Spoil succes?

I have seen many treads about what kind of SAs or stats or buffs makes spoil land more often, mostly acumen and empower... today I heard from a 76+ BH ingame attackspeed is what I should get. I have never heard it befor, and I dont realy know, sounds odd.
But he was 100% sure it was true, he read it on some korean site, and also told me thats why BH bots use silver axe (haste SA)..

Is this something everyone knows about, and I missed it, or is it just some fairytales of his? :)
lol. No SA, no buff could help to spoil. it's BH lvl / spoil lvl vs mob lvl.

he could have sold you property on mars.
i think you misunderstood
all dwarf skills are physical and are therefore effected by nothing but attack speed
BH should have attack sspeed builds so they can keep up with thge insane kill speeds that most parties have these days

nothing helps spoil land
spoil lvl and player lvl vs mob lvl
yea thats what I thougth, hearing and reading on the forums...its just this guy was so sure attackspeed helped spoil land :/ and he actualy convinced another BH to sell all his gear to get tallum heavy and kesh*kesh for speed >.<
dhoo...
but yea for some places that speed might help even if it not makes spoil land better...but, most places have x4-6 HP mobs and the killing speed isent to high anyway :/
well i swear attack speed helps stun land in pve
either way spoil land rate is fairly reasonable so generally you wouldnt need to boost it
The casting time of spoil is dependant on attack speed. If you attack faster, you spoil faster. More attempts means more mobs spoiled.
Funny thing is that no hasted weapon can hope to compete with a dagger for attack speed. :> Kesh*Kesh will produce low final attack speed compared to anything held only in one hand. ^_~
Atk Speed increases the Spoil casting. And for ppl that say that emp /acu helps i can only say -> Spoil = Earth type attack / no Magic
Atleast the debuff that u get from Overenchanting the Spoil is an Earth Type DoT (Decrease HP enchant)

Only thing that Helps u later at 76+ is to use Spoil Crush (I think the landing chance from Spoil Crush is a bit higher then from normal Spoil) or u enchant ur Spoil. Got mine on +9 now and its a biiiig difference even if u have it only on +3.
Yup.. agreed.. The only affect you can have on spoil is to up atk speed, which makes your spoil go off faster and decreases it's reuse timer. Neither of which is really a big deal.

Spoilcrush seems to be just the next level of spoil, so yeah it def lands better.
if its an earth attack maybe that surrender to earth spell might finaly be usefull :x
And although a lot of people disagree with me when i tell them this, acumen may not help spoil, but it does help if your seeding, at least by cutting down the cooldown time on the seeds.
I may be superstitious, but i still feel like i spoil better stuff, more often, and get more double spoils with empower.
I used to be convinced that ending with an overhit improved spoil probability. However, I have since found that wearing sox of different colors helps just as much.

BHahahhaahahahahhahahahahahahahahahahahahhahahahah ahahahahah...yeah right.

I retired my 66 BH because spoil is BROKEN. BH's are L2's second most useless character. Great for our lil soulless friends who don't care about ratio's. They make it up with volume. But those of us who play it for the skill know different.

I found that there is no "buff", no SA no ANYTHING that helps spoil land. Period.

Spoil LAND rates are near 100% on monsters yellow or below, even on reds you'll activate land spoil fairly well. As someone who plays with a BH, spoil land rates have never been an issue.

Spoil TABLES aren't that bad either. You really need to look for good areas, though, and target specific items (e.g. A grade recipes). My friend and I made 300-400m in recipe spoils alone between level 65 and 72; the secret is finding monsters to hunt for a good profit. We didn't even always hunt at the maximally profitable areas, as we were trying to balance profit and XP.

Um....ok. I know from 1st hand experience from playing my BH from 0-66 mostly dual boxed with a PP that spoil never EVER EVER EVER is 100% on yellow or below mobs. I've personally gone 2-3 buff rounds w/o getting a spoil on what were (at one time) decent spoil rate mobs. I think the spoil rates suck and have since retired the toon. Looks like you've had a different experience...good for you. Could be that I just didn't "find" the right mobs.

BTW - There was another recent thread where people were being very vocal about the poor "spoil" tables. I think your experience is the exception to the rule.
There's a few things everyone should know about playing a BH.

1. You will either level slowly and make lots of money, or you will level fast and spend lots of money. There are a few lvl ranges where you can do both, but they are few and far between.

2. BH's are hands down, the worst PvP class in the game. You do not get any decent PvP skills until 76+, and part of that includes overenchanting your existing skills.

3. Many people will recommend leveling with a polearm for good XP. Doing so is fine if you get bored, or if you get into a hurry to get to a certain level. You should know that by doing this you are not taking maximum advantage of your most important skill - Spoil.

4. A BH should be very committed to watching the market and to monitoring fansites very closely. You need to know what types of things you are capable of spoiling at your level, so that you can spot market demand points, and then utilize this information to leverage your spoil into making the max amount of money for your time.

5. In the developers minds, BH is a money making class. If you are going to play it as such, you will need to milk the class for every penny. This includes having quests that give in demand rewards as often as possible, to go with your spoil, and your desire to work the market.

6. BH is a Clan Support Class. The Dev's have designed the class to act as a source of revenue for your entire clan. (spoil sharing)

7. BH is a mediocre solo class at best. Certainly it can be done, but it is not efficient. You are not a tank, nor are you a DD. Compared to all the other support classes, your solo ability is decent, but compared to the DD's, you suck.

8. As a BH, you should be steering your group towards the right mobs for your spoil. At first, many groups will be leery, as the XP may not be the best. I find that explaining what the mobs spoil will quickly dissolve their hesitancy. When they see enchant scrolls, high demand recipes, and hard to get components start coming in, you will find that it doesn't take long to start getting invites. This is your responsibility to the group.

9. BH is not an easy class to play, and of all the classes, it is one that requires a tremendous amount of research to play properly. It can be one of the most rewarding classes to play, but this also means it can be one of the most aggravating.

There. Mistryl, feel free to copy and paste this on to the BH description on the site.

huh?

Spoil Landing = you get the system message that Spoil has succeeded.

This is very very close to 100% on white and yellow mobs.. although it does drop slightly when the mobs are yellow to you and you are a lvl below getting a new lvl of spoil. Still, it is very close to 100%.

Spoil Working = mob turns blue and you get a sweep.
This is 100% dependant on what mob you are spoiling. Some mobs spoil 3 things at a very low rate, some spoil 3 things at a very high rate. Which means some will turn blue very often, while others will turn blue almost never. It's your responsibility to know what the mob you are spoiling gives, and how often. There are plenty of mobs in the game that turn blue like 1/3 spoils, and there are plenty of others where you are lucky to get 1/200.

How the hell did you get to 6x without knowing this?
I never had a problem with the spoil landing rates, I had a problem with the spoil tables.

The good spoils ALWAYS come from the mobs that are the biggest pain in the *** to kill, or that are in the worst xp areas.

I also think it's pretty dumb that the good stuff you want to spoil is still pretty rare (e.g. 1 in 1000 spoils).

And I also found that the spoil tables were generally not level appropriate.
1st off. AOE or SOE
There is a spell called spoil festival. it allows you to spoil all the mobs in a group. it costs less in MP when doing groups. so you can spoil more mobs in a pole party. And guess what, I'm going to sweep all of the blue mobs. you have like 10 seconds after mobs die, plenty of time to target and sweep. after you do it a few tens of thousands of times, it becomes real easy. you kill mobs faster and cheaper with the pole. if you two box, or hang with polers, you are gonna level and make money just fine.

maybe the BH is the worst PvP class. but with the weight penalty thing. if you have 2000 greater cp pots, thats one a second for over a half hour, and what is that, like 400,000 cp.
pack a lunch. at least i can keep people busy, while the archers and nukers go to work.

the dwarf isnt so bad, but you have to play it LIKE a dwarf. maybe you can't just run up and whack away mindlessly. you have to learn to use dwarf skills to play smarter not harder.
I came,I saw,I spoiled-and i got 434543 thread from a lvl 86 mob....Spoil FTL!
Ppl just want to KILL!Doesnt matter who/what/why just PWNING other guys. They will cheat/scamm/lie/backstab so they can PWN everybody else. You would think those kind of players were gonna go play CS right?
Dorfs/tank are moving walls!(IF you buff anti elemental dmg instead of focus/dw/guidence/dof)Against archers nothing helps though.
What's the point of being a moving wall if A) nobody runs into you and B) you can't run into anyone effectively?

lol

Yeah.. because the best money making spoils in the game come from places where you can AOE right?

And yeah.. if your opponent makes you chug 300k in pots.. he won the fight whether you killed him or not. More often than not.. you're going to chug 300k in pots and then die anyhow. So yeah.. smart tactic there.
Most places you AoE also got horrrrrible spoil tables, SOME places is OK but majority's of them is crap.

I also gonna defend Arigato up there, he's sure not correct about 100% land rate but it's close to 90%.

In any event you can make cash, I'm not gonna go and say where I get my good spoils from, and no it's not A grade helmet recipes thats actually not as profitable :P But in any event, theres just a tiny few things who are profitable to spoil, so not really gonna go and say it straight out :P

Most of the mobs in the game thought have really sucky spoils however, I fully agree on it.
And to add insult to injury, dwarf still can't spoil the best recipes in the game: S-grade armor and weapon recipes :-(

And to add insult to injury, dwarf still can't spoil the best recipes in the game: S-grade armor and weapon recipes :-(

That makes too much sense.. why would a spoiler, who's job is to gather rare recipes and components, and who pays for that skill by giving up all PvP ability... be able to actually do it? LOL

Naw, that should be a quest that's best done by DD's. LOL

Firstly, land rates and spoil tables are totally different.

Land rate = the rate at which you get the message "the spoil condition has been activated". It's based on the level of spoil versus the level of the monster, and is very high. Landing only gives you a CHANCE to get an item; if you fail to land spoil you get no chance at all.

IFF spoil landed successfully, when the mob dies you get a CHANCE at an item, based on that monster's spoil table. Just like drop tables, each item has a set chance, although just like drops, there is a penalty if your level is too high for the mob. Just like trying to cash in on drops, cashing in on spoils requires very selectively hunting in specific areas.

Fact is, you could be pulling in a 2-3 A grade helmets per week if you hunted those recipes then crafted the helmet (as you go for the recipes, you can manor the coba seeds that give the mats you'll use for the helmet). It's not necessarily the best moneymaker possible, but it's a good one.
lets see varnish in pilgrims, ewc's in branded, bones then bo recipes, ewb's, and enria in apostate, bones and molds in aesthetics, bo pieces, ori ore asofe, molds, mithril ore, metallic thread in matyrs, ewa's and SOP's in FP.

if im soloing with my 2 box, i can pull 4 at a time in the middle of matyrs, and get 2-4 mithril ore, a metallic thread, and an ori ore, 3-7k in adena, and 2000 green seal stones every 90 seconds. and its 60k xp to me, 40k xp to my healer, and whatever the pet takes. i am also going to cast 3-4 seeds. costs like 20-25 *** and 3 reg heal pots.

Thats not bad coin or xp if you ask me, maybe its better other places, but its the best i can do, and im happy with it.

Good god semantics FTW!!!

Yes you are correct that the spoil land rates are indeed higher then the spoil sweep rate but lets face it people they are symbiotic. One HAS to WORK for the other to have a chance at working.

What good is the spoil success rate if the spoil sweep rate doesn't? They are one and the same. They BOTH have to work to make a successful "spoil".

When I used the term "spoil success" I was talking about the SPOIL SUCCESS RATE in regards to actually SPOILING a mob and getting something for it. I am truly amazed that you really think that spoiling a mob which doesn't turn blue is a "success". By any real measure it's a failure. It's just a waste of MP.

What is the point of saying spoil rate is 100% if you don't get anything for it? Technically you are correct but at the end of the day you are still just as poor and have less Mp and nothing to show for it.

Spoil all you want and call it what you want but if the mob don't turn BLUE you got nothing.

lets see varnish in pilgrims, ewc's in branded, bones then bo recipes, ewb's, and enria in apostate, bones and molds in aesthetics, bo pieces, ori ore asofe, molds, mithril ore, metallic thread in matyrs, ewa's and SOP's in FP.

I'd recommend looking into A grade armor recipes. It's not that hard to spoil A grade helmet recipes (one recipe every 2-3 hours hunting or so in a fast-killing duo, with DC/Tallum being faster to hunt than NM/Maj) and many other A grade armor recipes have a very nice profit margin too.

We usually would do the manor for base materials (especially as the 7x manor gives VOP and Mith Alloy and Crafted Leather and all that; not needing to craft all the intermediates is VERY nice). Also, as seeds destroy drops but not spoils, having the nice spoils + nice manor rewards = a ton of cash. Spoiling a recipe and then crafting it was how we did a ton of money. We were pretty much purchasing only key items, crystals, and gemstones, the recipe was spoiled and the mats were manored.

thats the one thing that eats me up about BH
you would think that when a new grade was added the ppl to capitalize on those prfits would be dwarves
not the guy that can kill a few thousand mobs the fastest

Nope, that isn't bad. But it isn't the best of spoils for your level either.

A single A grade helm recipe is worth more than 2 weeks of all that garbage you listed, and solo you can spoil one every 3 or 4 hours. A weapon recs, including SoM are also worth more than what you make in several days. At the lower levels, BoP shafts and recipes are extremely valuable. Sure, below mid 50's, spoiling base mats is the way to go, but after that you're way better off to go for the good stuff and work a quest at the same time.

Hell if you're looking to make money selling base mats, you're wasting your time.. make a dagger and go seed, you'll make 10 or 20 times the cash.
spoil tables need to be fixed anyways...

what go and spoil 80+ mobs with a poor rate for A grade crap like maj jewels mats? only automated friends ...

A grade ends @ lvl 75 so f... that

same with all the BO / metal hardener **** no one needs from 65+ mobs ^^

u can hunt a recipe for days and nothing happens, even on beastfarm ...

and a "real" player dont 24/7 , ban the eulaviolators, increase spoils (and fix the lvl of mobs in spoiltables)....

..... and all will be fine

NCSoft has demonstrated over the past 3 years that they either have no intentions of dealing with the EULA violators or that they are incapable of doing so.

It's about time they simply take them into account and fix the dwarven classes which have had their "economic advanatage" destroyed.

the real question is does it matter in korea?
the way i hear it real money trade is an integral part of the way L2 works so if thats the case dwarves are prolly working as per design
From what I understand in Korea, 3rd party proggies are pretty looked down upon, but they are much more into organisation that we are here. Especially at the clan and alliance level.

I don't know if the EULA is the same for NA as it is for KR.
I guess my point is, that i don't think that playing a dwarf is bad. I keep up leveling wise with people who only play a couple hours every day after work. overall, I make good xp, make good money, and I like spoiling, and i like crafting. but just want other dwarf wanna be's to know, that you just have to use your strengths, and you can make it, and not listen to all the people who constantly say they suck and are useless, and should all jump off a cliff. My clan likes me, and I like me. I have been able to make enough money to keep playing and have top gear. if i kill mobs 3 times as slow, then i just have to kill 4 times as many mobs at a time.

I can seed just as fast as other classes. I solo a lot, and have taken a 1-2 rooms by myself and kept up with spawn in the cats since i was low b grade. with both types of dwarves. I never have a hard time finding a party, if i want to. in fact, usually i pick up peeps in clan or alliance who want somewhere to hang and need somewhere to go.

I agree that NCSoft sticks it to dwarves, but maybe if there were more of em, it wouldnt be so fun.

Favorite skill: craft shot.
2nd favorite: spoil festival.

weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

So then your orignal complaint was that the mob you were trying to spoil wasn't turning blue? That's your own fault for not knowing that it had a rare spoil.

I wish it were that simple. I attempted to "spoil" everywhere I was able on mobs that were yellow to light blue and had very very poor success over time. Comparing my "success" with those of other people (My clan mates for example) I was getting useful "spoils" on par with their successful useful mats drops. There simply was no advantage to playing a dwarf...for me at least.

Anyway I suck with it for a long while (and I liked it and I am not unhappy that I did it) because I liked the ability to hunt with my Prophet and not have to stick to a specific schedule and dependency of others to play. I had hoped that the spoil "skill" would make up for the $$ disparity but I was wrong...the $$ never materialized. I never made more then those other people who played different classes.

I just think that Spoil should be better applied to the class to make it a bit easier to get difficult items which would make the class more attractive to clans (for material drops at least) and allow us some clan love…I can count on one hand how many times I was asked to come be in a group so I could "spoil" something useful. I usually had to beg to be included and then I was about as welcome as the short, fat little brother of your best friend.

Sigh….
You're sort of right. If you spoil the right mobs, which takes considerable research, then you will make more than someone who does not spoil. However, if DD class goes seeding, he will stomp you into the dirt with the income he makes off the manor.
which really makes it amazing, when you think about the manor. even with the manor, and you know whatzis, its still hard to satisfy the needs of the players. you almost need those groups that just make adena and mats, and consume almost nothing, just to acquire gear.

if i had to think if there were no manor or no you-knows, you couldnt have enough BH's to spoil the hundreds of thousands of say bones consumed every day.

its like the system wants a certain element in it.

You should spoil in the areas added in C4. They tend to have the best spoils at your level. All of them are pretty decent spoiling; we spoiled 8 A grade helm recs, ten or so A grade weapon recipes, hundreds of A grade jewelry recipes, 30 or so EA:B, 5 or so EA:A. You should never hunt in areas that don't spoil recipes or enchant scrolls, they're the only things really worthwhile.

A grade helmet recipes? Have you ever tried Legacy of Insolence? It's absurdly hard to get those recipes without spoiling them. Spoiling them is trivially easy compared to questing them; you can get recipes several dozen times faster by spoil than by grinding TOI. When most in our clan didn't have full A grade, we had many, many bounty hunters groups formed to hunt them.

In fact many/most A grade recipes are best obtained by spoil. The helmets tend to be the most desired because the quest is just abysmal, but the other A grade spoils are usually much easier than questing.
It wants more spoilers and manorers? :) The amount of live BHs is quite small compared to the rest of the population.

Very Funny! I just thought of a way to make that short, fat little brother much more attractive.

Raid Boss Only Unique Spoils!
the A grade helmet recipe spoils on beastfarm is like the only useful thing a dorf can do 55 - 7x+. had my A ready at lvl58 that way, even my buffers got A ...

but i tried near every 60+/70+ spot that for a single dorf w/buffer possible and most spoil BO + garbage...

btw, i've just figured on PTS that NC forgot the AOE SWEEP AGAIN !!!

fix that and dorf get alot in party ... AOE partys , the only real way to lvl ...
and for the ones that say aoe with dorf is fine = get bit higher and do that with REAL mobs, pre 60 is VERY easy later u dont have time to get any spoils w/o aoe sweep or huge party...

far as i've seen dorfs dont get anything good (like REAL skills) in interlude...

so, quick back to beastfarm, the only place in game where dorf can make $$ ^^
(if u can find a spot w/o eulaviolators on *cough*)

Yeah, those are the most common spoils to grind for cash on, but ALL of the C4 areas spoil good. Beast farm, FOD, and SOS spoil A grade recipes, and VOS spoils EA:B at very high rates, we've gotten as many as 8 in a day. Hot springs spoils EA:A, possibly also some A recipes, I don't really recall.

This has been my experiece. I've also tried everywhere possible that me and my poor buffer could duo and all I got was garbage (that is when it Spoil actually worked).

Go go Metal Hardner!! or Metallic Fiber!! Sigh..

BTW - Regarding the Beast farm..what did you have to "feed the mob" to get it to the "A" Helm receipe? To the 2X level? Or 4X? Or not at all? Golden vs. Crystal any difference?

Thanks,
Feed the Buffalos Golden spice up to 4x HP for a shot at DC & Tallum helm recs.

Feed the Cougars Crystal Spice up to 2x for a shot at Majestic helm recs.

Not sure about NM.. I know it's the cougars, but don't recall the type of spice or level.

btw - for best results, bring a couple friends to feed them, and a DD or two to help you spoil/kill them.

Faster Kill speed = more recs.

Thanks for the info. I'll be going after the Tallum stuff...kinda figured that it'd be the 4X mobs which take a metric buttload of SS to kill.

Oh well. BTW- I have no friends willing to help with this so it'a all me on my BH and my PP.

I found that the people who also need helmet recs are usually more than willing to help. ;)

(Since that mob spoils DC and Tallum helm recs.. you might hit up a few mages or possibly archers or healers to give you a hand.)

Well were it to be so, but all my "friends" in game are allway beyond this low level and even then only a select few would have even been willing to go out and help...but such is life.

Thanks for the info.

So i will give you a advice... change clan. BH is treasure in this times, so clan which don't want to support his own money maker doesn't deserve for him.
kookas:
melee 4x golden = tallum boot rec
mage 2x golden = lance blades
crystal 2x = b shaft + blades (+ dc boot rec drops)

buffalos:
mage 4x golden = dc helmet rec
melee 4x golden = tallum helmet rec
melee 2x crystal = dc boot rec

cougars:
melee 2x crystal = maj circlet rec
mage 2x crystal = ew a
mage 4x golden = nm helmet rec
melee 2x golden = maj ring + earing rec

trained pet heals u + give buff like haste2 / vr3
so u dont need anyone for party except ur own buffer ;)

they dont want dorf in high party ?? let em bleed for the gear...

Excellent...thanks for the info.

Actually all the guys I play with are WAY WAY past this and in S grade so they don't have a burrning need to get the recs any longer. No biggie. I can do it on my own. Got the Maj circlet rec. last night. Working on the tallum rec tonight for my prophet. Now I just gotta find a spot without soulless ones...

Thanks again.
I want a BH in any high group, doesent everyone? MOS, IT, pagans, I love BHs!!!
