Hi, I just started and I could tell right off money is not easy to get, so I was wondering about classes that arent money dependant, because I dont think I'll have too much time to farm all the time.
Are magic users easier on cash (or are robes just as expensive as buying heavy armor and such?) Also, do Dark Avengers/Gladiators make it into teams well, I was thinking about going into one of those if I decide to stick with a non-magic class. Thanks.
Actually the thing with healers is that we are very cheap to gear.
The downside is that we have almost zero ways to make money on our own. You can't do most quests, you can't solo without it being outrageously expensive, and in parties all your adena, drops, and spoils are always split with everyone else. So it all evens out. People have this idea that healers rake it in because we don't spam SS or need top weapons, but it's just not true.
Basically any healer/buffer doesn't have to be gear dependent.
-Bishops spend a bit of money on spirit ore for heals if they so chose to use that heal. Same goes for the Elven Elder.
Prophets, WC, SE, they don't need to spend anything if all they do is buff.

Magic users are initially expensive due to weapon/SA, BSPS and robe set completeing items. (Robes themselves are pretty cheap, unlike most heavy armor.) Later game, you still two shot mobs with BSPS, but drops keep rising in value. Thus you make more cash than a melee does at those levels. This stays pretty constant until you hit the 70's. Availablity of some buffs and your class stats make some nukers much better at this than others.
From cheapest to most expensive, classes to play are:
1)Healers - Your heavily reliant on getting groups/duo though.
2)Summoners (Warlock or Phantom Summoner) Your Summon does most of the work, so your main expenses are pre-40 gear and crystals to summon with. Solo ability is high with a summon, and in groups you could just summon cubics instead of a summon and it would benefit most parties as much.
3)Mages. See above. High damage = constant costs to kill, while drops rise steadily. (Necro and Elemental summoner fit in here on the high and low ends...)
4)Archers. Quite expensive in lower grades due to SS cost...in B grade and above these costs come down considerably. More reliant on buffs than a nuker, but high crit damage means they just get better rather than worse like most melee.
5)Daggers. A lot like archers in how SS and gear scale versus level and the effectiveness of buffs in making leveling adena efficient.
6)Melee. Anything not reliant on Blunts fits in here. Unless your deleveling in the sub 40 range, your ranging from losing a bit of cash with SS spam to making a little bit with SS spam. Destroyers with a 2H sword sit near the top of this pile and most tanks sit on the bottom with everyone else in between. Tyrants range from top to bottom of this list depending on their level and totem use.
7)Dwarves. Supposedly able to make more money, but also the most costly.
EXCEPTIONS) If you can find a regular group to AOE with or someone to buff and heal you, then AOE parties are one of the best ways to make cash. Pole skills are required if you are melee but not a heal/buffer. Nuker AOE isn't nearly as efficient due to the mob limits, but can be better for MP use and BSPS efficiency in a good nuker AOE group. You will however want good equipment when you do this however.
summoners are cheap? o.O
SS for your summon is almost a must, or else you will level very slow. you CAN skip SS on the summoner, but at low-lvl (lower then lvl60) you will level a LOT faster if you use SS on the summoner, but yea, its not a must. you prolly still need bsps for heals tho, or your heals may be outdamaged in tricky situations. you need Ccrystals for the summon.
and then we have the cubics.... :/
soo...what do we have?
we "MUST" use:
*shots on summon
*C-crystal to summon
*bsps in tricky situations
this wont be CHEAP, in best case its average cost.
what would help you a lot if you used:
*shots on the summon (30-100% faster xp up to lvl60 is nice)
*D-crystals for cubics. erggg...its a OK cost if you use your single cubics for your self. BUT, the party cubics are EXPENSIVE!
with this, its NO WAY you can break even, defenitly not in a group, probably not even soloing fully buffed.
and no, no RANDOm party would let a summoner in just to summon their party cubics then sit.. maybe a clan would, but without a summon out summoners arent realy helpfull at all.
what do you expect of the game? and how do you wanna play? getting adena isent the most important thing.
lets say you decide to go with a cheap class, like a prophet (you can stay in Bgrade robe and Cgrade wep untill you are lvl80) and at lvl60 you are so boored with your toon so you will quit.
if you ask me, its better to roll a toon you think you will like to play, and maybe not always be able to get the top gear.
ofc, you could roll 2 toons. there is no law that you have to stick to one toon and get it to lvl80.
(Im playing 8 toons...)
Well, seeing as how it seems all classes are somehow expensive in one way or the other, ill probably just go with my original plan and make a gladiator or dark avenger.
I also have another question. I was reading about subclasses, and was wondering if subclasses were weaker then your main class in any way (though it probably doesnt concern me that much, I doubt ill make it that high in a long time.)
all mages are pretty cheap
you damage mainly comes from nuke power and not your uber +16 weapon so you can afford to skimp abit
dont really need good armor because you shouldnt really be gettint hit
summoners can lvl nakid
it will be slightly slower but you literally dont need a weapon or armor to play as a summoner
healers can make do with a low NG weapon all the way to 80 if they want
your mp pool will be abit lower if you dont upgrade your robes but honestly you could prolly go 0-80 in NG armor as well
You can play summoners expensive OR cheap. You won't level uber fast, but it is much easier to do it with a summoner than most other characters. Exactly how cheap depends on which summoner your playing. (And how/where your grinding.)
Hey! If I can get an Overlord to L61 just by soloing with a Wolf (85% of the time, and no SS/BSPS) and I really can't buff or heal him, then it can't be much harder with a summoner, who's designed to buff and heal their pet. (and my gear was and isn't all that uber either.)
As for mass cubic costs, only the Warlock's is $$$ expensive. The others are actually **** cheap if you consider that they are best used in groups 4 or larger and how much adena you will get in the time they are active.
And if you REALLY want to level cheap (and Uber slow) then pull out the PVP summon (1 D crys!) and just use that. In a field area with herb drops, just grind with that until you get some cash, then switch to another or go party when you want to XP.
I spam spiritore for Gmight/Gshield/PoF.
I spam SSS/SpS while hunting if possible.
I need more equip for oly than nukers/dds/tanks.
DDs can use Bg weaopns and still do nice dmg, I wouldnt do any dmg w/ Bg weapons.
I dont Have to spam SSS/SpS...DDs dont have to spam it either and solo w/o shots w/ buffpet w/e easily.
And as someone said, we cant solo quests, solo seed etc etc.
probably gonna get flamed but if you dont mind slow lvling and next to no pvp dwarf isnt bad... As a war smith if you work and find all the stuff you need to craft your wep and armor you can have top in any grade, but bounty hunter can make alot with spoils if you get to keep them with what ever parrty you are in..
