Just curious if anyone has an opinion about good class/subclass combinations. What would be a good subclass for a Bishop/Cardinal, for example? Can a mage effectively subclass a fighter class? Are there any ineffective combinations?
Yep... no relation. Subclassing (imo) is only good for clan needs and rerolling (or alt) without actually making one. The only things that stay the same between your classes are inventory, warehouse, appearence, and friendlist.

well inventory and warehouse slots change
apperance is the same but a dorf nuker always looks cooler
and you can delete your friends list, noone will wanna party with your gimp lvl 40 sub :P
basically a completely different toon (think reroll but starting at lvl 40 with all skills)
The only thing that can be related to class/subclass is equipment. If you want to make subclassing cheaper, then you can choose a class that can use more or less the same equipment as your main class, so you can save some money.

quite right on this one but there is another thing that is vital on choosing subclass.
what i mean is, r u going to solo? make a sub thats lvling fast solo (mage/archer, both classes really expensive to lvl up).
have good and many friends to lvl up with? make a support class.
r u kind of poor? make a sub that you can use your old equipment (if havent sell already).
you re missing mats/parts to equip your main? make a Bounty Hunter so you can farm tons of mats/parts, so when you get noble on your sub, your main will be fully equipped.
where you a support class on your main? make a sub that rules in pvp.
its all about what you re into.
personally, i chose the cheap way. i know its not the best or fastest but its the cheaper. HE main/TH sub.
