I'm still fairly new to this game, and i'm level 17 going on 18 and have been soloing all the way. I havent seen many people when grinding and i don't see any "LFG" options or anything in my menus to register for one. Am i supposed to keep soloing until i get to a certain lvl or am i just unlucky?
Most of the starter areas tend to be on the empty side. When you get to Gludin and beyond, try shouting using the ! key (that is: !Lvl 80 SH LFG) with whatever info it is you're wanting to pass on. There is a party matching area, but at least on Bartz there aren't usually many low level characters that use it. Also, depending on your class make sure you keep an eye out for RG (raid group) shouts for your level range. Sometimes they take awhile to set up but these can be very fun, and you get a chance to meet new people around your level. Good luck to you!
On my server, you see a few people in Gludio and Gludin, but they also tend to be on the empty side. You don't really see too many people until you get to Dion, which is like mid-20s to 40 hunting areas.

regardless of what you do, some people prefer to keep to themselves playing this game and have fun doing that. we call these people names like carebear, and noob, but its only jealousy in its most basic form.
consider: level 1-20 all mystics were created equal. 1-20 all fighters are created equal. starting from 20 everything changes. your equipment becomes more powerful and precious; levels are similarly harder to acquire without proper gear and skills; grouping beginning at this point will help you familiarize yourself with the rest of the multitudes of players and their skills.
but still many prefer the solo route; should you choose this prepare to be killed by those greedy for your hunting spot.
everyone can solo; there are some classes that have it harder to do so, and thus become party dependant like the Bishop. or the Elven Elder.
even though they CAN solo, most that play those classes DONT. their skills are better used in groups.
tip: make friends. whether or not you group with them is up to you. in making friends you also make connections. this will help you find a group even if you are not looking for one.
here's a tip. NEVER shout lfg. you're overextending yourself and using a less personal, less direct request. go to an area in which you can solo, with green or white mobs, and see if there are any other people there soloing. probably they're having just as hard a time as you are, and if you pm them and ask nicely, you can make friends really quickly this way. it might be easier on devianne because there is still an influx of new greek players, but i had no problem last week getting from 20-31 with raid parties, or 31+ finding pickup parties in heretics, execution grounds, and death pass. if you sit in town shouting, other players out in the field wont be able to see your clan, gear, 1337 skillz, cute ponytails, etc, that may make them more comfortable to party with you.
Thanks everyone for the advice. Looks like i'll be soloing a bit longer least till 20 and will try at that tme. I like soloing fine, but it's a little boring when it's just me and some npcs. I'll also look into the clan thing. Much appreciated!
