Sprockets the Cat has left the villages and returned to his master. Did you enjoy playing their game? What did you think about this event? Please place your votes below and reply in this thread with specific comments to let us know your thoughts. Thank you!
I really enjoyed this event. The little game added a nice twist beyond.. collect items - trade for prize.
I think the big thing is that I had some control over my prize, which is far better than random. The gambling element also adds another element of excitement.
The only bad thing about the event was that 9 items in inventory is a bit too many. While I do like collecting lots of different things to make the event work, nine different things is a large percentage of total inventory space.
I only participated with the items I had on hand. Otherwise they didnt get sold or traded or bought as some did to complete their set.
NCsoft you spend way too much time making up these little events/games when you should be addressing the bigger picture of wasted server space aka areas that no longer can be worked due to out levelling them. Even the towns have become vacant in most if not all cases due to out levelling.
How about planning events for new people to try out the game. Real advertisements for real dollars to draw new players to the game. Make it a monthly event such as they do for Public Radio.
Use your Talk Radio with advertisements to draw new players into this game. See how many people you can actually get onto a server that has never played before. Try test groups with real players playing new characters and get their response of the game.
Plenty to do without having to do these silly events. I am being nice when I say silly. There are other names I would prefer to call them but that wont get me heard.
One minor issue with the poll....regarding the question "What did you think about the rewards for this event?". There really was no option for "Rewards were low for the time and effort."
You either had to choose "Just Right" or "Not worth it."
For me, the potential rewards sounded good (I was hoping to get at least one Enchant armor reward...) but I ended up only going as high as the Blessed Resurecction only ONCE. I either ended up with a L2 scroll or the potion reward the vast majority of the time. (Total of 2 BSOE scrolls IIRC.) Maybe my luck was 'bad' but it was a bit of a letdown not to get any enchants this time around.
It's not so much the difficulty in getting the enchants, they are after all fairly expensive scrolls, but rather that the rewards went directly to EWC and there were no EAD, EWD or EAC.
And for me, the L2 and blessed scrolls seemed "lacking" without some D grade enchants to go with them. (Overenchanting D grade is about the most I can afford to *try* and you need at least 4 EAD to reach Crystals on a single attempt....)
I think the drop rate was "just right" this time around. The 'story' was a little weak but I at least read it once to see what the backstory was. (Getting better, but it could have been written in a more interesting manner.)
The event was too short though, it really should have run for a couple more days.
...for the next event how making one of the rewards be a random B grade weapon or A grade Armor recipe instead of just enchants or scrolls?

With all due respect.
This was by far the best event the game has had so far.
I think the rewards were perfect for at I was looking for at the time. I had just started my soon-to-be sorcerer so I could kill tons of mobs quickly. In very short time I was able to get 6 EWC scrolls. The EWC scrolls were my goal; I wanted at least 4. Also, I wasn't paying attention once and played too long, winning 4 EAB scrolls. I need those as well. Gobs of GMHP were a bonus as well. I don't really need the L2day scrolls but they'll make great shop fodder.
I was happy to see that there were no D scrolls this time, and more valuable prizes - I'd rather get potions than EAD for example, and much rather get bsoes and brez than EWD. Though I'm sure that actual D graders would have liked to see D scrolls, you just don't remain D grade for that long.
the best events were the pumpkins and raid bosses, cause you got to get together with your friends. any events that takes up like 10 valuable inventory slots makes me cry. but any event is better than the arrowhead run. good job on event making.
I liked the event even if the cat cheated, 9 items was a bit much for inventory though, since you needed a full set of 9 for 1 chance. But getting even a buff scroll if you lost was nice.
The rewards were very nice. It was funny to see one of our academy members(actually a new player) selling an EWA. It gave higher lvl players a chance to get something relatively useful(BREZ BREZ BREZ) and the lower lvl characters a chance to get stuff to sell to mke enough money for gear.
A+ on this one NC, it is right up there with the Invading armies a while ago(the ones that actually attacked cities, well, kind of)
Usually I am the absolute first to jump on NC soft. Or to find fault with something they did.
But they nailed it with this event. I think the duration was just right, but thats only assuming you you were available to play for the whole thing.
They didn't make any of the peices extremely rare. The prizes were all good, and you always got a worth while prize.
But most importantly, you could go for the top prize without risking losing everything you worked for. (which is typical of L2 in general) So there was no anxiety of losing your EA-A going for the EW-A. You just had the anxiety of going up against the cat at another game.
It was hard to keep space in my invo, because mine is always cluttered to begin with. But that was a minor, minor problem.
best event ever and i think the poll reflects that
obviously too short like we keep saying but all in all a solid event
for those that say the cat cheated he actually followed a very predicatable pattern which obviously i wont tell you but i will give you a hint and tell you it had 9 steps
24 brez from 60 sets (took me a while to get the pattern :/)
I am usually judgamental towards NC soft, but this was a good event and comparable to the Medal event. Addressed to all classes and levels, giving good rewards. We need more of this kind of events. Job well done NC.
I enjoyed this event and I was pleased that you couldn't lose.
Several times I would get past the first two stages and pick the wrong thing. I was perfectly happy with 10 GSAP or 10 G Haste pots as a consolation prize. GSAP is currently 19k per pot on my server - 190k prize I'm ok with :D
I'm looking forward to an army of sentient golems overrunning Elmore and getting drunk at the Blacksmith's (due to a serious lack of taverns in the game).

Exactly !
Very good event, fun and always something to win !
I liked it a lot !
The only thing is, as usual, it was really too short for those of us who can mostly play on weekends and not so much during the week...
I didn't enjoy it. 9 items is alot, I had to use a pet to pass the rift tp.
It was short and as I don't solo I had to share the loot with parties. I had to buy some hearts to complete the collection. I got 2 tries. First one I lost at the first attempt (got a guidance scroll) and second one I lost at the second attempt (and got an empower scroll that I sold). I didn't manage to sell my last hearts because I can't let the computer on by night.
To sum it up : all this mess in inventory for two attempts based on luck? It's even worse than the haloween event "Throw your money, get more easy-solo consumable and if you're lucky (read rich), you'll get high-end craps or decoration items". At least I didn't have anything filling my inventory for nothing.
This was a great event. I very much liked that when you continued on in the game and lost you still got a reward. It was also nice that the event drops occurred naturally during normal activities so that you didn't have to run around and waste a lot of time trying to participate in the event.
I had a great time. Made out like a bandit, even.
I think that's a much better alternative to the longer, more drawn out events that have a significantly and sometimes frustratingly slower drop rate. Casual and hardcore players alike can mutually benefit, and as a casual player that's definitely something I appreciate. I'd gladly participate in any events similar to this that yield faster rewards on a smaller time table.
Nice job, guys.
The event was ok. Drop rate of the items was good, and the rewards were ok (I never tried to get to the super rewards, bres was ok for me - and on the tries I failed, i got a bunch of useful l2day scrolls).
Only annoying thing about the event was that it cluttered up the inventory. Nine event items to gather is simply A LOT when you consider how much stuff a normal player already has in inventory (I have my inv expanded to 92 slots, and my usual inv load BEFORE going out hunting is 60-70 items). I ended up having to destroy lesser drops like stems/thread because my inv was full making me miss out on other drops.
This was one of the best events so far, IMO. Free stuff is always fun!
I do have a little beef with the poll though:
What did you think of the background story/lore of the event?
Made me more interested in the event
Skimmed the story to get to the details
Not interested/didn't read it
You asked us what we thought of the lore, but then the (last two) answers we had to choose from seemed to go with a different question. "Did you read the background story?" seems to be the question that goes with those answers. In that case, it's not going to change from event to event, because those that never read lore will never read lore and those that do read lore will read lore, regardless of the event. If you really wanted to know what we thought of the lore, you should have given us better answers to choose from (good, medium, bad, + DNA).
What did you think of the background story/lore of the event?
A. Made me more interested in the event
B. It was OK
C. Did not progress the event / was disappointing
D. Not interested/didn't read it

:/
For this type of event, it's always a good idea to go on an alt to farm items if you can't solo well on your main. In parties, it's just not worth it, if you want the chance to win good stuff without buying event items.

Exactly, these events are excellent for levelling up lower level pimped up alts, most people can get a decent brig set and tarbar together and have a neglected level 20 toon that would do well using them. I always use my lowest chars for events, they'd never get levelled otherwise.
For this event I created a new toon in my 7th slot, DE mage, threw a devotion set on them and put a mithril set in their warehouse. Took them from 0 - 25 in the event.
My only beef and its a very small one, is please give us more notice for events, that way we can earn brownie points with the wife, etc etc and get the time booked in as L2 time without the missus saying "but we've already got ABC planned this weekend"
Think the drop rates were great, few hours grinding and i had well over 200 pieces. I felt this was first event you didnt need to be a "Special Player" to actually obtain some of the higher end rewards.
something wrong in this case of event : 9 slots items.
it's too much for ppl who have only 80 slots, coz you need to have less than 64 free, it means less than 55 (+9 slots for those items event).
with weapon, armor, jewels, items quests, uncompressable normal items (like SS, SoE, crystals, and so on), it left not enough slots.
Yes i know more fishing, but i do enough to grow up my WH and inventory slots on my main (dorf) to do it on my second sub.

Yeah I shoud have done that, but I wasn't in the mood for solo. And after the first drops I didn't want to play the warehouse transfer game while switching between characters like I did for nothing with christmas trees.
I think, and it may be a suggestion, the event items could drop like party quest items, just dropping in the main inventory, so it doesn't incite more and more to solo. Also the rewards should never be skills of existing classes. Otherwise why not scrolls of bow mastery, scrolls of stun shots and all nice things people are casting at each others and asking to be nerfed? :p
Give some love to parties, it's really funnier if the gathering of event items is made between friends! ;)

Ohmygosh, I think that is the best suggestion ever!!! Scrolls that turn my EE into an SR for an hour! That would be so cool! :)
I loved the event... I played my BH during it because she is the easiest to solo and has so much more inventory room.... I wound up with like 30-40 scrolls of each type and 20 brez's and bsoes :) Got 2 Ewa's as well.... but I have a lot of time on my hand to play :) ... Took my BH from lvl 47-55 during the event :)
I loved it. The drop rates were consistent enough that i didn't have to buy quest items to participate, nor was there really a huge market for them, encouraging people to actually play sprockets' game. One thing i hate about events where you collect pieces of items is how there's always one item that's uber rare and people jump at the opportunity to sell it for millions of adena. I was so relieved that this didn't happen with this event. Though i would've loved to see the piggies from the korean video, the idea of dr. chaos looking for love was amusing enough for me to let it slide... for now.
I also usually dislike events that put a huge emphasis on gambling, so the consolation prizes were a BIG PLUS in this one! All of L2 is like gambling, so an event with a consistent reward was a nice respite.
