interlude spellsinger

Hi everyone, I was wondering, does anyone knows if spellsingers will become more effective in interlude? I kinda feel that my spellsinger is not a good nuker as a SH or even a necro

I really hope she gets some love from NCsoft in interlude!
No love in interlude for SpSs.Nukers get the aura flash spell which makes surrounding enemies lose their target and give them aura flare dmg.So its self centered AoE meant for pvp with 2 minutes normal cooldown and cost spirit ore.
Reroll to a Necro/Sh if you are low.Get an archer sub if you are high.
for me sps > sh > sorceres > dwarfs, resist water + elemental protection FTL
You can make your sps better yourself.. Join the masses and sub a necro or a HE.. Then you'll have the looks and will actually be a decent char.. :(
Gogo Necro reroll.1 vs 3/1 vs 9/ 1 vs clan/ 1 vs a few alliances-nothing can stop you!
You got b2m-anchor+gloom-silence-a few more silence types at higher lvl-vamp claw-cheap MP nuke-summon!I see no point choosing anything else ^_^
Oh and the ppl that whine Necro has only 1 element-well Sorc ALSO have 1 element!
Hmm, if you are talking about PvP I don't think we need large improvements. We aren't no Drac Bow archer or Necro, but we are also no Bounty Hunter...

It would be nice if our expensive MP management skill actually made it worth while to use, or some sort of body to mind skill. Lowest damage per nuke plus bad MP management skills means BORING down time or the need to have an SE to reduce it, which is still far from eliminating it.

Oh and that new close range skill that makes you loose target will also be expensive, and probably not worth it unless your enemies strategy is to send in 4-5 melee to surround you, and then you can hit that skill and hope the melee are slower than you.

But out of many things, I think some new animations would be something I would look forward to the most. For example, freezing shackle shouldn't be the same animation as hydro blast, for starters at least. I also think that solar flare should be returned to it's original animation where the "wind" animation circulates around the caster, a lot better than the Aura Flare rip off, making one skill look more like another...
As long as solar flare hitting a player/mob looks the same, one of the coolest looking skills :)

Anyway reroll to HE/necro/SH if it's just about being the best, I like my sps even if we were nerfed to hell. I still like the class.

Then again I also own a TK, BH, and bishop :)
i like my mystic muse so much, but the mp problems, the archer critical problems, and the large number of buffs anti mages is really sad , also the debuffs that arent working anymore, ice vortex, frost bolt, surrender water, arcane chaos (lol)

As long as solar flare hitting a player/mob looks the same, one of the coolest looking skills :)

Defiantly agree with you there. When I was but a noob and saw that skill, that was basically the deciding factor for me to be a spell singer. But yeah, it was so much cooler when the wind circulated around the caster, seemed more powerful...yeah I know weird, but true in my opinion...lol.

Yep I love my spellsinger. Been playing it for about 2 years now, and am not going to quit now, lol. Not to mention I am about 40% and a quest from hell away from subbing. :p
love my spellsinger too, just felt like i lost so much useability with the sleep nerf... what good are crowd control skills that let your party die before they fire? Hope they fix that.
I remember also the old skill animation + the sound of it was awesome.

Same thing - made my sps for that skill, cause it looked soooo cool :)
You guys have to see the male elf Death Spike animation then.. :p Or Anchor..
Spellsingers are getting another nerf, in the form of now allowing shields to reduce and block magic attacks as if they were physical attacks (which they aren't).

The new aura flash spell is a piece of crap simply because it requires spirit ore. I absolutely hate having to spend money to use my own spells, and see no reason why such things should ever have been implemented. They have 0 effect on reducing inflation, the cost is very high for a poor player, but approximately zero for a very rich player, and in terms of sucking adena from the rich player, does not even come close to having a small effect, but it will suck a hugew percent of income from the poor player.

Quite frankly, I don't think that mp regeneration should cost spirit ore, not for what it does. which is essentially nothing. It costs mp to use, and it costs spirit ore, and only adds a whopping 1 mp per spell level per tick, very underwhelming.

As things stand, spellsingers and sorcerors are in sore need of a time and cost effective mp management solution, something which they've needed since prelude. Right now, both of these classes are easily outdamaged over time by nearly every DD class out there, never mind by the necros and spellhowlers who both have a nuke with the same spellpower as hydroblast and prominence but costs a lot less and when coupled with body to mind, leave no reason to ever play a spellsinger or a sorceror. Not to mention all the other really useful spells that these other two mage classes have which are again denied to the the 2 worst mage classes. If you have ever played a necro or a spellhowler in addition to a spellsinger or a sorceror, you will know immediately exactly why the latter two classes are in serious need of some loving.
I wonder when maline will come post here....

Cant dissagree with you there at all.Adding new skills is what keeps players around. Not removing them.
I usually try to steer away from Ellisande.

But I'll agree, Aura Flash seems like a sad joke. The cost makes sense (hey, it IS an emergency skill, and nukers DO use less consumables than melees, so that's only fair), but the cooldown does not. Spammability is innate in the whole aura line, and making a spell that casts fast but can't be spammed seems silly at best. GG NCSoft?

SpSs and Sorcs should get used to being tied to elders, just as melees are tied to BDs (although Lisail points out that you can exp 'just fine' with PP buffs, I believe he hasn't actually had to do so) and polers are tied to VR.

As AoE capable classes, I really don't think there's room for you to complain about PvE - that is the best exp there is after all, unless you are simply too lazy to build parties, and then you don't deserve good exp.

Feel better, Lisail?
Nope.I dont hunt without a BD because I AM the BD.All i need is heals and herbs provide that-i can hunt non stop without downtime. And thats with a class that doesnt have armor mastery and equip thats worser than usual. But if melees are so gimp as you say they are...
Sorcs/SpSs/Dorfs deserve alot of NEW skills. For that imagination is needed-something NCSoft Korea has shown that they lack!
I don't see much of a change for SpS in interlude. I think it's a great class, myself. I've played a 6X sorc and I like Sps much better tbh.

with clarity 3 I have no MP problems really- i just walk around and 1 shot green undead mobs with solar flare- uses less mp then other nukers (except those CDLing I guess) and is a lot more XP per mob. plus i have time to pick up my drops as the skill recharges lol. make very good money only using one bspsa per mob.

i also still use sleep cloud all the time, but I have +5 wit and dc robes so the cast speed isn't too bad. still good for solo pve as well imo.

Sorcs/SpSs/Dorfs deserve alot of NEW skills.

I agree. I'd wager I've probably made the most suggestions about new skills for dorfies and sorcs on these boards - but I don't believe for a second that this is a gimp class.

And no, melees are not gimp in PvE either, just healers, buffers and tanks are due to being a bit too easy to outsource.
So you have clarity which is an EE skill right?
Dont tell me how good my class is with a buff pet pls.
HEAVEN FORBID you party a live support class! It need not be a pet, what is so difficult about that Lisail?

Seriously, cry more about needing support. There are many things wrong with nukers, but being tied to rechargers certainly isn't one of them.

Every class in this game has setups in which it works well (for example a prophet works much better in small than in large groups - surprise), and others in which it doesn't (have you ever seen a 'true solo' warlord? Hoho). You happened to pick the one class that works in just about any group as well as solo when you subclassed/rerolled (not sure which you did), and now you think everything should be like that?
There aren't always shilien elders available. And no, an elven elder simply will not do, not with the advent of herbs in solo centric areas. As for meleers needing more pots to keep soloing, of course they do, they were never meant to solo from the getgo, but mages were. In a party, there is no reason for a meleer to ever once use a pot for anything. And since meleers weren't meant to solo, any pot they use to solo has nothing to do with the cost a mage incurs while soloing (1500 adena per single hp green mob + one magic haste potion per buff round in addition to any bsoes or healing items).
He/she spends her entire day with an EE?100% sure about this?Otherwise her example isnt worth typing at all.
When will you understand that the CORE class needs tweaking? Not the duo part.

Spellsingers are getting another nerf, in the form of now allowing shields to reduce and block magic attacks as if they were physical attacks (which they aren't).

This is a nerf to all nukers not just SpS. At high level this will be very bad with the armor sets and buffs available to increase shield block rate and shield defense. Hopefully the chance for the shield to add to Mdef is not the same as the chance for the shield to add to Pdef.

It costs mp to use, and it costs spirit ore, and only adds a whopping 1 mp per spell level per tick, very underwhelming.

At level 70 the Mana Regen gives 4 MP per tick = 1600 MP for the buff round at a cost of 15 Spirit Ore = 7500 adena (about). This is significantly cheaper than MP elixirs and offers more MP (you get 2 MP elixirs per round = 750 MP at a cost of about 30K for the two). Admittedly, 1600 MP per round is much less than the B2M skill of necro and SH. The effect of mana regen should be boosted, but, when supplemented with MP elixirs it can allow for a solo SpS to supplement their own MP by 1600 + 750 each buff round for < 40K adena.

If you look at a level 75 SpS in typical setup they will have 3000 MP unbuffed. It will take 3 shots to kill green / white mobs without empower or 2 shots with (in most cases). Normal MP regen is about 15 per tick when walking, plus 4 with mana regen. So MP regen is about 7600 per round. MP elixirs are 750 per round. So total, sustainable, MP is 8350. This gets you 40 mobs per round for 3 shots or 60 mobs per round for 2 shots. At level 75 those mobs = 0.01% (about) = 0.4% to 0.6% per round = 1.2% (unbuffed) to 1.8% (emp3) per hour. That is not bad XP for totally unbuffed solo. You might be able to double this XP rate with OOP buffs and recharges.

But, to be fair, the necro or SH (if they use CDL) would be limited only by the mob spawn rate, luck, and iron *cough* which could probably provide 2X the XP if they don't get killed too often. My guess is that the XP rate is probably about the same for all of the nukers if they have access to buffs and recharges.
SPS's have a lot of skills.

GOOD skills is another story. Surrender to earth? lol? Ice dagger, freezing shackle? frost wall? That's a bunch of skills! Too bad they are stupid.

I have a 60 sps sub, and a 56 SH. The SH of course has their main nuke and an overhit like the sps, but their extra spells are extremely useful, btm, corpse life drain, CDL, vamp claw.

If freezing shackle, and ice dagger were worthwhile (oh and that crazy crazy surrender to earth) we'd be doing a lot better.

HEAVEN FORBID you party a live support class! It need not be a pet, what is so difficult about that Lisail?

Just going to say that there isn't many high level support classes, especially SEs and EEs because so many people do have their own. So implying that people can just pick up a live support for their class in the nearest town or something is a bit far fetched, unless I am playing a different game than you. You act like you can get one on a whim...

Your right, every class in this game has setups that work well. But it is unfair the huge differences in setups some classes require. I am not talking about the Spellsinger or even mages completely, I am talking about the wider view. I don't expect all classes to level the "same speed" for the "same price" because that is the point of class variety, you win some you loose some. But sometimes the a certain classes strengths don't make up for their weaknesses, and this is where balance should come into play.

True solo warlord would be insane since a warlord kills loads of mobs at one time, with some of the most efficient soul shot usage in the game. I have seen warlords make mad exp with only having a Bishop and SE though. That is a bad example. Obviously though if a warlord decided to kill one or possibly two mobs at a time he could solo, but not efficiently, just like every other class in this game.

On top of this interlude is attempting to slow down the grind more because apparently in Korea you play L2 as your job or something.

Overall I think spellsingers will be fine! We do need certain improvements like all classes do, but the changes coming in interlude really shouldn't make you re roll, if you already like playing your class you should continue playing it. Spellsingers aren't top dog, but they aren't at the bottom of the heap. You will have to make the decision, do you want to play the class you like or do you want to play the reroll game?

unless I am playing a different game than you.

We have more SEs than nukers, and two EEs as well. Not a matter of different games, but of different clans.

Everyone knows the disparity in solo capability when they pick their classes. Nukers know they take the wrong branch to solo. Why do they still think they should be able to do it?

PS: Frost wall is a great skill if used right - but yes, DoT boost is long, long overdue.
Actually maline CAN get support on a whim-she has 1 boxed...
I liked playing my class till C5.Then quit.
After that seeing my roommate playing his BD i was drawn back.So im here to give another go to this game...
I dont know wth you guys are talking about. I can own any class with my MM. Even Necros (unless anchor lands, thats when you have another pc to just force log you cause that skill is dumb. it should be like the BD para.) But necros I just cancel slow their summon, run cancel again and kill them. usually their summon is far enough behind to not get transfer pain. You just have to be smart about your pvping. There is a hero dagger on the server i just have to cancel/slow him and kite him until hero ud wears off. he bsoes everytime. Arcane power helps A LOT with vortexs, slows and other debuffs landing. It just comes down to how good you are with your class. We do suck in olympiad though.
so u get the dream team for play a mystic muse lv 78 with skills +9, this group have BD 78 with siren, have sws lv 77 with earth and reneaw, u also have all top buffs for a mage, and u have COV, but u meet the dream archer group, they have all prophet buffs, dance, cov, songs and blessing of queen, ur dream mystic muse team will be sad after u do 600 damage on the archer, and he do 2x 5k on u, btw i never tried, but i think 1 sps may do more damage using a draconic bow to do 1 normal atk than using hydro blast with arcana mace , surrender water is hard landing and it eat 69 extra mp

btw i never tried, but i think 1 sps may do more damage using a draconic bow to do 1 normal atk than using hydro blast with arcana mace

That's what we said to our MM noble when he once again got owned by a prophet in Olympiad - "next time go in with a Drac bow" :)

Resist buffs are so [censored] overpowered, it is ridiculous. Against a nuker, you can get general mdef buffs (magic barrier, song of warding) AND the resist buffs (elemental protection, divine protection, specific resist buffs). Everybody can have those, if you have a buffer with those buffs around, and at higher lvl, everybody usually runs around with at least elemental protection and mdef buffs, and maybe sws mdef song. Against an archer, there simply is no comparable way of buffing, since pdef depends on the armor you wear, and that is class specific. And there are simply less buffs which help against archers. It is ridiculous enough that nukers are forced to use one-handed weapons so they can carry a shield. A whole class of weapons (2-h mage weapons) is basically unusable because of the benefits a shield gives. Branch of Mothertree/Acumen sells for half the price of SoM/Acumen on Hindemith, and most of that price is due to the blue 12 crystal...

Actually maline CAN get support on a whim-she has 1 boxed...

It's a DD that I need to box, not a support class, but good on you for paying attention. My mains are both live-played support classes. ^_~

And yes, I could get other live support on a whim as well. The only thing my clan is really short on appears to be DDs.

PS: Pointing at archers and crying 'woo we are so weak' is the best way to get people to think you should not be taken seriously about 'balance issues'. Everyone knows bow criticals need to be fixed, and looking at them as a point of reference for balance is ridiculous at best.

Hi everyone, I was wondering, does anyone knows if spellsingers will become more effective in interlude?

They boosted rechargers' capabilities (Invocation spell). As you are the highest DPS and the lowest DPM nuker class in the game, you benefit the most from this change.

Actually maline CAN get support on a whim-she has 1 boxed...

She can also box her pony (or what's her next one, Soulless?).
learn to play your class, my MM can beat almost any char in the game. I recently beat an archer with pof with my prophet buffs. he got ownt!!!!! OWNT!!!SDFSDFDSF CRY AT ARCHERS WAH WAH WAH CRY YOU FEAKING NOOBS LEARN TO PLAY A MYSTIC MUSE/SPS OR REROLL JESUS WOW CRY BABIES

HEAVEN FORBID you party a live support class! It need not be a pet, what is so difficult about that Lisail?

It's not "Clarity" part that is attributable to a buffpet in that post, it's "Solar Flare". I mean, why the hell would you wait for Solar Flare refresh when you have a live EE?

btw i never tried, but i think 1 sps may do more damage using a draconic bow to do 1 normal atk than using hydro blast with arcana mace

This is exactly what the problem with a mage is. They have the lowest hp, cp, defense and evasion of every class, their spells which are supposed to compromise the majority of their damage eat up a ton of mp which in the case of spellsingers and sorcerors will not ever regenerate quickly due to a lack of body to mind don't do more damage than an archer will do, and the archer faces fewer downsides to do more damage which costs them less mp to do. An archer therefore averages more damage per shot (the average of crit and noncrit attacks), can get off more shots per mp bar, and has a higher chance of surviving any encounter because they are faster, have more defense, evasion and hp than the mage counterpart.

As already said, it is also much easier to mitigate away a mage's damage with just a handful of defensive buffs, not so with an archers damage. Unlike Maline some who say a mage should not compare themselves to an archer, I will say a mage is directly comparable to an archer because both of their roles is very specificially to do damage and only to do damage. Continuing on, since both are designed ot do damage, we should be able to view them as substitutes for the other, doing on average the same amount of damage over time. As already stated, such is not the case, archers do a lot more damage, and give up much less to do a lot more. It would have only made sense to make the class which sacrifices the most (mages) do the most damage, but this isn't the case for some strange reason. That is the problem, mages just do not do enough damage for everything they have give up to do that damage.
The problem is not with the classes, it's with the buffs and the resists. Everything in this game is balanced for the olympiad (and even then it's not that balanced) unbuffed fights, but when you start adding buffs that MULTIPLY damage instead of ADDING something to them you start to get in trouble with balancing. Then you add resist buffs that reduce the damage some classes do and not others you're in even more trouble. This is how the game was designed, and I don't see it changing anytime soon.
I think the game should be based on the logic of "the less the Pdef is, the more damage". I would find reasonable to have it like robe users (mages) should do the more damage than any other class. Light armor classes should follow (archers, daggers, tyrants) and last should be the heavy armor users (gladiators). Based on that, the game could have some sort of balance between classes. Buffs could mitigate mage damage (as is now) and shields or a new set of buffs (to help buffers a bit) to mitgate the damage from criticals or skills. That way PvE would be unaffected while PvP would become a bit longer in duration and maybe more intresting.

HEAVEN FORBID you party a live support class! It need not be a pet, what is so difficult about that Lisail?

It's not "Clarity" part that is attributable to a buffpet in that post, it's "Solar Flare". I mean, why the hell would you wait for Solar Flare refresh when you have a live EE?

i just have the buff from a friend. no recharging really. like I said the money is good when 1-shotting mobs, and 100-150 xp per MP makes for nice leveling rate.

ellie I like freezing shackle and ice dagger, myself- ID is good for griefing bots lol, and both can help beat down high HP classes when you are struggling to overcome their CP pot spam lol. but for the most part they aren't great for much of anything else- the bleed/hp drain needs to do more damage or last longer for the skill to be worth using in pve or more frequently in pvp imo.

some peeps seem really hung up on some theoretical state where characters are running around completely self-buffed solo- aside from olympiad, not really how the game is designed imo- that's why we have clans and buffer classes to party, CH buffs, etc. my sps works fine as I (and many others) play the game. sps are great in pvp in my experience- cast speed > all imo.
You nuke for 400
You nuke for 400
You nuke for 400
Archer01 hits you for 8567!
You died

The only change to this in interlude will be the archer not killing you by quite a large margin or may (if you get lucky) actually requiring a second shot.

Spellsinger is a free kill for non-newbies.
Nearly worthless in PvE.
Worse than most melee in solo.

Nothing will change.
Aren't Wind Walk and Dance of Fire the most cancellable PvP buffs?
IMO spellsinger isnt as bad as people say it is (or mystic muse depending on level).

I personally have a lvl 78 sps pretty maxed out on Hindemith and I have a [censored] blast on it, either pve or pvp.
PvP-I believe due to cancel/vortexes/slow you can pretty much take out any class if you aren't mana burned to 0, and even then you can still pop and mp elixir and kill some.
PvE- With such a wide range of attacks, there isnt really anywhere you can't hunt. I personally like Imperial Tomb. With light vortexes and solar flare, you are able to hex the mobs for melee/archer in your party and still do some damage, and with the right setup you can conserve mp pretty well while doing this. When the bosses spawn, you can use your 2 aoe's (I have highly OE ones) and do some serious damage. Until you are 78 (and still then somewhat) you can solo Forest of Dead with light vortex 1 shotting mobs. Party with an SE or Ee, and with the mana herbs that drop you are golden.

If you have issues playing an sps, it's just you haven't learned what setup/playstyle is best for you yet.
hmm i think people underestiment SPS
i got a level 73 now i see people envy me becose most mobs at high level are weak against sacred attack not to mention 2 AOE spells if you cant level without stoping you doing something wrong and it will be time to trow away your DC crap robe and get NM robe for PVE

I pretty much said this in shorter words :) It's all about how your mind thinks, some classes you have to use strategy, not just nuke nuke nuke like your use to.

You nuke for 400

dude try to go level a sorc.. its twice as bad with less of a reward..(no over-hit.. jus as [censored] mp regen.. no 76 skill.. 1 main nuke.. 1 element only(fire)..) ya.. so.. wtb a second main nuke.. maybe a overhit.. maybe a 76 skill..maybe they can take the sp i wasted with aoe sleep/sleep and put that sp towards a new 2nd main nuke or something..
And in my honest opinion, a spellsinger is just as bad as we say they are. They don't have a wide range of options, just main nuke, main nuke, main nuke. The dots they do have are either too slow and don't do enough damage, or just don't do enough damage to be worth the sp adena and mp to cast. That knocks 2 spells out the window. Sleep got nerfed to oblivion in C5. So that is another 2 spells out the window. Aura flare was killed for pvp in C3, and mage aoeing was killed to an extent in C4. Fear was worthless as soon as mages got it, it has too small a chance of landing even with bsps, and it has too large a cooldown time. The mage spells requiring seeds cost too much mp for the damage they do (250 for each seed, 250 for the spell itself, so 750 mp to do 500 or less spellpower when 500 spellpower from seperate main nukes would cost less than 350 mp, and don't let me start harping on the fact that seed spells have a 20 minute cooldown timer).

Therefore I'm not sure what mages have left at this point which allows you to state that you have a wide range of attacks. If anything, spellsingers and sorceors have the smallest range of options of any class in L2, short of bounty hunters. I don't care what setup you use, you are still going to suffer from lack of an effective mp regeneration ability. The best you can gain is an additional 8% from majestic robes, which isn't all that much, approximately 1 mp extra per tick and that at the expense of 2 int. With nightmare you gain 4% additional mp regeneration, about 0.5 mp per tick. That is it for A grade armors, neither dark crystal nor tallum give more mp regen. in B grade robes, only doom and blue wolf give mp regeneration, and both are horrible mage robe sets. There is no setup that allows for mp conservation to the degree needed by spellsingers and sorcerors. A spellsinger cannot reduce a mobs resistance to light type attacks due to a lack of a light vortex as she is not yet a mystic muse, so there is no hex type negative buff a spellsinger can use to help her party, and even the light vortex negative buff isn't exactly a true hex either, it is a makeshift one which requires the party having been given holy weapon.

Using mp elixirs is not going to save you when you get mana burned. this is because the mp elixirs give all of 400 or so mp, and can only be used once every 8 minutes, they can't be popped like healing and cp potions.

For pvp, if you as a mystic muse ever win against a soul taker, that soul taker would need to have gone afk. Why can I say this with surety? Because a soultaker has every useful spell a mystic muse has, plus a lot more including a summon they can use as another hp pool. Against a hierophant who hasn't forgotten to use elemental protection and magic barrier, winning is very tough as your damage will have been floored. An archer can just set themselves to autoshoot and have a good chance of winning. Swordsingers themselves can use their own magic barrier self buff and song of warding to again floor a mages damage. The only real targets which a spellsinger can kill with surety are dwarves (and what class can't?), anything else is either a crapshoot, or just pure luck.

And as far as third class changes go, a sorceror is in an even worse situation than the spellsinger, they get their only vortex at level 77 while their necro counterparts get their vortex spell at level 76 which is the same damage type as their main nuke death spike (the same goes for spellhowlers who also have death spike and get the dark vortex at level 76 as opposed to spellsingers who don't have a normal light element nuke they can spam in the same fashion).

PvP-I believe due to cancel/vortexes/slow you can pretty much take out any class if you aren't mana burned to 0, and even then you can still pop and mp elixir and kill some.

Really, and what is your counter to getting critted for 8k?
You won't finish casting cancel before the archer drops you.
Even then your vortex will do 600ish damage (400 if they have all the buffs and your cancel doesn't get any)
Straight up... if your target isn't stupid, (or much lower level than you) you do 400-1200 damage and then die from an 8k crit.

PvE- With such a wide range of attacks, there isnt really anywhere you can't hunt.

Correct in saying that spellsinger nukes (water/nonelemental/light) cover a wide range and there is nothing resistant to all three.

However, mana is the problem. Spellsingers are always out of mana. Some of us do not 2nd/3rd/4th box a bot train of rechargers... and when you do have live rechargers, spellsingers are miserable for damage and efficiency in comparison to all the other damage dealers...

I personally like Imperial Tomb. With light vortexes and solar flare, you are able to hex the mobs for melee/archer in your party and still do some damage, and with the right setup you can conserve mp pretty well while doing this.

Spellsingers are math. They have X mana which converts to Y damage. It doesn't matter how you space it out, it doesn't matter how you conserve it, you are Y damage period.... which is usually 1/6th of an archer's damage if you have a dedicated recharger. If you don't? You are roughly a bishop's melee worth of damage over longer than 30 minutes.
Parse it yourself if you like.

When the bosses spawn, you can use your 2 aoe's (I have highly OE ones) and do some serious damage.

Do yourself a favor... roll a polearm class/subclass and compare... (parse it)
You'd be amazed at how much damage a polearm class can do in the same situation and he doesn't have to wait for rediculous recasts. This is ONE situation where the spellsinger (and other mages) are almost worth a party slot.
Even then, there are better classes for that slot.

Until you are 78 (and still then somewhat) you can solo Forest of Dead with light vortex 1 shotting mobs. Party with an SE or Ee, and with the mana herbs that drop you are golden.

Been to FotD, and soloed plenty there... It STILL causes major downtime without a bot train of rechargers. Mana herbs are rare drops... and they tend to drop when you have almost full mana...

If you have issues playing an sps, it's just you haven't learned what setup/playstyle is best for you yet.

Yet another player who thinks F1 F2 with a bot train of rechargers and buffers following you takes massive skill.

All of the setups must deal with an inordinate amount of downtime that every other class in the game does not have to deal with at this point.
All party desireability for spellsingers is gone. Spellsingers offer NOTHING to the group that any well played class isn't better at WHILE offering a real bonus to the group.

PvP, spellsingers are still capable of damage and can kill just fine if no one targets you. However spellsinger pvp is basically "the first shot wins." its that simple. Stacked resist buffs make mages pointless in comparison to archers which once again devalue a mage to 1/6th of an archer.

I guess the lesson here is simple...
Spellsingers are half a class.
If you have a personal bot train of rechargers, they are okay.

dude try to go level a sorc.. its twice as bad with less of a reward..(no over-hit.. jus as [censored] mp regen.. no 76 skill..

Sorc and spellsinger are in the same boat with the only exception being overhit... which is massively overrated.

I actually favor giving sorcs an overhit... earth based would be fine...

Sorcs actually have the mana issue a little better covered (I know not much) with B2M1.
Realize that even the first rank allows you to turn some of those extra HP herbs into mana...
And B2M1 is SO much better than sps mana regen spell that it isn't even funny.

Still confused as to why sorcerors think its so much different than a spellsinger when the big difference is just the overhit with the sorcerors having slightly better mana regen...
Because both we the spellsingers and they the sorcerors are trying to prove who is the most useless class of all and therefore the one most needing attention, counterproductively showing that the other class who is more useful by comparison but still pretty much useless does not need any attention, or no attention until we have had ours first.

In reality, we should band together in fighting to overthrow this inequality and in one voice work to gain the body to mind we've needed since Prelude. If NC won't give us body to mind because they classify a useful spell as evil, they can at least make reparations by giving us that new skill they are giving to elven elders and bishops which allows them to regenerate a large amount of mp by standing still. Unlike what Maline will inevitably come here and say, a buffer of the appropriate level to duo with is very hard to find, and having tried both eleven elders and shilien elders, I've found that elven elders don't really add to my experience overtime in comparison to the amount they are taking away without adding more per mob damage as they only add more mp, and serve merely to highlight the general mp management problems we've been trying to have fixed C1.
You nukers still have it easy on the xp than others <_<
I'd rather 2shot mobs for 10k xp for 10min, rest 10min, rebuff, rinse and repear; than take 20seconds to kill a mob but kill non-stop <_<
also overhits gimps your sp since it doesn't 'overhit' for sp... so in the long run you'd be behind on sp...
On an sps I think it's more like 2 shot mobs for 5 mins, rest for 10 or so, repeat.

also overhits gimps your sp since it doesn't 'overhit' for sp... so in the long run you'd be behind on sp...

Same as 'dying for SP', simply makes no sense.

You still gain SP at the same rate (actually faster since you become higher level) as others, just more experience in the same time.
Don't let Duke's sig fool you..he's 78 and subclassed. I think his opinion counts in pretty heavy considering he's been around since Prelude on Hinde and still manages to stay strong. SPS was the strongest class for awhile...I think some of you simply miss that.
Any class with a bot train is powerful... I think you continue to miss this fact Luke.

2 shotting mobs its 2-3minutes for 10k... (roughly 24 mobs counting regen) 8 minutes (average) of downtime now if you pick up herbs

24 x 10k = 240k XP over first 2 minutes
after its two kills or 20k per minute.
5 minutes = 300k
15minutes = 500k
30minutes = 750k

Even if the melee gets 3 kills per minute for 10k (that would guarantee that you are probably the worst player this game has ever seen) in melee...

60k after 2nd minute
30k per minute afterward

5 minutes = 150k
15 minutes = 450k
30 minutes = 900k

Your completely incompetent melee who can only handle 3 kills a minute is XPing faster than ANY solo spellsinger after 30 minutes.

You would rather make 750k xp over 30 minutes (spellsinger) than 900k XP (you incompetent melee)? hello?

"you nukers" also play melee...

You cannot lie about your so-called "I am so put upon and cannot XP" bull anymore. I am going to call you on it every time.

Find herbs and melee never run out of HP ever.
Find someplace without herbs and a moderately competent melee will STILL XP faster than ANY solo spellsinger can period.

The cat is out of the bag... the "melee cannot solo" people are lying.

On an sps I think it's more like 2 shot mobs for 5 mins, rest for 10 or so, repeat.

Its actually 2-3... but doesn't matter either way as the spellsinger has X number of kills on a full mana bar and then gets 2 kills per minute from regen period barring a lucky herb drop.

Little herbs give ONE extra kill
Big ones (or full recovery) give full mana, but you are almost as likely to get a full A grade drop as a full mana herb.
A good point to make is, who cares really how much exp you make per hour. I mean, yes it is important, but if mages made more exp per hour than melee, which isn't all true unless you are talking about certain classes such as tanks or something, it matters the amount of fun you will have.

Don't know about you, I would rather make 10k less exp per hour, or whatever, but be able to play 100% of that hour instead of sitting down for half or over half of it. See my point?

The issue with the sorc and the sps. Don't give me that bull crap, there are TONS of fire weak mobs, especially at lower levels, that you get a benefit from. We get a few sacred weak mobs for our secondary nuke. You can not go around two shotting mobs with solar flare since the regen time is too long. Most SpS are using hydro blast, just like a sorc is using prominence. They usually will use the over hit skill because it simply does more damage and makes it possible to two shot mobs that a sorc could two shot with prom.

Neither class is bad though. If you want a mage with tons of useful skills become a Spell Howler which seems to have the best variety of skills for death, destruction, and mp regeneration. 2 main nukes, an overhit, body to mind, drains, oh boy the list goes on.

The point is, if you play a class and don't like it then reroll, or learn to deal with your weaknesses. SpS and Sorcs had their day with Aura Flare (wasn't high enough for me to enjoy it though at that time). While you sit to regen do a bit of homework, look at forums, write and email, just stay in game and chat with some friends, or whatever. Me regen time is Japanese Homework time...not the best circumstances for concentration, but it keeps my mind busy instead of looking at the MP tick...

No elemental mage class sucks per say, they are just not equal. Like I said before, we aren't at the top, but we aren't at the bottom, to me we are actually pretty balanced. Have weaknesses and strengths, and of course we also have room for improvement. If you have to always be the best, reroll every update to some overpowered class like a necro.

I still say, we need some more spell animations though. :D
Rerroll?Thats for idiots.Make my class better<--Plain and simple!
On to the over-hit-you ever played Sorc?Because ive played a SpSs till ~50 and boy does that spell make a difference!Ofc half the mobs ingame are weak to holy but still!
Fire weak mobs....Cruma/HS?And HS aint good at all.
You get 2! vortexes and 2! nukes.Thats alot of variety in your skills. We have HALF!
I got better things to do than watching MP going up.But if im sitting and playing i want that.PLAYING!Not sitting on the ground doing nothing.
Good thing i managed to undestand the majority of the player base and subbed something usefull.
what a bunch of noobs, I wander why did I kill a necro a few minutes ago on my mm? as a matter of fact, why did my MM, hawkeye and an OL kill a hero Evas saints, destroyer, dagger, dagger, blade dancer and archer? Cause my MM owned them is why. 4 pvps out of the 6 and killing 3 of them nearly by myself. If you cant play a spell singer or mystic muse then wow just reroll cause you arent meant for their playstyle.
do i miss something at 77 a SPS got 3 spells that can overhit
ice vortex, Solar flare, ->Solar spark<- use it on the right mob and you deal almost the same amount of damage as a hydro blast only half cost of a hydro blast
so in theory you can overhit any mob anytime you wanna
toy a bit with this 3 and you can inprove your xp's by 40% per buff time
just a tip use
Light vortex with solor spark will kill most mobs
I dont feel like wasting space by quoting Thalenduros' entire post, but if you have such an issue with sps, just reroll, cuz I know myself and Sailence and others have learned to play our class, you just apparently have not.

p.s. If a bot train is a live 76 EE friend and an empower scroll, Im probably the top farmer on Hindemith.
Did you sub a necro?
Duke, you are in the top bot clan on Hinde... Is it possible you don't bot? sure... is it likely? No.

I have only seen you XP once... and your kill rate was horrid WITH the recharger.
The only explanation I could come up with at the time was that both you and the recharger were "walking".

Sailence,

I didn't say Spellsinger/MM couldn't kill.... I said they were an easy kill against competent opponents.

So you found incompetent or under levelled/equipped opponents and killed them... grats.

A dorf can kill incompetent opponents too...

Spellsingers require some work to be a viable party addition and to bring it up to at least enough self-given mana regen to solo as well as the average melee.
I killed a lvl 77-78 archer with pof vs me with buffs and pof, he never broke my cp.

you are the one that seems to be incompetent with your classes. I have yet to die in 3 days in war with a 200+ ally. and I actively pvp. You are the one that is incompetent.

First off, please go back and read where I mentioned anything about your competency... I have a hard time believing a trained monkey would have trouble in PvP with a sps/mm... especially in the case of what most people call "pvp". (9v1 gank trains)

You are killing incompetent targets... or they are unaware.

We both know you "actively PvP" only to the point where you 9 v 1 gank and then BSoE.

A properly buffed 77+ archer with proper equipment kills a mage in ANY equipment and buffs in 1 shot 50% of the time... This isn't massive skill involved... you nuke him for 400-600 two-three times and he shoots you once (maybe twice)and you fall over. If he ses you first, he shoots, you die without touching him.

If we put trained chimps in both characters, the archer wins.
If we put massively experienced adult players, the archer wins.

If you never die then you aren't PvPing... you are either lying or don't actually PvP at all.

PvP implies risk... killing people unawares is riskless in this game as it stands. Flag and BSoE if they don't insta-die is how the majority of this game's "PvP" works.

I spent my 5x and 6x years as a spellsinger pounding mafia off the server.
Come and talk to me when your ****** drop.
yes archers are overpowered for many class's wonder what is supoce to kill a archer especaily when it comes to Draco bow and focus is like a Arcana Mace + WM2 x WM2 ability they realy sud look into this draco bow i think many people realy are anoyed with it
Titan jumping on the archer with full buffs and Frenzy, Rage, Zealot running ^^

If there were more tanks and they went out to engage the archers, and the mages stopped trying to fight on the front lines, then people would complain less about archers. There is a reason for melee, and if no one wants to play melee, then don't complain about getting pwned by your arch nemesis archer because you are in the front instead of the back.

I prefer to be level 78 with a 'horrid' killrate and time to do RL work. What lvl is your char on hindemith? Archer I assume?

Archers have same range as nukers. So nukers cant stay behind if they want to DO something right? And in interlude high lvl archers (aint that rare) will have MORE range than a nuker. Can you say GG?I cant.

of course i die, at nearly a 1/8 ratio, sometimes more, and your telling with me ice vortex, surrender to water and cancel. that owns any class. it was a 1vs1, the archer was waiting outside of town in the safe zone and he got the first shot off as i walked out. I canceled him and surrender and vortex and he dies soon after. I dont run around in 9vs1 ganks, usually im on the side out numbered.
I've been playing my SPS for quite some time, probably the most graphical usage toon there is and enjoyable to play, but big major issue with the MP refresh rate it must be fixed tired of running out of mana, sitting, go cook lunch, eat and come back to be just getting at 100%, it sucks, as for sleep nerf I agree it went insanely out of control, but I have learned to play without using it, but it means I or the party dies alot in case of emergencies.

Spellsingers are getting another nerf, in the form of now allowing shields to reduce and block magic attacks as if they were physical attacks (which they aren't).

Hydro Blast (main nuke of SpS) don't blocking by shield. :) So it's not nerf, it's boost for SpS. ;)
Actually Hawkeyes with snipe on already have a longer range, and in interlude, archers get a 100 range increase so they shoot at 1000 range! Game over, all casters dead.

I am 77 myst muse sub 78 he, and ill put it simply. I wont be playing my Mm, unless if i get hero and even then id rather not :P
