Since the orignal post is locked, I had to make a new one. My friend in question has had his account banned by NC with no reason given, and they will not give him a reason until he can give them his CD key. HE DOES NOT HAVE HIS CD KEY, he bought a disc from a store and so it does not show up on plaync.com and he cannot (surprise surprise) find a CD key from 2+ years ago.
Apparently his birthday, home address, credit card number etc etc are not enough. There should be a way for NC to at least TELL him the reason w/o a CD key.
Our whole clan is pretty ticked about this. The person in question is one of our highly active members and has spent 2+ years legitimately leveling his character to 77. Please tell me your customer service can do more for him. Don't leave a loyal and legitmate customer hanging out in the cold.
You're just wasting your time posting here you know.
As they say, they don't discuss account issues with anyone but the owner, and the CD key is part of proving you are the real owner. Their rules, not mine. But that's the way it goes.

I don't consider it a waste of time to try and help my clanmate

And the other stuff doesn't? Do you recall that screw-up they had awhile back where they changed peoples passwords and a whole crapload of people were locked out of their accounts b/c they didn't remember their secret question or some other such nonsense? I know plenty of people who got back their accounts by giving their credit card info and address b/c when NC asked them for their CD keys, they didn't have them. I don't see why my friend, who is legit has been banned for no reason by the way, should not be able to get info about his account with just this info.
yea, your credit card nummber when CREATED the account will work.
well you dont realy need anything.. :/
when that reset of passwords came, I helped my brother to get his account back. He dident remember his secret question, he had bougth his serial online, and never writed it down on paper, and he dident remember what his credit card nummbers where (he has changed his credit card). so, to NCsoft its impossible to get this account back, but, nope. one single mail and they gave it back :)
(and a bribe of 500$...j/k ;)
have your friend double check the information he gave them. if he mistyped a date of something they may give him a much harder time, and rightly so. also, he should have had a unique account ID mailed to him at the email address with which he created the account. if you tell them the name of the original email address that may help some (if you give them the correct answer). all of my friends know where i live, have my phone number, and (most of them) know when my birthday is. can you see how the information you have given them so far doesnt really prove that you are you?

you go it in good faith. not for what you show as proof a friend of mine didn't have the CD key but he did have cc info and still he didn't got the account back is really unintelligent form them asking for game cd key info when he made the account 3 years ago in prelude.
the only i can say is i have learn a valuable lesson i keep every single email send form NCsoft in a folder just to be sure that it wont happen to me.
oh btw i was introduce to this game as buddy key...
Maybe your friend got caught botting? I know its a far cry to even think they check on that kinda stuff. Yet There are players that go around saying " hello are you there" or " Are you a bot?" . If you dont answer and if you dont answer to a gm, clint Eastwood said " your chhit outa luck".
I do know for a fact its a rare thing for Ncsoft to ban anyone unless its crystal clear your doing something Bad. Last possible thing is if your friend dose not have his cd-key, maybe someone else has it and reported the account stolen.
Im glad they ask for cd key. That would make sure incase my pal put my bill on his account he cant take my account with out proof of purchase :).{key code}

Well, when you make a real account, you need to buy it either as a CD key from the PlayNC store, or pick it up at the game store, correct? I've done both ways. My online purchase CD key is in my PlayNC account info, and my physical copy is printed on the back of the CD sleeve that the game came in. Neither of them have ever been emailed to me as far as I know (I'd be very upset if they were; I wouldn't want a CD key sent as plaintext over the internet anyway).
And yes, I keep the CDs and CD sleeves/cases for all software I have, specifically because I may need to reinstall and I'll need the CD keys again. I also have a small document safe which has a list of every CD key from every piece of software I ever owned. If you don't do that, I do recommend it, it can save a lot of problems when reinstalling software, you just have one list to worry about.
