Advice for a brand spanking new BladeDancer

Player Questions Started Last reply 21 posts
I'm brand spankin new BD... (well not brand, but definitely spankin). I'm currently have:
+3 D-Duals
Comp Armor (Thanks Pop for the loaner)
Helmet
Rip Gauntlets
Boots O Power
Elven Family Jewels (from my father's side)

I'm working on trying to get some c-grade duals (more than likely storms but it probably will take good ten levels before I can afford them).

I'm currently soloing around Dragon Valley (ratmen and wryms). I do have a clan but because of the time diff (I'm in Asia, and no I'm not a BOT, but then again sometimes my wife thinks I am) I don't get to group very often.

1) TATTOOS: I was wondering if they will make a difference at my level and gear status.

2) MONEY: I can't have my computer on all day to sell drops. The same goes with manoring, same problem with selling drops... can't have my computer on all day. So, any suggestions would be helpful...

Thanks in advance..

the thing about he manor is you don't need your computer on all day :p
Find what dwarfs are paying high prices for on your server. Find a seed that rewards you for a mat that dwarfs are paying high for. Purchase it and go seeding.
If you aren't opening a sell shop many dwarfs open buy shops instead to purchase you mats.
I know alot of people who dont bother with tats until they are in their mid 50's. Although tats will evenetually be worth it, but if I were you, I would deffinatly concentrate on getting your C grade duals before worrying about tats.

Croathe is right about the manor. Its something you can do while you level. The only downside is that you would have to be online at 9pm CST if you want to cash in your crops yourself. If I might make a suggestion here: since you seem to be in good accords with your clannies, why dont ask one of them to try to cash in your crops if you cant make it at the given time. Then you can keep your mats or sell em off at Giran in buy shops. No waiting time needed.

C grade Duals: If your up to the chalenge you can craft em yourself. Take a bit of time, but well worth it. Buy the necesssary D grade swords from player or luxuary shop (or buy at luxary shop and excahnge for what you need). Make em duals with a small fee. Anyways, Im sure your clannies can explain it in more details.
As for the tats, and other dark elf fighters somehow agreed to it in some form, they are tricky to choose and somehow you find yourself better without.

Anyways, whatever tats you chosse, you are doing it wrong somewhere (that goes also for the no-tats option >.<)

Get a clan and ask clannies to vendor/hand-in for you. >.>

Tats probably +STR for a BD, that's your job after all.
cant be sure for your server but on mine +str -con are the cheapest dyes you can get
problem is cheap is a relative term and it will still costya
i never for 1 second regreted getting +4 str -4 con (dwarf) the added damage output far outways the average hp loss and the minor hp regen loss
you will also save a fortune on SS (if you use it)

the guy up there hit the nail on the head for manor
find something overpriced
manor for it
find some dorf in giran buying it
sell it
obviously you wont destroy the market like that but you can pull in a few mil a day if you work hard

and about the asia thing
it sucks man it seriously does
im in australian timezone and i will prolly never see the full force of my clan
all i get is a few greek guys an hour or so before i log :/
although it is lucky my clan has alot of greeks ^^
1) Don't mess with your stats before B-grade, depending on your overall setup you'd better wait untill A-grade. Anyway +5 Str -5Con is the most popular build for BDs, gives a nice extra punch but you will find yourself going back to town for more soulshots more often than you'd like. I wen't glass cannon (+5str+4dex) from 52 on, but it took quite some time to get used to it , some peple never do.
2) Manor if you can have a clannie sel the mats for you is the best option, selling to buy shops works also but the price difference is significant. Take advantage of the events. OE is a risky option, much like being a pro gambler, if you cannot afford to lose the item you're OEing without impacting your game, I'd stay away form it.

It's obvious that you shouldn't more than -4/5 in C Grade for a physical attribute, but why not that? It's not like your max HP is a big issue 40-52 - I died precisely *once* due to having -5 CON, and that was on a mystic after a magic crit that I probably shouldn't have received had I been paying attention.

The weight penalty isnt' *that* big a problem either if you use duals - my mystics (once again low base CON) were both using daggers, and admittedly that went fast, but while B Grade was a relief, it was never a problem. After B Grade, you'd need a *lot* of caffeine to go through more shots than you can carry with -5CON.

I think he meant that he can't be there for the manor hand in... which is what he needs a clannie for, buystore or not.
What advice do you have for a new (dark elf fighter) player who just started yesterday?
go get yourself a clan invite from the server forum that you play on
start manoring as soon as possibly
dont piggie back threads ><
Good suggestions here people. I'll have more gifts for you soon Spider ;) I've been saving up all my AA for ya :)

Depends on lots of stuff, like your gear, party and the mobs you want to fight. -5 CON at C grade will go for ~200hp to close to 300hp, depending on the level. I got under 100hp more times I can recall yeah, I would hav died with -5 Con. If you stick to green/white mobs, as many will advise, maybe it is not a problem, specially now that trains are not popular anymore, but if you prefer doing stronger mobs with small parties things may get out of hand from time to time

Then I definately did something wrong... mid C grade on my SSC usually lasted for like 2 - 3 h

He did stated "I can't have my computer on all day to sell drops." so I assume he cannot leave his toon AFK selling stuff and go to work....
Well thanks for the suggestions and info... Its really nice to see people put in constructive comments... They say that L2 is dying, but I'd like to think that L2 is refining... Losing all the crap and waste, leaving behind a pure product.

Anyway, I did think about asking clannies to help me sell stuff, but I feel like such a heel, especially when I can't really help out with clan hunts, quests, etc... because of the time diff... I'm just grateful that the guys in clan are unerstanding and cool about having me...

I did go to Giran today and went window shopping to see what "buy shops" were up to... Bones 200 - 250, CBP 10xBones, Varnish for 300 - 500... I'm not sure if this is the low end, but I guess it wouldn't hurt to try...

Again thanks for the input...

Pop - Thanks for the support...
Most 'perma-buy' shops are setup to buy at slightly to grossly under the going market prices.

For the most part I consider the materials 'base price' (twice what you can sell it to a NPC for) to be the lowest price I will sell at.

For the Market price range, I do an average of the highest prices 'sell shops' are selling for, factoring how much 'stock' they have and how many shops are buying/selling and use that data to come up with a price range that material is currently selling at. Yes it's unspecific, but a lot depends on the current market conditions on your server.

Depending on your server, the material market could quite likely be at a low right now. By now, most people have had time enough to buy/craft their A grade and demand for items above C grade is probably at a minimum as a result. Until a majority of people hit S grade or Interlude's new A grade equipment hits, it's quite likely that prices will come down enough that crafting full items will become more price competitive than selling the base mats.

As a result, your probably going to have to manor smarter or take longer to sell materials than when the B/A grade equipment ramp up was going at full tilt. That or a lot more Overenchanting will need to be done, to increase demand for replacement items.
I play kain also...I'm good friends with pop...

if you want to I can help you out any point and time (I think).

The best idea is to know what it is you want from your BD.

For Me I know I want Maj set. I will stay away from atk speed build ups because it's a waste to SS. Atk speed builds is Meant for most dmg possible as fast as possible (IE: PvP on robe uses to cancel their atks).

Crt rate > more dmg....BD's true dmg comes from crt's, so you need duals that a higher crt rate. Which works like this.

Top C: Spirit*Raid. +4.... about 20-24M on Kain.

Best B grade: there is 3 duals that add's crt rate, Tsu*Tsu (54), Tsu*Sls (52), strom*nightmare (79)....the trade off is P atk for more crt rate.

I have a +9 storm*nm, their P atk is 257.
while I think +8 Tsu*Tsu is 288. but lower crt rate. which means less chances to crt perswing.

Some people argue Atk speed builds. but for PvE that set up will cost you alot in SS usage!! (tallum heavy, Kesh*Kesh(A) or Sls*Sls(B))

DO NOT get tattoos before 61. The loss in HP will hurt you alot, and the lack of Carring SS is painful. After I got my B duals I went from carring like 5K Css to carring like 8K Bss, and my duals use 1SS per hit, while My C duals use 3 SS perswing.

Also a problem you will have to worry about is Mobs that stun. at 55+ there is no lvling spot that doesn't have atlest 1 mob that stuns. However there are places in alot of cata's where you can avoid them. (apostate, witches, devotion, branded) (if you go to Devotion at 60+, becarefull of Deadlysins/tavaren, they will harass you just for being there)

If you get tired of Catas, and want open fields, frozen lake in schuggartt is nice for 52-61.

I highly recommend you invest in greatter compressed C/B SS packages, they will cost you a lil more, but will allow you to carry alot more SS with you out to the field. which will keep you from having to waste money/time going to town, then porting back to your lvl place.

Also Buy alot of Greater heal pots (GHP's), and 5 minute HP (at lest 7) pots.
I almost never die in PvE, it's because I know how to play my class so as not to get over whelmed....unless I get really board, and I want 5+ mobs on me for a challenge.
Again thanks for the posts and advice... I guess sometimes I need to slow down and enjoy the scenery and not get caught up in "catching up with the Jones'"...

Anyway, I'll definitely try out some suggestions and look forward to C-grade... B-grade will a different story heheheh

Cya on the field....
Savian, had you 300 HP less you would have acted differently during the times where you did drop to 100.

I can safely say that the times where I died, 300 or 400 extra HP would not have saved me. The runspeed from +DEX did save me repeatedly, as can the killspeed from +STR (you gain more PAtk% than you lose HP%).
Another question just popped in my head, I see that depending on what kind of "build" you want will determine the equipment/armor and tatts you should get...

My question is, DPS... Damage Per Swing (Seconds or what ever you want to call it). I do notice that with my Dance of Fire, that when I do crit I do some nice damage, but crit's are few and far between. Wouldn't attack speed be better because you are hitting more times then at normal speed?
*Please note I do not use SS when I solo grind, trying to minize my dependency on them (for both cost reasons and playing experience... don't want to be crack addict...)

I do understand if you do use crit duals, your chance of crit'ing increases, but the key word is CHANCE... Do crit duals crit that significantly? Since I already crit a certain percentage, wouldn't it be better to swing like the Centipede (Anyone rememberThe 5 Deadly Venoms - saturday kung fu theater: http://www.kungfucinema.com/reviews/fivevenoms.htm)? Or is the speed not noticable at all?

Thanks
it's a toss up.

Same say it increase the chance cause your swinging more often. but I disagree. I don't think it does.

With a queen cat and SwS I can get up to about 324 crt rate with my duals.

The max you can get in atk speed is something like 790 at lvl 76 with +5 dex and full PP buffs. including PoF, and Fury. (with out baium ring)

I think the theory isn't as sound as they claim it. sure you can atk faster, but do you all ways have a SwS and a Warlock around to boost your crt rate, or a 78 PP/WC. you have to relay on your own self. so having your crt rate maxed out as much as you can with 58 SE is probably the most likely thing.

I'm really not sure if I explained this clearly, but I hope it makes sense!

go get yourself a clan invite from the server forum that you play on

How do i get a clan invite???
What server do you play on? You can find your server Forum and make a thread stating what kind of clan you are looking for. Most clans will want you to be at least 20+ with First class change done. The Idea is you level up as best you can, and meet people along the way, strike up a convo.

The trick to being picked up in a good clan is to be a a good member. Clans don't tend to pick up people that are shady, dishonest, antisocial, beggars, whiners, or troublemakers. As long as you don't fit those you will probably be fine.
