you misunderstand. I lose HOURS of gametime because of lag, and on top of that I now have to make up xp, and go recraft my "unique" item again....few more million adena I can't afford...*sigh*....I just want to know. What gives when I die and its not my fault?

Seriously, how unique can it be if you're just gonna recraft it?
Before Chron 5 came out there was a chance to drop stuff if you died. Many people had this happen to them during lag. Sometimes they got the stuff back, sometimes not depending on the circumstances.
In the new Chron you cannot drop unless you are either red or have 5 or more PK. If you have either of those, it is your fault if you drop regardless of whether there is lag or not as it was your choice to take that risk.
Honestly, I haven't died, I didn't drop any item, nothing happened. I'm just wasting time until the lag issue is resolved on the siegehardt server. But these things do cross my mind ya know :p
Well your mind isn't very smart considering your "what if" can never actually occur. You can't drop items dying to a mob...and if you're red solo over 5 pks, you deserve to lose items.

I get on siegehardt and commence near the hunting grounds i was the previous grind. Today there is tremendous amount of lag, and I get killed after I start xping. *BECAUSE OF THE LAG* since the lag is so horrid currently I now have to spend hours making up xp that I should already have. And then some.

My dorf was selling an S Grade +16 weapon last night (he's amazing, only level 10, crafted it all himself) and he was just about to sell it for a trillion adena, suddenly there was lag and my buyer got bored and walked away - can I be reimbursed for a lost sale please.

xp loss because of server lag=my fault? Items dropped is a way of ....well lets just say Kansas City Shuffle.
I have to spend hours regaining the xp I lost when I died becuase of server lag. This was not my fault. yet...I vent

Now, if you want to make a direct correlation between items and xp, then fine but your post was very pointed.
The answer is "no you don't".
How can you really prove lag to NC? Especially one lag spike? I suppose there are ways to monitor your connection but how can you say that "x" affects the game "Y".
Currently, for some reason (and I wrote NC support who never got back to me) I have a ping on Hindemith of 1700. Used to be about 37 or so.
This could either be an error or I really do have a ping of 1700.
Either way, most of the time my game is fine. Sometimes it's unplayable.
XP is ever flowing. Don't worry about it. Just go and grind some more. Otherwise you risk bringing the whole thing into the realm of "petty" and you don't want to do that.
The other thing is that if you feel that the game is unplayable and not worth it, vote with your wallet. It's a very viable way to express dissaproval.

Lost 6% means you're pretty low level and it should only take 1 buff round to get that back.

If it's extremely laggy and you go hunting anyway, you deserve far worse than death.
Though, if this is your scenario, you should earn the skill "Summon Bag of Hammers" in order to enjoy conversation which may stimulate your mind to greater heights (depths?).
I think that if there is lag like this that effects the whole server and freezes it for 10 - 20 minutes making everyone who was exping die they should know about it as it happens not 5 hours later. Also they should revert the servers back before that lag especially since the 5 hours after the first lag happened were unplayable anyway.

Even if it were, and everyone everywhere was complaining that the lag was making the game "unplayable", you'd have to be pretty daft to decide to risk your oh-so-precious XP and your mythical, unique, crafted item by placing yourself in a dangerous area during such a situation.
I am assuming that it is a hop somewhere on the way to the servers. If I remember right they are in Austin, TX and right now Tim Warner took over the comcast stuff in texas and is probably messing with something that is causing alot of people to lag. I could be wrong though, I could be wrong.

I dont know if you were on kain this morning but basically everything was fine then everyone that i know of couldnt move for 10 or 20 minutes so im guessing a lot of people died. After that it was just random spikes for the rest of the day untill they restarted the server. I do think it was the server though why else they restart it. Seems like it has something to do with the PTS like every time.
+2 for locking thread. The OP was obviously bored and was hopefully drinking to post this hypothetical situation.
On another note I still think destroyers should get one magic attack. That is they should be able to cast lag on their opponnents if they are a mage or archer. Now that would totally rock!

now if you said 4% thats cool because a 4% ose might only take you 5 minuets to earn back
or 5 days depending on how you look at it :/
