My First Necro

Player Questions Started Last reply 16 posts
So I just recently started a mage for the first time and decided to go with a necro... After playing for a few week I just hit lvl 45! I just had a few quick questions since I am still technically new at this style of play.

1> The summons... The guide a friend gave me says you can use them to tank, but when I use the kats to tank it feels like I spend more time worrying with them than they are worth... Am I doing something wrong?
2> Skills, what should be my top skills that I should focuse on using as I hit lvl 46? Priorities?
3> When I hit B grade what would a top setup for a necro look like?
4> What tattos should I get?
5> Where are some places I can solo at until I hit lvl 50 or so?
6> Any extra advice or tips you have for me at this point in the game?

Thanks alot guys! I'm having alot of fun with learning this new character, especially after always playing a BD.
1)use summons in pvp only. for pve is a waste of time.

2) always upgrade your main nuke (vampiric claw, CurseDeathLink, Death spike) first. get gloom, fear and whatever else you can afford after those.

3) always aim for faster casting. top B setup is usually avadon robes, Wizard Tear (acumen) or other acumen weapon with significant Enchantment) and Black Ore jewellery.

4) +4 int, +4 wit and the last one is a toss up that goes usually 3 ways and is highly debatable; either 1 more wit, 1 more int, or +4con. the +4 con helps make you a better pvp tank with your summons than without.

5) try the orcs around oren for a bit, then go to forest of mirrors. stay there till 53, then head up to the Cemetery.

6) welcome to flavour of the month.
1) Summons were good a while back when they were cheaper. They were the cheap necro's alternative to spamming bsps.

On the other hand, kats are warlock summons, not necro ones, so you can expect your necro summons (zombies and whatnot) to be quite better than your kat.

If you want to level up quickly, you should only use summons in pvp along with your transfer pain.

2) If you're a nuking necro, get your nukes first, then anything else you think you'll use (cld/b2m, gloom, para, etc). Bone spike should be your priority.

3) Avadon for casting speed, SoV or similar for acumen.

4) +4wit-4men, +1wit-1men and optional +4con-4str

5) aligator island is nice until you get your necro nukes (death spike mostly, but I think you already have that?), so is anything around Ivory tower up to outlaw forest. Forbidden gateway and fields of massacre come next, followed by valley of saints.

thanks for the constructive help... I think

as for the flavor of the month I was asked by my clan leader to make a mage, did some research and liked the necros ability to solo a bit... didnt know anything about a flavor of the month
necros are the most overpowerd mage to date. in any mmo.

your Anchor, silence, gloom and fear are the 4 most powerful spells castable on anything; anchor is para. nobody moves in para and you cant even BSOE. silence any mage and watch them bsoe ASAP as you have the instant upper hand. gloom is everyone's worst nightmare as your Mdef lowers significantly. fear the archers that try to hit you; the wont stop cause they cant.

add 50% damage reduction ON TOP of your buffs and nothing can effectively kill you if you know what youre doing.
lol dang... and i had been using blaze cause i thought it was strong....

im impressed...

i only listed the debuffs.

you want more?

lets see ... you have a main nuke that drains life. throw that in your existing mix. when would you use it? when you regen your mana. body to mind takes your HP and converts it into some MP. not a 1:1 ratio but nonetheless the skill is only available to you and Spellhowlers.

your second nuke is Death spike. it costs LESS mana to cast than anyone else's main nuke and does the same damage. lets not forget it takes 1/2 the time to cast at a cost of a cursed bone (available at hardin's academy npcs for less than the price of bsps) ... and at higher levels you can just buy spirit ores and SUMMON your cursed bones.

summon ammunition ... my oh my.

your third nuke is your most powerful; Curse Death Link is the most powerful at LOW hp and is even more powerful when your total hp is as high as possible (bless the body). how to get it there? BTM. using BSPS you can 1hit a 2x mob (would require3-4 nukes otherwise when unbuffed) and have infinte MP doing it as youll always be BTMing.

the list goes on.
all that but my main nuke shouldnt be death spike? Should it be vampiric claw?
:insert emote of finger on nose:
:insert emote :
yes, vamp claw should be ONE of your main nukes.
hey hope you have fun as a necro :) it's a true "owning" class

and yeah, spud's pretty much described how awesome your debuffs and nukes are, i have yet to win agaisnt a necro 15 lvls below me :P (not really, havent tried >.>)
well for a flavor of the month sounds like i made a decent choice..

I really am enjoying playing it, and the leveling is SO much faster than my BD lol... I almost wanna strip my bd and soley play this guy... I'm resisting the urge
You lvl slow as a BD?oO
Thats a new one...
when I had a B grade necro anchor my 72+ sps, I cried

roll necro ftw !
think everything has been covered but ill throw in my 2 cents
vamp claw is basically the only real nuke you will have for a while
it has an obscene mp cost so try to use it only in emergencies
your main nuke for the next few lvls will be blaze (yes the lvl 35 skill) once you get death spike you can start useing that but expect to lose abit of money doing so until at least 56

if you need cash its time to start cdling
dont ever use summons in pve
