I've heard a lot of less experienced or less educated L2 players insult my clan because we do not maintain 2 way wars with any clan. The comments are usually childish remarks about e-bravery and such. I do my best to maintain an open and upfront approach to L2 and will share our views on the clan war system:
- On Lionna my clan was at times considered the top clan on the server yet from C1-C3 we didn't have any clan wars. Why? No other clans accepted would accept a war invite from us. When C4 came out we instantly received dozens of war invites, including clans which were commonly recognized as very weak. Why? Because the C4 changes in war systems clearly offered advantages to doing such (i.e. losing 1% instead of 4% upon death).
- the current war system really doesn't encourage pvp, it encourages GANKING. What do we see nowadays? Entire 9 person parties going into VoS, Dev Castle and other areas where ppl solo or hunt in small groups. We see lvl 7x players go to lvl 5x and 6x hunting groups. They are not there to pvp, they are there to gank enemies, let's be honest. Even if you do have a 6x go into a 6x area looking for pvp, you have a pvp ready player (i.e. often a necro for example has his summon out, malaria, unholy resist buffs, etc.) vs a pve player (i.e. no summons, pve buffs, mobs on them, etc.).
- No reds :( The best individual pvp success possible in L2 is killing a red enemy and potentially earning gear. If you are at war with your enemies then you reduce or eliminate that possibility. Killing one red enemy and earning gear is a greater experience then 50 random pvp's. Wars rob us of that chance.
- What difference do wars really make? Our enemies speak to us about e-bravery regarding clan wars, yet these same clans bsoe from clan wars, they force log from clan wars, they get brez when they die in clan war, they have members detag to level up in peace so they don't have to worry about wars. We often see the same members detagged for 26 days every month only to be tagged up during sieges. How can ANY clan that does these things possibly say ANYTHING to another clan about clan wars? Just LOL.
If you wish to maintain a war against my clan you are welcome to do such. In fact I hope all our enemies do. As I have since the server started we will not maintain open 2 way wars ever. I will never fight nc soft on rules but I will use the rules to the best advantage I can. I disagree with the war system. If we see any enemy who we have war with we will make it a 2 way war, kill them, then end the war. Most of our enemies know this. After the dead enemy will complain, but those same enemies use their own bs tactics which makes them quite hypocritical.

I'd suggest you not flame so we can have a cool discussion, but if you wish to flame keep in mind I may share specific examples from your clan/ally.
