Lin 2 Music

Once upon a time i could open up the lineage 2 music from the music folder and play them with winamp. it doesn't work anymore, and id like to know why. did they encode it so that your couldn't listen to the music?? its not like opening the music to listen is modifying the client (which is illegal of course) so.. has anyone else come across this or is this something unique to me? :confused:

They're just OGG file-types, which Winamp and some other players do not support natively. Getting OGG codecs is very simple and is not, afaik, against EULA, since OGG file-types are not proprietary to NCSoft.

Yes they are OGG, you just needed (past tense) the OGG plug in for winamp to play them.

But they don't play any more because ncsoft encrypted them. To decrypt them, is against the EULA I'm sure.

Winamp had native OGG play back.... You don't need a plug in to play an OGG file, but as has been said. Because they are encoded OGG files they won't play.

NCsoft is worried about people listening to the game music?

It use to, I didn't notice it was built it now.

And yeah apparently listening to it is bad :/ If there were a cd I'd buy it.

I had an old install and copied them across. The pre C4 ones play fine. Quintessentail player plays them and Ogg is a codec by Vorbis. Go to their site and theirs lost of stuff you can download. Some good tunes too.

The music files are still ogg files, just very slightly modified so ogg players do not recognize them. Changing them back or telling others how to do it is a big no-no, though. So either get a C4 installation from somewhere or use the music they provide on this web page.

If I remember well, the titles were encrypted when the L2 soundtrack was being released on Korea.

So we got the files encrypted here too, but we got no OST.

cant even set up a playlist to play l2 Music, WHILE YOU PLAY L2. thanks NC ^_^... sigh I swear NC has a cog loose sometimes.

Example: they randomly changed PlayNC passwords on everyone and give NO notification. (which totally screwed me over for a while) And completly screwed over my friend SirWolfgang who can NEVER get his account back because he doesnt have the "lineage2 code" from a BOX that he bought 3 years ago... or he doesnt have a credit card that expired YEARS AGO. And now there even encoding the music so that fans of the stuff they put together cant even enjoy it x_x? the hell.
