Pally Vs. TK

Phoenix Knight
These hallowed Paladins worship the god of light to protect their lord and uphold justice. Phoenix Knights use healing spells invoked by the blessing of the god of light. They are guardian knights who fight to protect fellow knights rather than to kill the enemy .

Eva's Templar
Eva's Templar is a prestigious title conferred on the strongest Temple Knight protecting Eva and the forest of the Elves. Knights who presented their swords to the goddess Eva, who became the guardian of water and the elves following the fall of Shilen, their top priority is protecting colleagues rather than destroying the enemy .

just one observation ... if we are baiscly here to do the same job then why are we so different in so many ways ? Why are TK so much worse off than Pally when it comes to protecting their buds and killing undead ?

Tk has - Cubics, Aegis, Slow skill, AOE root Undead .. that's about it

Pally has - 2 controlable heals that can be cast on party members, Shield Stun, AOE root anything, Instant kill on undead, longer range of Arrest, Angelic Icon < which imo goes against the "only protect the grp", Majesty, and Sanctuary.

Just why are we so different ?
can't answer you there bud, I'm a SK
i honestly dont know much about it, but humans usually get the good stuff..BUT if its any consolation, Pally's are slow as hell tankers.
Yea, if you need to run back to the camp before protecting your colleagues, forget the paladin :)
The speed difference between elves and humans is there but not that great when buffed.

TKs need more love than a hate cubic.
/signed on TK love... they do truly need something other than a hate cubic.
i dont mean the damage speed but the Pull speed. Pally's get more choices tho. PULL speed or Defense.. as an SK i kinda HAVE to pull to defend myself x_x

how so?
aren't light elves pacifists at heart??
they are built around a central point of defense -- not offense

I'm not sure -- just wondering

In order to heal myself I must attack. Or stand around and regen, in order for a paly to heal themselves they just.. do it. and then can attack.
The defensive classes in this game have one central problem: Their defense is not as superior to that of the offensive classes as the offense of the offensive classes is superior to theirs.

The same holds true even here.

And defense should be stronger than offense by default, as defense does not help you level faster. ;)

My max defense at level 54 (no +'s and still in alot of FP gear) i s around 1050 MAX that is at LOW HP as well using final fortress 2 AND guard stance which eats MP like crazy. today i tried to kill a group of dark blues (x4 **) and died, when my buddy level 46 Dwarf in FP killed them all, why? because his offense was better than mine, and he had a lance to hit them all at once. but even if i had a lance chances r .. id have died. Offense dominates almost everything in this game. if it wasnt for my affinity for the underdog I would have quit a long time ago, but i sitll have Hope for my SK.. Who only does the most damage out of the tank classes because his skills waste more money -.-; and more MP

No.

That pretty much sums up tanks.

I have also said for years that the TK is underpowered and needs a boost. They at least need to make their aoe root work on more than just undead.

Haha atleast I am catching up to you in lvls =) Are you still 74 ?
pk win every time
Defense in Lineage 2 got shafted badly... even though the main point in a siege for the defenders is defense... even though it has become a arena in the outer courtyards pretty much.

Defense classes are now only good for large multi HP dungeons and raids. Boost them beetches. Oh and just a little saying: A sword swung by a child is still a sword.
There is a way to re-balance the tanks which invariably involves a bit more code work, however IOT not to disassemble the whole p.def vs p.atk equation it would need to be done as yet another "mastery" for the tanks.

This is now in the suggestion thread territory, but what the heck I'll crack on anyway.

A "Parry" passive mastery, implemented as a defensive skill. This way it would counter the "offensive" skill arsenal of the melee DD's. Give it an equivalent level break up, acquisition curve and success rate to shield masteries, with the effect of reducing the incoming p.atk by the p.atk of the defenders weapon.
In addition, crit parries resolve in 1 pt of damage as per per crit shield block.

It would put back the defensive into tanks, have no effect on any magic and on ranged arrow effects. At such time as the tank closed to within melee range with an archer, where the arrows were fired point blank, they would be treated as melee effects and given a chance to be parried. This would form an additional layer of defense in melee where knights are supposed to make a difference.

Make it heavily influenced by dex and the TK gets a decent boost as well, ;)

Cheerio,

Absolutely, I graduated about a year back so my playtime went from 10-20 hrs per week average to about 1-5 hrs. Sometimes I wonder why I keep paying NCsoft, but it's only 30 bucks. I'm not complaining though, I just wish there were more hours in a day. L2 is a riot but on the lower end of my "things to do with free time" list.

The paladin has felt a heavy boost, but I think it's important to keep the two classes different. I think adjusting the aoe root on TKs to mass shackle would really equate the two classes. It would leave TK as the still ultimate defender as long as there is infinite mana around. And with +6 armors boosting mana regen, I think the long term goals of a TK are very possible.

problem is melee DDs are meant to beat tanks
you cant just throw extra defense at tanks without destroying what little remains of the balance between knights and warriors
Ok - from PTS

We can block magic now, with bless shield 6 on it is almost every attack. When that happens we add our shield pdef to our mdef. Shield fortress - toggle that on. Suddenly your mdef goes up even more when you block.

Deflect arrow on PTS - absolutely awesome. NO complaints here!

Against melee DD? Well, at lvl 77 paladins get shield bash. If it lands it shuts down their skills for a good 30 seconds. Can't complain here. It will be a close fight but hey, you can shrug them off if shield bash lands.

I am extremely happy with the blocking changes on the PTS. Of course I still can't kill anyone as a paladin, but, they have to waste 5 minutes of their time to kill me now :)

The whole RPS system was a joke to begin with.

We will still lose to mages, the difference is, we aren't a free kill anymore and we can't be killed in the time it takes to run up and shield slam them once.
i keep telling ppl when they get around to adding the RPS system its gonna be fricken awesome!!!!

RPS system sucks i admit but the only other systems availiable are "my class should beat all other classes" and "all classes should have a 50/50 chance to beat any other class" and my personal favorite "im a nuker im meant to be able to kill every other class, if you want to beat ppl you should play a nuker"
