Orc Mystic Issues

Player Questions Started Last reply 11 posts
Well, its not an issue as such, more an indepth question lol. I started a human knight on Bartz, got to level 28, then bartz started lagging really bad for about 2hours, showed no signs of stopping so decided to have a go on a different server. Went on Teon and made an orc mystic. Now i like my orc mystic, more than my knight, but i feel that both of the classes ive tried arent really all they should be. Now i understand ive still got a world of levelling to get through before im genuinely powerful, but the human knight class seems to be lacking in power, and the same can be said for the orc mystic.
Although the Orc Mystic is tougher defense wise than the other classes mystics, power is a little weak. Like i watch human mystics around my level one hit killing lots of enemies, while i have to use frost flame/chill flame to gradually kill them, and life drain isnt that efficient as its expensive on mana, and doesnt do that much damage.
Alot of the lacking areas are my own fault, like i still have the cedar staff while im at level21, which sucks, but i saved for nice armour first, and ive now got the mythril tunic and stockings.
So my question is(finally lol), does the Orc Mystic become more useful later on, as currently, it seems a little wishy washy? I know its less of a damage dealing mystic more a party helper, but have i let myself in for level after level of being not quite good enough?
Any help is greatly appreciated lol.
Ben
orc mystic, if you will become WC, you will be the strongest buffer, great 1v1, superior in pvp/pve etc etc
if you will become OL, you will be most important toon in large pvp/sieges, but you will suck in pve tho
You picked two SUPPORT classes that are, in a way, kind of similar!

Neither is really intended to kill anything (lol). Both are somewhat slow to level solo pve.

Both have support roles that shine later on (though the orc mystic REALLY shines--much more so than the human knight).

Human toons aren't all gimped...but you've already decided to go either Pally or DA so it's a long road on that one unless you have opportunity for group support of your leveling (playing partners, aoe parties, academy raids, etc.).

One other similarity (though I only played orc mystic to 35)--both of these classes start slow.
In fact, until they come into their own later on, "SLOW" describes them quite well...slow running, slow hitting, slow leveling, slow to progress solo.....
That doesn't mean they aren't valuable or fun. Coudos to you for not rolling an archer and being a gank punk!

GL and focus on the orc caster--you'll eventually have a LOT of friends (even long before A-grade!!!!).
long post coming, beware.

let me highlight for you some things you arent yet aware of regarding your chosen classes (knight and orc mystic)

both classes are the higest Con values among their equals. among the support classes, unbuffed, the orc mystic has the highest Con (highest HP, hardest to stun), and the human knight having one of the higher Con values IN THE GAME.

the effectivness of your classes is surreal; the human shield defence rate is quite high even self buffed, the orc mystic being the HARDEST class to silence, with the highest Men in the game. sure you may cast slow, but its very hard to land a debuff on you; throw in some +++men values from armor (and now from refined weapons) and theres no keeping your magic at bay apart from raid curses.

all the tank classes are actually quite potent damage dealers; i say that without fear of retribution or rebuke because of the reasons i will use to qualify that statement; each tank posesses skills to keep the focus of a mob upon THEM alone. be that rooting, hating, or general weapon swinging. the skills themselves don't dish out the damage; but when under any of these skills, your party may continuously deal damage. this is the essence of damage dealing. hitting once for 6000 damage, any archer can do. hit REPEATEDLY on that channel, requires the target to not move. in this sense, the orc mystic can also be quite the damage dealer. with AOE rooting, and many other aoe skills, the orc's role in damage dealing is not one to be done solo.

that said, all classes regardless what they are are effectively more potent in groups. bishops in BIG groups, tyrants in small groups with SE's, summoners (afer a certain level) in any group.

if you had to ask me what is preferred... groups. nevermind WHAT you are just make sure you do what you do and help others do the same. in doing so your effectiveness of class will be phoenominal.
orc mystics:
are extremely difficult to level (solo) at higher levels due to lack of dmg output compared to other classes. both develop their important buffs much later in game compared to their human/elf buffers counterparts. if you go warcrier (WC) you will find parties alot easier then if you go overlord (OL)
In the endgame WC gets more friendly buffs for melee, whereas OL gets more for mages. both are support class in pvp and pve

just to show how genius ncsoft is: WC will be getting powater in interlude (c6) and OL will most likely be getting pofire in c7 or whatever it will be called, ty ncsoft your logic is superb as usual for giving powater to WC

human knight:
you can go either paladin or dark avenger (DA)
both classes have the strongest stun in game, ultimate defense (UD), and hate. both classes role is to provoke monsters/enemies onto themselves so that squishy party members can do what they do best - KILL

paladins are undead killing machines, spcialzing in healing party members, and get 360 degree shield and nice aoe root

DAs get a very nice summon (panther) that actually does alot of dmg in pvp and pve, also are able to slow enemies (important in pvp) which does not allow your enemies to kite you easily, and drain corpse which allows them to keep on going w/o breaks even in non-solo areas. both can solo alot easier then orc mystics

my advice to you, if you are going to join a clan, try to find a clan with Clan Hall, it would make your life ALOT easier.
A few comments on both options:
-A tank is cheaper than an orc mystic. Just need an armor, a shield and a sword or blunt and you have a well equiped tank. For Orc mystics to be effective you need much more (and different) equipment. Specially if you want to do both solo and parties, you will be needing two armors and maybe two weapons. Unless you have some friends that can financially support you, that is not easy (I had one and it was still dificult)
-As many people said orc mystics shine later in the game. That is both good and bad. It might be harder for you in the begining as every other buffer gets similar buffs like yours much earlier, but then again, you have something to expect as levels rise. Tanks on the other hand have a steady growth and they gain more or less the same skills as levels go by.
-As someone else said, they are both support characters. A tank's main job is to keep the party alive by drawing all fire on him. A tank dies hard, but usually is the first to die in a party. His life is very dependant on the existance of an experienced healer and damage dealers. An orc mystic's primary job is to buff. Secondary jobs are crowd control, damage dealing, debuffs (for OL) and partial healing.
-I think any class can be interesting if you like it's playstyle. The human knight's playstyle is almsot the same from level 1. Orc mystic's style changes as you change levels (for exmple, you are much more mage oriented below C-grade and almost completely melee oriented after it and then change again on 6x+)
Thanks for the advice. Ill definitely stick with it. Hoping to hit 24 today so ill have some nice new skills lol. Gotta get myself a reasonable weapon as soon as i can, as thats what is hindering my solo leveling atm. I usually level with my partner in crime, who started an Orc fighter as the same time as me. He does the damage to a big mob with his pole, and ill use chant of life to top his hp up.

Btw, if anyone is around level 24/25 and fancies leveling or doing some raids, PM me in game, the names Gardonos. Currently based in Gludin/Gludio.

Thanks again for the advice :)

Ben
You don't need robes to party, it just helps tremendously. :)

If you need to cast all your buffs, your MP bar is not enough. So you need extra mana. That can happen by two means: either robes or a weapon with mana up or conversion SA (after C-grade).

Since your primary role in a party is buffing, you'd better be ready to give what you got. Only if there is another buffer in the party to share buffs can spare you the need of robes.

You wouldn't happen to be looking for a clan on Teon? :) We would be more than happy to get some more Green Power in our ranks. Can't contact you ingame right now, killing time at work ^^ I'll try to contact you later today, or just reply here.
Myself and my buddy are both looking to join a clan, we are both lvl24 now, hes an Orc Raider. We've been offered a spot in an academy, but the clan member i was talking to about it is unsure whether there are two spots free, and im not joining without my partner, as we agreed to stick as a team through the game.
Hopefully talk to you later.
Cheers for the help everyone.
