I'm a girl. (oh how interessting....)
and I'm from Cheeseland (oh no...)
And I play Lineage about 2-4 hours per day (...really!...)
I reached now lv 39 with my Elven Wizard. (yippay)
But I don't know what class I should take...(*cry*)
So whats up with these classes...spellsinger and summoner...
I heard summoner is unloved in partys, it's playing most solo and it's expensive. (sounds bad eh?)
I heard too, Elven Wizzard is good to level solo too, but its more loved in partys and it has no littl guy eating up your crystalls. (I don't know why but it sounds better, ya?)
So...now....the questions.
SUMMONER:
1.
What does this mean -> Requires 1 Crystal: C-Grade. Afterwards, 1 additional crystal will be consumed at a regular interval for 4 times. Example pls...
2.
Ele Summoner = ultimate fast killing, exp collect machine?
3.
I always read "aoe with the unicorns" ..heh? Does one of the littl Guys have mass attacks? If not. Pls explain me what you gus mean with "aoe with unicorns"
4.
Is it difficult/funny to "aoe"
5.
Equip for aoe: (right or wrong?)
in the first few lvls -> Robe with casting speed and weapon with acumen.
SPELLSINGER
1.
really good in solo?
2.
Expensive or something bad?
3.
Equip...I don't know. But I believe the Robe should be with casting speed. But you have me to tell the weapon (with sa)
BOTH
1. Who lvls faster? Sum or Spell?
2. Which is more funny to play?
1. It means that one crystal C Grade (approximately 3k) will be consumed/lost when you summon the creature, and afterwards more will be lost from your inventory or the summon disappears.
2. Does not kill that fast, but one of the fastest in 'true solo' (without outside buffs).
3. The merrow has a mass attack.
4. It is very fun, and it is somewhat risky. It is not very difficult.
5. Yes, but in the first few levels you can't really AoE yet. AoE gets doable at 48 and viable at 52.
Expensive or not depends mostly on how you hunt. A summoner could burn their fortune in 20 minutes or hunt very cheaply.
SPS
1. Really bad at soloing (compared to summoner).
2. Not as good in parties as they used to be, best for duos and AoE groups.
3. Cast speed weapon and high damage robes (Demon, possibly Zubei, NM) for PvE, high speed robes (Karm, Avadon, DC) for PvP. Most can not afford both so go only with DC.
1. Summoner, unless the SpS knows a few good live SEs and/or polers, then they're probably the same speed.
2. Summoner.
There are no stupid questions, only stupid answers ;)
I have never played a spellsinger, but I absolutely love my ES. AoE with merrow is a lot of fun; fun is increased with acumen and zerk (can do with a bishop or prophet - or overlord! If you are allied with one in your level range - but they don't get zerk 1 till 44) because the reuse timer of "hydro screw" (I snigger every time I say it :D)- the unicorn special attack, is quite slow, and more damage is always nice. I don't know if I'm just noob, but I do have to sit for mana once in a while.
And if you don't feel like doing AoE, you can do quite good on single mobs on your own. With no down time.
ES do quite good in nuker parties, but they can be hard to find. ES would probably have an easier time finding groups than sps, because they can be both DD and support, and sleep/sleeping cloud was nerfed for nukers, so sps is not as much in demand anymore.
is it like..
first summon need 4 D Crystal, unicorn disappears after a time. I summon iz again. Does it eat 5 crystals then? After 4 times summoning unicorn does it eat only 4 crystalls again<'
I really don't understand it X_X
Oh no, it always takes 4 crystals just when you summon it ... then it slowly eats up more crystals while it is there. After a time (an hour or several) it will disappear, and when you call it again, it will start by eating 4, and then slowly the others.
The aqua cubic does nice damage vs single-target mobs, but I don't find it effective at high levels. The life cubic is nice to have while soloing but unfortunately very unreliable and weak. :/
It eats a number (depending on level) of crystals when you summon it, and then a number of crystals at set intervals untill the summon expires.
Aqua cubic isn't super useful, but I like to keep life cubic up when I aoe, even though it isn't all that reliable, and it doesn't heal for a lot either. But it just might save my life should it come to that :p
This is only true provided:
1) Your opponenet is too stupid to buff
--->You nuke for 400!
(Note, to be fair this applies to WAY too many people... they will buff to the teeth for offense and skip defense.)
AND
2) Your opponent has troubles targetting you
--->Archer001 hits you for 8567!
Even with stupid opponents, you will die before landing more than 2 nukes more often than not... yes, you can spam pots all you like, it doesn't matter.
Spellsingers are bad at soloing and bad in parties because they suffer from mp management problems due to a lack of body to mind and the lowest m attack of all the mage classes. As far as costs go, they are relatively cheap up until you hit A grade. At level 70 and beyond, when soloing you need to use 3 spells to kill a green mob at a cost of 500 adena per spell (this is because mage itemization does not appropriately scale). Therefore I highly recommend not going the spellsinger route.
Exp with a nuker/SE or nuker/EE duo is still good. Not knowing any is a problem, but then, it's pretty much only summoners that don't have to know or have support classes.
Spellsingers are also excellent in AoE parties with polers (where you won't have pulls so large that the maximum penalty kicks in anyhow) where mana management is less of an issue as you can rest up between pulls.
There is generally no room for guard songs/dances against SpS, and then you'll only hit for 400 if you are too stupid to surrender before hitting. :p
I have a sps and a summoner (warlock), and well, I would pick a summoner.
nowdays summoners are wanted in any larger party in toi and dvc, and a couple of other areas. (cuz they got summon friend skill) spellsingers arent wanted at all. if you are in a good clan, I guess you can get groups with a spellsinger. if you are not, you are doomed to solo.
physics hit it on the head; windshackle (and if phantom cubic is out sometimes it triggers for a pdef/patk hit) and if it doesnt trigger spam nukes, send summon and watch archer try to kite. when he realises he isnt hitting me anymore and is focused on the summon, ive either SOE'd or he is trying not to loose full exp from a mob.
at 76+ its no different; no archer knows how to crowd control unless he has live support. in this case theres no point trying to face the everyday archer zerg; i would bsoe just because it would be more than moronic to stick around. even at a wartag. 4% - 1% no difference. no fight for you.
Exp with a nuker/SE or nuker/EE duo is still good. Not knowing any is a problem, but then, it's pretty much only summoners that don't have to know or have support classes.
Incorrect, my paladin has no problems soloing ironman.
The days of requiring support classes is gone as long as you manage to find grounds that drop herbs.
Melee solo extremely well with HP herbs dropping every 2-3 mobs.
Spellsingers are also excellent in AoE parties with polers (where you won't have pulls so large that the maximum penalty kicks in anyhow) where mana management is less of an issue as you can rest up between pulls.
stupid to surrender before hitting. :p
Note that due to recent changes, polearm parties are actually better off with another Polearm user... that or they have to pull specially for the spellsinger... Granted, if the Polearm party does not have actual polearm people in it they might actually have pulls which work.
Note that due to how Ice Wall Works, (you alternate AoE spells as they both have cooldowns even fully buffed in DC robes) the spellsinger must be up close to the targets to actually function as a damage dealer. I hope you are pulling mobs that don't stun. If all these variables line up properly, AND you have an SE/EE for mana regen, the Spellsinger may actually begin to pull his own weight. No, this isn't excel or "better than the alternatives" this is "almost worth taking".
Note that do do this you have to find or two-box a healer and hopefully BD to have VE... most of those are taken with archer parties which will get more than quadruple the XP...
There is generally no room for guard songs/dances against SpS, and then you'll only hit for 400 if you are too stupid to surrender before hitting.
Even without a buff or two AND surrender, the spellsinger won't nuke for more than 600-800 or so....
And you will still die in one shot.
This instead of:
400
400
Dead
You do
Surrender
600
Dead
I have played the class since Prelude.
Maline, you are just theorycrafting at this point.
i have a SPS level 70 now
but they are a pain to level even with outside help you can burn trough your mp's like if you have mana burn on you
partys are also hard to get at least if people know it's class
you not efficent enough to get party's (mana probleem)
at level 75 if someone who is not buffed no matter the class you will kill him if he is buffed you most likely die
Read my signature LadyDoom. These guys aren't kidding you. The SPS is about dead. Sure there are quite a few of them around, but you don't want to be one. Yes the summoner will be expensive to run, if you play the ES to it's fullest capabilty, the summoner is the most expensive toon to run bar none. But you don't have to play it that way. Also, a lot of the cost will go down once you get to lvl 56 and get the summon friend skill.
Summoners are wanted in parties for certain places because of this skill. There are places that are a pain to get to and once your there you don't want to leave. People can go back to town and get supplies (or skills) and then you summon them back. Replacement players can be summoned right to the party when someone needs to leave.
Your level 56 summons is much loved by both nukers and archers alike. It can increase casting speed (by decreasing skill re-use time) or it can increase mana regen.
You can solo effectively for hours, especially in hunting grounds were the pots and herbs drop, now that they effect your servitor as well as yourself. You can save adena by hunting mobs that you can kill effectivly without shots. Other times you may want to use shots to speed things along.
Remember when you are soloing, you're really not. It's you and your servitor, and you can kill alot of mobs faster than several other classes.
No, what I mean is that spellsingers still perform well in, for example, AoE groups as supplemental damagedealers (just like a dwarf, for example).
And no, I don't actually like (do in fact hate) being in too high level areas if I'm not being helpful (i.e. healer/buffer in a duo/trio).
Spellsingers require an insane amount of variables to be true to even compare as a "useful" member of the group.
No group wants to adhere to the pile of restrictions so a spellsinger can be marginally useful...
As for "low level = useless"... Even non-ideal classes are marginally useful even when too low for an area sometimes.
Just the other day my 5x paladin tanked four 4x mobs that were 20+ levels higher than him down while 6x dagger and 4x dorf whittled them slowly down when our 7x pseudo-tank and 7x healer died from overpull. After UD went down I expected to die... When all was said and done, my 5x paladin stood with 47 hp and 0 mana and the 7x took bres and 90% res instead of one of the 7x taking a 0% res.
Even I didn't expect the degree of the paladin's toughness until then.
(we must also consider the power of a 6x dagger...)
Said *if* I'm not being helpful. I do go hunt in FotD at nighttime which is definitely too high level for me, but I can sleep and trance there which helps out tremendously.
That's much easier done for WKs than ESs and impossible for PSs (they have to be active with NS to 'leech' in party - i.e. not leech at all).
I think I might have to disagree with you on the PS part there Maline. In a full melee party (not archer/pytan type) the PS's mass summon cubic is massively useful. Far more than my WLK's mass cubic. I have seen this at work (my son has a PS), in that type of party against HP++ mobs, you end up killing very very fast due the debuffs all landing on the mob with that many people beating on it. You get a bunch of daggers together with a tank (or not) and buffs, add a PS with his mass cubic and you will experience a massive rate of kill! Last time I saw this type of party was on 10th TOI, not sure I've ever seen those mobs go down that fast before. Ask Physics4ever he'll tell you, I'm sure that he has experienced that type of party at one time or another.
You are correct about the WLK/ES though, they work best in other party types.
with a small group maybe? most of the time the mobs are dead befor the cubics fire :/ Im not sure how the PS cubics work, maybe they are faster?
a lot of the time with even my lvl 1 phantom cubic it will fire on the first hit. then again (if i am meleeing for more than 8 seconds) at 1/4 hp. usually its the atk speed debuff that lands the first time for me. but maybe i am just lucky.
phantom does seem to have the best fire rate of all cubics but to make it worth it you need to have mobs that last a decent time, somewhere like imperial tomb or forge of gods.
ya i've never used my mass cubic in a party other than a raid party, its just too expensive and useless. But I am ALWAYS in an archer party cuz i make them crap their pants with their crits and I can just stand there buffing every 2 mins and they are extremely happy.
ahm, i have a hard leather set on my dagger ...that thing with +4 str. Shall I wear this with duals til lvl 48 and then go robe or did i missunderstand something? ^^
I think the recommended path is nuke till lvl 44 when you get Servitor Haste and then level with your Summon. Are you sure you want to use Duals? With low accuracy you'll miss a lot and waste a lot of soul shots. Why don't you try a 1-handed sword and shield or a 2-handed sword?
stick to nuking till 44, then use your summon but you dont have to give up your caster gear. its good pretty well till 52 then most people twin tank with thier summon (send in summon / debuff to pull ) and whack away.
Nuking does the most damage over time until 52 almost certainly (get cheap +INT dyes from the shop, demon set and a homunkulus sword, emp if you can get it), but use your servitor starting at 40 - who would want to nuke WITHOUT it anyway? :p
Melee is easier for hunting multi-HP mobs (like in catacombs) since MP management becomes an issue then.
Use windshackle.
Duals don't have lowered accuracy on mystics in C5, only bows and polearms do - 2H swords are still better due to better SAs.
