seven times - 3 Scroll: Enchant Armor (Grade A) Win eight times - 1 Scroll: Enchant Weapon (Grade A)Nobody goes away empty handed! All participants who do not win a game receive a consolation prize.
Remember, do not talk to Dr. Chaos unless youre looking for a fight! Sprockets the Cat is the only one willing to play the game with you.
The event begins on February 14, and hearts will stop dropping on February 18. Sprockets the Cat will remain in the villages until February 27.
Since winning may provide enchant scrolls of grades higher than D, is it correct to assume that getting the items to drop will be more difficult for someone not using C or higher equipment?

That is not usually the case at all. Event items usually drop from all monsters. If the mobs are dark blue or dark red, the drop rate may vary, but mobs in your level range should drop event items at the same rate no matter what level you are.
The odds of getting the top prize in this event is worse than taking a weapon from +0 to +11. I doubt anybody will try it. The reward is hardly worth it. The first few prizes are pretty good though.
If all chances to win are 50% chance then if you target a certain amount of wins this should be pretty accurate with the currently market situation depending on server.
As you can see the most profitable is if you win 3 times. However expect this price to go down as the market is flooded with BREZ and the price drops to 400-500k per BREZ. Having said that it's a good thing prices on BREZ are going down but its foolish to try to win a 4th match.
No it's not. It's 1/2. Regardless of what you pick, the NPC will either pick an item that will beat you, pick an item that will lose to you, or you'll tie (in which case you replay?).
Well, depends how the game works. Are there 2 wong answers and 1 correct one? Or is it acually like a game of RPS where a there is 1 win, 1 lose, and 1 tie option?
I didn't know there were multiple versions of RPS. If you get Rocks, Paper beats you, you beat Scissors, and Rocks is a tie. If they make it such that Rocks vs Rocks is a loss, that's just wrong.
Well, it's rock, paper, scissors.
1/3 win
1/3 lose
1/3 tie
Yes, but I would have to assume that the 1/3 tie is tossed out, since you neither won nor lost. Your odds of winning and going on to the next game is 50/50.
It also said that you still win a prize even if you lose. Depending upon what that prize is, it may be worth playing until you either lose or get to lvl 8.

Maybe your winning streak gets downgraded on a lose. Don't know what happens on a tie though. Logic would say nothing but you never know.
Reckon this event should have started the day after Valentines day, if anyone ignores their RL partner to do this event on day 1 then they need an arrow shot through something.
I like the idea of the event and it should be fun, just a bit ironic how its set up. At least in Australia it starts the day after Valentines day, so no kick up the clacker for me from the missus.
i keep friggn saying that lol
every single event survey results in ppl saying it was too short
except for crap like the christmas event which obviously is too long ><

Consider it a test of your relationship ;)
And some of us don't celebrate valentine's. But that doesn't stop me from farming items :D

Don't get me wrong, I like events. They give me something else to look forward to when I login, but... Why always with the cat? I think for this one Dr. Chaos should have sent out one of his many mechanical golems!
The storyline says people are scared of Dr. Chaos so a golem going out would look like an advanced scout.
Anyway, I hope this event starts before 11PM on the 14th. Also wondering what kinds of potions you can win on 1 win in a row. GSAP? GMHP? the lesser variety? Or more likely random item?
I don't celebrate the Valentines day, so it doesn't matter to me when it starts. I hate gambling games too, I never have luck in this. :( But I'll try.

My RL partner is so far that he can only send me flowers (instead of being here) and can... tadah, only 'be' with me in game today (if at all - we will have to see about his connection). Wouldn't it suck if the event started late just because some people can't sort out their priorities?
It's not that difficult to say 'eh, I have more important things to do' and ignore an event. People need to take a bit more responsibility for themselves...

Well, at least this time they included a weekend into the event. There were also "collect several hundred of this and that" events which only lasted a few weekdays, which meant that many players had to stay up until the early morning hours on a working day if they wanted to get a meaningful number of event items (since people with a job usually can only start playing in the evening)...
It's neat the 9 pieces make the image of a large heart if combined properly in the inventory. So here's how to do it. Put hearts 1,2, & 3 on the top row of inventory and fill the next 3 items with junk. Then on the next row put pieces 4,5, & 6, then fill the rest with junk. On the 3rd row put heart pieces 7, 8, & 9. Now take a nice screenie of your big heart!!!
event seems great
reasonable drop rate with good rewards and no problems haveing 500 of one quest item and 2 of another
i havent handed the stuff in yet because i always do that at the end of the event but word from my clan is i can look forward to heaps of cool stuff ^^
I got 2 EWC's and a bunch of buff scrolls thus far. I'm pleased to see it only cost 1 set of heart peices to play until you lose. I was dreading the possibility that each game cost a set, but was pleasantly surprised.
That's very typical for cats in L2 - look at the one in Devil's Island. Sneaky kitty.
And yes, I LOVE this event so far :D
Though I haven't won anything but buff scrolls and pots. I think I'm gonna give up on the EWA and settle for Brez.
I have only been able to play last night for about 1 1/2 hours. I was able to complete about 10 hearts and win a fair amount of loot. I'd say it's going to go quite well for me.
