We got several clans together last night to do Cabrio. During the raid, the main griefing alliance showed up with 5-6 heroes.
Afterwards a clan mate told me he couldn't see the heroes until he was almost dead, at which point, he found he was surrounded as they became visible.
As he lay there dead, one of the heroes asked something to the effect "Didn't see us did you?". The heroes seemed to expect this effect.
Does the heroe's glow, in a high lag situation, make them temporarily invisible? Or perhaps several heroes together can cause this effect? Has anyone seen this before?
I've seen it lots. They made it so that you slowly load in players to reduce lag. That means if you are with a decent sized group and they coem at you quickly there's a decent chance you won't see all of them until they're fairly close.
If I am not mistaking it is possible with regular toons as well, not just heroes. It has more to do with max characters loading onto your screen, and the delay that some load with. It is more aparent with heroes because the glowing eyesore effect takes a little longer to load.
I would surmise, though, that that disco-gone-awry glow causes them to load last, or requires far fewer of them (character models) to cause the "invisibility" effect... seriously not-cool.
It is probably a combination of slow computers and setting set to low so you cant see them at max range. Players load at a range somewhere around 4000 i think, this is lots of time for them to load up if you have your settings set to high and have a decent connection.
Quick Tip. When fighting a Raid Boss near a port spot, turn your camera angle towards the port spot. Players load faster when they are in your current point of view. Same goes for seiges and hunting in PvP areas, know the routes your opposition will take to find you, and scan them often.
If you have war tags, and your camera angle is stationary, you better be in town/clan hall. I get queasy sometimes when I am hunting, the spinning does get to you after a while.
The connection has nothing to do here. You can /target an invisible player and track his location on your radar, or /trade with him etc.
They added this "feature" in C2 for the sake of our computers/video card/memory/hard drive. When you SOE to a place with 200 ppl around in full details, your game could be frozen for a long while to load everything on the screen at once, in C1 and earlier.
Now since C2 you freeze a lot less since only the town and some players are loaded when you "unfreeze" upon arrival in town.
Must admit it has some little downside too.
I have no problems spotting heroes in the fields, the glow light up my before I even see the character model.
As already stated, it's because of loading the textures and models, together with settings and speed of your computer that cause this, nothing to do with heroes in particular.
was this on erica? if so I frapsed it. from the bishop that restore lifed cabrio's PoV! (keke)
Yes, it was Erica. I was late to raid, so I don't know if there was someone healing Cabrio. All I saw was a line of PR heroes running towards FG (maybe chasing someone who didn't glow). If your bishop came in with the heroes, then I wouldn't expect the lag effect to be visible.
we can kill cabrio in 40 seocnds with 1 party of 78s. and we can't hit the minions at 78. you guys started it before we even arrived, and I had to wait like what... 1 minute before you killed it enough that I could even restore life 30% of it?
Its just slwo computer. This happens to me where there are lots of toons around. I've ported into PvP and seen all the skills going off and not one toon 'till its done. I've also embarrased myself by runnning out of a gate that I thought was clear and was actually being camped by several enemy who didn't load on my screen 'till I was dead. No exploit here.

Its not a glitch. It bascily means your computer or connection sucks
