Well been thinking about rerolling to prophet because kinda bored with current main and i want magic skills but i dont care for nukers.. (to many **** bandwagon nukers)
So my question is what tats should i get for it wep/armor for C and B grade i got Ag armor and wep from my dwarf... Should i go ranged with a bow in heavy armor or melee with a sword an a shield?
any advice would be welcome. not to many prophet mains anymore that i see.. thanks
As a mystic, you will have an accuracy penalty using bow or polearm (i think -8 to accuracy). If you add it to your already low accuracy (due to low DEX) and the weapons low accuracy, it might be a problem using a bow. My WC didn't fare so well using it (although I had +3 DEX tatoo and accuracy buff). I guess a prophet won't be any better with it.
most prophets i knew back before they all became dual boxed they used duals for weapons and had 2 sets of armor robes for party and light or heavy for solo. i'd suggest duals with crit sa and plated leather for C armor (cant beat +4 str/-1 con), not sure bout B grade armor.
Bow consumes mp and as AndreasK said, you will have low accuracy, low casting speed, low attack speed w/bow or pole.
On lower lvls, dagger + shield , on higher lvls either sword + shield or 2handed weapon (cuz of SS cost).
Any DD armor is viable for battleproph, you can even use light armor and tank pretty well.
But be prepared that your killing speed will be slow, that battleprophet is quite expansive class and on higher lvls your xp progress will almost stop w/o parties anyway.
Even tho, we are used and known mostly as buffpets only In my opinion, prophet is one of the most enjoyable class for me (if you dont want pwn in pvp tho) and active prophet does much mro ein group than just assting dd etc.
thank you all for the responces.. I am not really worried about slow lvling haha i play a WS now... i guess 2 handed wep and heavy armor should be good.. Nya what tats do you have on yours? +dex-str? or +str-con?
not really planning on soloing but dont want to be the buffer who just sits in a party. I want to be in the action :p but the option to solo is something i need also guess i will go +str-con. ty :)
as a battle Prophet in B grade i have Blue wolf robes and a SOV with Acumen which i use for soloing undead (which is what the majority of my lvling is done with) and for partying
And i still use Plated leather and duals for soloing other mobs.(which i don't do too much any more)

If you want to buff and fight then I suggest going WC since this is the best soloing/party buffer/assistant DD from all buffer classes. Orc mages are by definition a hybrid between buffer and melee. Along with prophet, they are the only buffers that get heavy armor masteries. Their stats and buff set (specially WC) make them ideal for such gameplay.
sad is that WC is not hybrid between buffer and mele...WC is best buffer mixed w/ melee...proph is not best buffer anymore and w/ horrible melee abilities...but meh...
WCs are ugly green frogs
Prophs ftw
at in FotD, proph soloing is very nice and exciting/funny...i even duoed w/ other prophet there or w/ se...good old times ...i wish there is highlvl fotd location w sacred weak mobs w/ lot of dangerous magic skills and weak pdef

Here is the description of Orc Mystics:
"Their command of ancient magic has given Orc Mystics tremendous political influence within Orc society. As Orcs, they are physically stronger than mystics of other races, but most believe their magic effects to be weaker."
Their physical stats (STR,CON,DEX) are much better than any other mystic and in combination with their melee oriented buffs, they can outperform solo any buffer class (equally geared). Moreover, their ability to solo is not limited to certain mob vulnerabilities (sacred weakness) and their ability to stun, drain and the soul cry toggle beats anything that other buffer classes may have.
WC is best buffer mixed w/ melee
Agreed, specially if you have also an SE in the group...

Haven't played any prophet, so I take your word for it.
WC doesent need an SE. WC got their own VR and their drain is better then any SE heal. ofc if you wear heavy, the drains will be slow :/
The initial reference was for a wider melee party. Maybe I didn't make it clear. What I meant is that the combination of WC and SE works well in a party (>4 people). All classes (physical and magical) get their mostly needed buffs. Additonaly, it is very efficent MP wise since I do all main buffs and SE does only a few, thus saving mana for heals and recharges. There only a few cases where a dedicated healer is needed.
Becuase SE has empower and recharge. In general exp parties that I participate, you can find melee types and mage types. I have all buffs that melee usually need (Patk, Pdef, crit. rate/damage, VR, evasion, accuracy) and accumen (as SE) for mages. With SE's empower the group is quite sufficient in buffs. During battle, SE can use most of his MP for heal and recharge and I can DD and CC. And we never run out of MP.
As a general remark: I never had an EE in any clan. Not only that, but I have never even been in an out-of-clan party with one. I think they are pretty rare.
on PP i used crit duals and plated leather in C and Damascus/focus and doom light w/ shield in B... now the only xp he gets is when i forget to boot him out of party
