Some go DC for the better damage output overall, but the stun resist (and I believe extra weight?) on Maj are on a whole too good for most archers to pass up.

Your wrong Mel.
The only set thats good for HE is Maj Light, and PL, or doom light.
But if you don't care about the Evasion loss, you could try Tallum heavy for alot more atk speed.
I've seen a few SR/PW running around in Tallum light, but never seen a HE in it.
The stat bonus for DC sucks, and it weights more then Maj does, the P atk is not higher it's lower the Maj. and the atk speed is that much better then Maj. and you get no Weight bonus with DC.
Actually, I tend to disagree Deadly...I've been using a mix of DC Light and Tallum Heavy on my Hawkeye since I first hit a grade again (well the Tallum heavy I had from my BD mainclass so I wouldn't have normally chosen it, but I had it...).
I prefer the DC light mainly because I use a Soul Bow, and it feels SO slow, so every little bit seems to make a difference.
The Weight bonus I don't think is really a determining factor for a hawkeye since we get the quiver of holding, so at lvl 75 we can carry like 6500 arrows and 13k a-ss, and still not be overweight.
If you go over to l2calc you can do a stat comparison based on the gear you select, and here's the breakdown-
Gear set: patk/pdef/atk spd/evasion (based on l2calc)
DC Light: 2603/726/438/115
maj light: 2607/764/425/116
tal hvy: 2594/782/455/105
So, in the end there's actually not THAT much difference in the 3 oddly enough. But based on those and my personal setup I tend to use Tallum Heavy more because I can switch back to BD mainclass and not have to switch armor, and I have better atk speed and pdef, clan might 2 makes up for the patk deficiency of the set (I've tried using the light set on my bd a few times...it's really not good lol).
Also, if you look in to S grade (drac light) it's closest A grade neighbor is DC Light...which really is no longer "the poor man's" anything since C5 kind of almost equalized the cost of all A grade sets...
I have seen archers in DC light. But in all honesty if you can afford an A grade set of armor for your archer nothing beats Majestic. If you can't afford and have to have an A grade armor set now and can get DC light then do it.
If you don't really need it right this second and want to save up/craft Majestic then stick with Doom Light. There is nothing wrong with the set especially for pve and I know archers that use it instead of Majestic for pve and Maj for pvp.
Majestic doesn't have significantly greater PAtk than DC (thanks to boosting DEX instead of STR like DC does, not really a great stat for HEs to begin with) on any of the archers - +4%PAtk & +1STR is not far from +8% PAtk, but +4%Attack speed *is* far from +1DEX.
However, the stun resist and weight increase (which I think is multiplied into the whole Quiver of Holding deal, I do think it multiplies with the dwarf passive at least) are great assets. If you chose Majestic for its attack bonus rather than its defensive properties (weight, PDef, stun resist) you pretty much picked wrong.
The defensive properties do of course ('specially in PvP) outweigh the slight offense edge DC has.
I agree, but I am defintely not rich so the option of two seperate sets of A grade armor for an archer are not a good option. Like I said if your looking for the end game result like pvp, oly, sieges, epic bosses and the like then Majestic is probably a better choice then DC light.
More then likely as an archer your con is already close to as low as you dare go with it to the point a 76+ archer/nuker can one hit u if there is a significant level diffrence. The Majestic helps give a little better pdef and the obvious stun resist which if it comes down to a couple stuns in pvp then you'll be glad you have it.
To answer the original poster, are there archers who use other sets? Yes, depends on your playstyle. Should you use anything but majestic? Probably not, if I still played my SR I would love to run across a HE using DC light and minus all that con. I might even win if he doesn't snipe.
Sooo.... DC light is a reasonable choice despite the weight increase of majestic and the extra mp. Atk speed i preffer and DEX TATS can always be used can't they?
DC has para resistance and majestic has stun resistance?? Are theses the same?
I have seen some archers in DC light. I guess their mains are daggers, so they use their DC for their sub archers as well
(dagger PvE armor = DC light)
Crits make or break fights. Attack speed directly affects how often you crit, as does accuracy. Dex affects both of those AND crit chance. As an archer, you already have incredibly powerful crits. The defensive bonus of Majestic is only effective if you're being hit. If you're not being hit, then what's the worry? Run and gun, that's how an archer survives. Run and gun.
The defense IS important to archers, because a stunned or dead archer can't do their job (in PvP - in PvE it's a different thing, but then, who wants to buy PvE armour that only offers a tiny advantage over their PvP armour?) killing people. Can't really run from someone with the same range as you.
Drac is rarely a disadvantage to me even without boss jewels. Especially when you fight highly buffed archers, they rarely stun, but try to kill on a crit instead. The other classes that stun isn't a real problem since they don't have the damage to kill me.
All that doesn't matter anyways, since drac is alot sexier than majestic :)
