what would be a good sub-class for a Silver Ranger

I was just thinking about what my sub-class should be for my SR. I'd like to get all the information that I can about this. I've read up about what sub-classes I can be, but I'd like to get a little more info about what works, and what doesn't for a Silver Ranger.

Thanks for your thought ahead of time :)
And you didn't ask this is "player questions" for what reason?

play what you want, don't make us choose for you. you will be unhappy.

if you have a certain alt class that you liked; play that, if that alt was a DE, OL, WS, archer then your screwed, other wise you'd be fine!

alot of people are subing WL's and Destro's now, but that doesn't make them the best choice.
There is not really anything which "works" or "does not work" as a sub for SR (well, apart from any dark elf class, hawkeye, warsmith, overlord - those you cannot use because the game does not allow it). When you change to your subclass, only your appearance stays - everything else will be changed to the stats and skills of the subclass. So the fact that your main is a SR does not matter at all.

So the advice "play what you enjoy playing" is a good one. Of course most choose "flavor of the month" classes, right now that seems to be destroyer mainly, and necro (and HE, but you cannot choose that) - but I personally would look at what my clan maybe needs, what classes would be fun to play for me, what classes easily get a party (so I can get exp easily) and also of course what classes can reuse parts of the equipment I already have (e.g. if you have majestic light, is there a subclass which would be fun to play which also can use majestic light, or maybe at least the majestic circlet, or maybe the weapon).
A little bit off-topic maybe, but: when you subclass, do you get to learn the pre-40 lvl skills of the new class or not?
yes you do...

...i know i know...sub a hawkeye :)......LOL
Play a Bounty Hunter.

The reasoning should be obvious:

you are playing an elf. You are not allowed to subclass a warsmith. to play any worthwhile char after playing an elf for so many levels, you need to play a dwarf... which only leaves Bounty Hunter.

Orc might be an option too, altough you will have to quickly outlevel your SR with the orc subclass, to make up for all the yucky elf levels.

only a fool would subclass a dwarf lol
I disagree with that. A pole Dwarf has to be one of the quickest leveling peeps there is. I admit, I have only gotten my two to mid 40's but it just seems like they are the fastest to level.

Tyrants seem fast too (we have a few in clan) but they are very expensive to level.
Destro
~~
sub prophet cause then u can buff urself :p
I don't think there are any specifics as to what works because as far as I'm aware you take on the characteristics of the class you choose (may be wrong there) so if you go orc you will be slower than an Elf normally is.

Anyway my suggestions are:

Gladi/Necro - either of these if you still want the damage factor and both are resonably quick to level.

Prophet if support is the choice. Only reason I chose prophet is the masteries he/she has means they solo ok.

Destro/Tyrant or Bounty Hunter for something completely different to the class you play now.
i must be a fool then, cos am close to hittin g 75 with dorf subclass:-)

Wl is a much better pole class than dwarves are
Destro is about a million times better than the average dwarf
that being said thow a pole on a dorf and you can lvl fast
I suggest warcryer, It would be kind of neat to see a light elf casting those flaming chants.
A Bountyhunter subclass is a good choice for a second subclass... to help income for your Noblesse to gain better gear for Olympiad. But first subclass? Choose a Necromancer or SH. In LE case, choose Necromancer if you want to be Noblesse ASAP. Destroyer works too if you have 2box's and VR.
If you have a CH and easy buff access for a long time, do as Vent says. The SR is a good pvp class, so you might as well sub something you can get to 75 and forget if your hope is to participate in the Olympiad. If buffs are hard to comeby, consider going buffer/support classes. My motto is that everyone in a clan (that sieges) should have some sort of support class to bring to the table. If you have 2 characters and one is already support you don't have to worry about it. Play anything you like, if you are just trying to hurry up to hero, play as Vent suggests. BH is an option if you have 2box support as much as Destroyer is an option. Consider that you would kill two birds with one stone this way.

I subbed a BH. Clan needs the mats and it's a heck of a lot more fun to play than my Sorc.
I agree with Luke and Vent. Since C5 clans/ally seem to be even more important then they were for the US Market in OB. Choose a fast leveler for your second to help with noble and Oly for your clan and ally and then for your third sub do something that will directly benefit the clan.

Not that a clan geared around Destroyers/Dwarves/Support is a typically bad idea. Look at the current server powerhouse on Hindemith as example. The leadership of the ally continues to sub classes that can help powerlevel in pole parties much of the alliance or what is needed.

But in general it's going to be up to you. I switched from my SR back to my same high level Swordsinger simply because it would help my clan/ally out alot more and I did not currently have access to a out of party buffer for my SR.
I would choose a class that the clan/ally needs, that can also level at a decent speed to noblesse. If you got a sucky PVP class as main, I'd sub a strong PVP class first, then something useful for 2nd.
