Running around the lower level areas, I now see why there was that dwarf invasion in DE lands, as the fields just outside Dion were infested with thier older siblings. After having my fun with them (training, healing/buffing mobs :D ), I got to thinking about what class, with the current game mechanics, in the lvl 40-45 range, would be the best option to have some fun with the little rascals.
Remember, that although the drop rate for being red has been reduced to that of the drop rate for being white and killed by a mob from C4 times, there is always the chance that you can drop items when red. With that in mind, I was wondering just which class isnt so gear dependent, even in thier low 40s that a perma-red character would actually be fun, and not be a chore/money sink, to re-equip after a good day of fun.
I'm personally thinking a summoner class. Thier only true dependancy is D crystals (1 crystal summon is generally used for PvP by all 3 classes), and a set of robes or light armor for casting speed, which can be the lowest NG available in store. For effecient killing runs, add in some beast shots (ss and bsps), as well as a NG weapon of your own with some NG bsps to nuke some, and those lvl 20-30ish rodents sould be no problem, and little adena spent. Not to mention that a summoner sould be able to xp abit with little gear to regain any lost levels.
Go dagger and hold on to your starter gear...specials work and do ALOT of damage with the starting dagger, and you cant drop it if someone decides to kill you and oyu have 100+ pks.
Speaking from expierence, a 45 Dark Avenger works really well. All you need is a noob weapon (I have my starter sword which I have yet to drop) And a bunch of D crys that I leave as care packages. Drain hits those little dwarfs pretty hard, and whether or not I use beastshot seems to vary on how many hits it takes kitty to kill them.
I am sure this is the same for any other summon class as well. But yeah, I always see alot of silver rangers and archers as pkers. Mainly due to speed and the fact they still pack a serious punch damage wise with a NG bow. I think my SR with a NG bow still has like 500 dmg thanks to passives at level 63? That's kind of sick.
I'm not going to put that much effort into a lvl 60+, or for that matter, lvl 50+ pker. Just something that will take me two or so days to lvl up to a decent point to be effective against the D grade variety (and maybe C grade). Daggers seems like a good choice, since there no bow given at character creation, and daggers also get Silent Step. Good for scouting in dungeons. I think I'll make a dagger and see how it fairs.
I just hope they dont run away when the lights are turned on (auto log when red in range) like the roaches they are.
Silent Move runs out pretty fast at lower lvls, cause your speed goes down and the MP consumption is high.
For the rest, when a TH at 43 with a Crystal/CD backstabs for 2500 unbuffed on a dwarf in Brigandine high 30's then you know you can have a lot of fun pk'ing around.
I think the only reason why I mentioned a DA or archer is simply because you asked in a cost effective range. Cheap NG weapons at most would cost 45-250k if you needed to replace. I'll be honest with you, if you die to the point where you lose all your gear on a regular basis, I wouldn't recommend even bothering. Also a Pker is great for clearing out a hunting spot for a low level party in a necro/cata but now days in places like DE village and Elven Village you'll get tired long before that "bots" auto script will. You can sit and kill the same 5 dwarves over and over and over again. They are auto-scripted to return to village buff at newbie guide and come back, eventually it will flag and an enforcer will show up. And a mid level C grader doesn't stand a chance for a high level nuker or dagger who shows up to find out why his pets are not making him money.
Why do you have to kill them yourself? I would use a dwarf or an orc (both with high HP) to gather a train for them. Thump a few mobs social to the ones they are fighting, and circle around them a bit. Any other character with high speed and evasion will work too.

that doesn't always work.
how about a SwS.
they get all the good stuff, and can use low lvl dagger skill.
run speed, P df, M df, crt rate, evasion (at 58). best part is you can take that up to 55 and never take her higher. and get all of the useful skills that you need.
fastest runner in game, and can sing even with a bow (unlike BD). you get low lvl power shot, power strike, and mortal blow, and 1 lvl of UD.
A lvl 3 red char will do, as they forcelog when a chaotic char comes into their range.
And it's kind of funny to see them log back in and instantly logout.
yeah it is but is better when they spend money in Penalty scrolls the more the better. thats the reason that i train them. is nice when you have a tank that can stun the healer while the train is killing the whole group in a cat/necro.
SR's are really nasty too when they are training in a low level catacombs.
What classes skills are still usable against a white player when your red? I know SR skills are still usable, and stun shot would be good in trying to let the mob kill the toon.
Shield stun though? Wasnt that changed to only usable against a white player with a war tag? I could have sworn I tried it with a 30ish tank I deleted against a dwarf once and was unable to use it.
What about other classes usability for griefing all the uughsu and jdnshgd dwarfs out there, and making them die to mobs?
I think your original idea of a summoner is good. You can stay back farther from the action, therefore giving you time to run should someonen 'come knocking'.
And yes, keeping the starter robes would work as they are undroppable.
Plus, are you Devianne's Shaunrah? :p Then you won't have to learn a new class. ^_~
Make sure you do all the quests to get newbie shots. You should end up with 14K or near that.
Save those for pking because they won't drop. Buy shots for leveling.

Warlocks have that paralyze cubic that fire even on white toons. Just smack the bots barehanded and wait till the para kicks in.

Any skill that does initial damage can be used on a white player. Any skill that does not do initial damage, can not be used on a white player.
Its been nerfed to just a 30 sec para, but a little more effective then previously. I'm not sure if 30 secs would be enough for the soloing types, but it definetly wont be enough for the group types. I used to para whole groups back when it was a 2 minute para in the catacombs to clear the room. They always forced logged when bringing mobs from other rooms, but wouldnt force log when the mobs in the room they were in had time to all spawn. :D
And I know about the newbie shots. I've done the shot quest in EV, which gave me 6k ss. I went to TI and did the hunt the orcs/werewolf quest, which is also supposed to give shots, but got none. I'm thinking the shots quest are either a) one time deal, or b) race specific. Can anyone confirm that, and/or tell me the other shot quest for me to try out? I'm already less then 30% away from 20 after a few hours and already done with the scout quest. I forgot to sign up to head into the catas to pole my way to 40, so that'll probably have to wait till next week.

trick to this. when they log out put a single adena in their spot so you can see where they logged out at a distance. they will try to log back in periodically every minute for the next couple hours or until the controller realizes no money is being made. when they log in and curse at you in a forien language, hit 'em where it zounds. i would suggest hiding somewhere with the red in a place that allows you to see the coin but doesnt leave you completely open to view. if that fails, you can still report them for auto logging in&out simultaneously which should be obvious that it is being automated if gms looks at logs.
Yep the para cubic sounds good.
Stun isn't very reliable. I had some accidents trying to stun a bot to help a mob, I sometimes went red :/
+ it sucks your mp so you'll find it boring, very quickly.
The para cubic sounds like a good idea if you can stay white, but it probably requires some patience to make it work. And the crystals arent free, now it would be annoying to spend money and time on killing bots and getting nothing to refund yourself.
The dagger will be faster and more entertaining, I'm just afraid they will forcelog on sight (like all the little dwarves I saw in DE area when I did it some weeks ago).
ps : a dark elf dagger could be the best bet, since you can bleed a white target with the "Sting" skill.
ps2 : +1 for the most important thing, don't forget to report them :)
I had some fun with some bots in a necropolis few days ago...the leader of the group attacked me when I tryed to train them so I killed him once and the healer rezed him only to die again (he was still flagged) and hes healer went down fast to.
I have had enforcers that came and killed me few times in dwarven village area and it's funny how they answer you a on the main char when you have asked hes bots about something. Sometimes I wish I had a lvl 80 nuker to put those enforcers to sleep...
