Flashing Quest Icon - Anyway to stop this?

Player Questions Started Last reply 12 posts
Hi, just got back in the game last night.

Made a new character, rolled my stuff over to her, and started playing. Its nice to be back.

A lot of little things have changed, mostly for the better. All the newbie herbs dropping made grinding to 10 a lot of fun. However, one thing was driving me bonkers.

Every single time I'd get a 'wolf claw' for that quest in DEV the blinking quest icon would show up a little above my chat window. It blinks and blinks and blinks until you click on it. Its very distracting, very annoying.

I looked all through options for some way to stop this, but I can't find the way.

Is there some way to make it so it DOESN'T put up the blinking quest icon every single time a quest item drops?
yes. it stops flashing when youre over lvl 20.
Most likely it's telling you that you have the max number of items needed for the quest and you should turn it in. It happens in more than one quest.

Thanks, Spudnik. Considering how fast 10-20 goes that's good to know.

TailChaser: If it only came up when I had all 50 claws (or all 10 fungus spore, whatever) that would be one thing. But this thing is flashing like crazy EVERY time a claw drops. All 50 times! But, if what Spudnik posted is right then I only have to put up with it for another day or two, so no biggie.

Thanks for the replies.
I've got a few lowbies and I have to say I've never noticed this before but that might be because I stop the tutorial right at the beginning.

This is a bug that I have experienced more than once and have /gm'd. Its annoying at the least.
Better dont do FoD quests then, they have that lightshow aswell.

Not sure about the DEV quest, but the problem in FoD is, that there are 2 kinds of questitems, 1 is a fixed number, 1 is an unlimited number. The questnotice starts to blink when you got all of the fixed items, and disappears normal if you click on it. But it starts blinking again if you dont take the quest back and continue collecting the unlimited items.
If you open the quest window (ALT+U), you will notice that the there is a quest which is active. That is, you can see details about this quest. If you press the - sign on the left of the quest it will revert to the general discription and stop the flashing quest icon.

The answer I was looking for.

Thank you very much!
The hot springs quest, where you kill the yetis, flavas and antelopes is REALLY annoying. It gives you the sound for when you have all items of one kind EVERY time you get an item. It doesnt matter if you have the quest open in your quest tab
Or it was like that last time I did it.
man that drove me fricken insane
you are trying to get other quest items and every time you kill another mob that agros you the quest item starts blinking and you get that quest completed sound

Last night I kept 'open' (in the quest log) one of the quests I knew I wouldn't finish last night (long chain quest). What AndreasK posted totally worked! The quest icon only popped up and started flashing when I completed my quests (not every time I got a quest drop). Phew!

Thanks again, Andreas. :)
