frenzy/guts - how does 30% HP drop work?

Player Questions Started Last reply 15 posts
finally got my destroyer to 52. any how its been fast and quick so far, as I've been poling ever since i hit D grade. i tried searching but for some reason anytime i try to use the search tool for 'destroyer' i don't get any results.

i was reading up on some definitions for frenzy, guts, and zealot. it says that the actual skill ability starts when the HP drops to 30% or lower, now i tried it but for some reason its not working.

my question is, the 30% drop, does this include the %-off from any HP related buffs or your total HP WITHOUT any health related buffs? I usually have Battle Roar on me at all times, maybe thats why frenzy/guts is not doing what its suppose to?

any help will be appreciated.
It's when your current HP is at 30% or less than your maximum HP. Your maximum HP is what is shown on the HP bar and includes all buffs, armor bonuses, weapon SA, CON adjustments etc.

Once you activate Frenzy, Guts, or Zealot you can boost your current HP above 30% and the buffs remain in effect.

Note that you can have Frenzy or Guts active but not both.
its an active skill so u actually have to press the button to get it to work, then go for it.

just a note, you are at 30% hp or lower when ur hp bar starts to flash/blink.
You have to have lower than 30% of current HP Maximum.
For example, if you have 2000 hp maximum without BR, 2400 hp maximum with it, you have to have lower than 2400*0.3=720 when you are under BR.
The amount of hp is only needed at the time of skill usage. Once you have this buff, you can replenish back, and buff will still work.

just a note, you are at 30% hp or lower when ur hp bar starts to flash/blink.

seriously?! god ****, thats ..... dangerous .... man i'd have to time it just right, so not to kiss the floor by a well timed attack by the mob/player.
ty for all the info. i was definitely hitting the skill way WAY too soon than its actually suppose to be. this will require some great timing skills and practice.
the damage increase from frenzy means even with VR1 you should get most of your HP back (for non poling its easy, for pole using....its....messy :P)

Activate Frenzy before pulling when using polearm. You have plenty of time to round up 2 or 3 full catacomb rooms and kill all the mobs before Frenzy buff ends. Just be sure to pop lots of GHP potions during the pull.

yeah thats the safe way
but wheres the fun in that?
what i do is i run around and collect my mobs makeing sure not to let my hp get too low or too high
when you get back to your corner (all pole groups have a corner :P) dont actually run into it but instead make tiny steps towards it to even out the mob damage you receive
when your hp is close to 30% use a healing potion to slow down the hp you use
at this point start spamming the frenzy button and the second you see it trigger use battle roar and attack
if you manage to get off battle roar and swing once odds are you will be at full hp by the time the mobs are dead

my main advice though is not to keep broar active all the time
get a BTB staff for your buffer and let them handle that and use battle roar only as a self heal
ty all, this is very helpful indeed. now i understand clearly as to how frenzy/guts work.
just always remeber to combo frenzy w/ rage. frenzy itself is uber but its the rage/frenzy combo that makes it overpowered :)
I always wait until Battle Roar is up so I can do Battle Roar after I throw the skills to get some hp back. It helps alot.

if you are pulling trains, you can let your hp get low towards the end of one, throw skills and finish killing. It should generate enough hp for you to do a large pull on the next train, assuming you have any vr at all.

This works but the main problem with Frenzy is that it takes 5 seconds to obliterate all the mobs then it has a long cooldown. I trigger it first and work two sets of rooms, one set with Frenzy and one set with Guts. In this way you can always have either Guts or Frenzy for every pull. The way I knock down HP is to let the last mob on the prior pull knock your HP way below 30%. What I find is that Guts with Zealot allows me to pull up to 3 rooms and Frenzy gets me 2 rooms. I just got a bow so I'm hoping I can pull better now with Frenzy and maybe get a third room. Of course the hard part is finding and controlling 5 or 6 rooms. But it's also the fun part.
the icon of frenzy makes it hard to see if it has refreshed or not. i an absolutely certain they did this intentionally. to avoid needing frenzy when you dont have it, always use battle roar directly after it. when battle roar is refreshed, so is frenzy.

You can click Frenzy and it tells you if it is ready or not. I do this periodically when > 30% HP to check if it's ready. But the easiest for me is to fall into a rhythm between Guts and Frenzy so that one of them is always on.
