Nightmare Light for poling

I have never seen anyone use Nightmare Light when poling so I may be missing something important ... but ... when I look at the set it looks like it might work out. I've tried BW Heavy and Tallum Heavy and Tallum is better than BW. It looks like NM light may be better than Tallum.

The metric I'm using weighs damage delivered (Patk * Attack Speed), damage taken (1/Pdef), and healing through VR for each armor set. The formula used is (Patk)*(Attack Speed)*(VR)*(Pdef). Basically this is damage recovered divided by damage taken. The goal for any polearm user is to recover more damage through VR than you take from the mobs. Below are some calculations. To simplify I normalized all the numbers so that BW Heavy would equal 1.

Here is what I use for the comparison (Prophet buffs and VR4 assumed, no armor enchants, Halberd with Haste, STR+4 tats):

BW Heavy
<ul type="square"> Patk 1166
Attack Speed 514
Pdef 639
VR 9%
Metric: 1.00

Tallum Heavy
<ul type="square"> Patk 1124
Attack Speed 566
Pdef 659
VR 9%
Metric: 1.09 -&gt; 9% better than BW Heavy

NM Light
<ul type="square"> Patk 1055
Attack Speed 529
Pdef 598
VR 12%
Metric: 1.16 -&gt; 16% better than BW and 6% better than Tallum

So it looks good, and on top of this NM Light offers a small Mdef boost and increased Evasion and run speed. So, what am I missing? For VR I was told that VR4 recovers 9% of damage delivered and that NM Light would add an additional 3% of damage delivered and that they would stack.
look at pdef.

if you havent at least got maxed mastery in light, better get some +4/5/6 NM light to make up the pdef loss.

look at pdef.

I did look at it. The VR boost (from 9% of damage inflicted returned to 12%) more than compensates for the Pdef loss. It could be that I am misinterpreting the VR effect on NM light.

not misinterpreted, you are correct.

and boss jewellery would really bost that to over 15% that would be the only way for me to trust it.
I think I will try to get some NM Light and try it out in Devotion. Hopefully I won't turn into goo on the floor.
make sure you dont pull any mobs that con over green lol
fact is you can pull more and survive easier wearing heavy
hmm...light for poling sounds dangerous :/
I have DC light+4 on my TH, and I have been poling a lot (assisting with pole) and if I happen to get hate, I die fast...VERY fast... but I guess with a lof of HP light armour could work, if its a ++++ one.
Guess it all comes down to how much health you have left after you get to your corner with the mobs :P I would AOE in the rift solo...the 40+ rift I could do it fine with plated leather and +5str-5con. I could take the damage. But when I was 50 and tried the 50+ rift...I couldnt take damage using the light set. Its one of those AOEs where if i were to miss a swing and the mobs all hit at once...plop :P
I will probably continue to collect and pull using Tallum Heavy and switch to NM Light when I'm in the corner. Also, keep in mind that I'm a Destroyer! I usually drop my HP down to 30% on the last mob of the prior pull then activate Guts and start a new pull. So, my Pdef is really gonna be quite high even with light armor. But, I still think that if you do the pull in heavy armor then get set up and switch to NM light that the VR boost more than makes up for the Pdef loss for any poling class. That is what I want to test. I will try to craft or buy the armor in the next week or two. If I get it I'll post the results. If it works good without using Rage, Guts, or Frenzy compared to Tallum Heavy then I would say the experiment is a success.
It'd be a toss up really, chances are that the +3% to VR won't make up for the extra dmg you will be taking due to the lower pdef and atk spd. Might work with small pulls, but if you pull a big group you will go down fast.
get pole with health.
an easier solution would be get some C weap with health SA, pull in the heavy w/ that weap equipped (as bio said) then by the time your in the corner that extra 25% is gone, so switch to your pole (IMO crit stun or wide blow are the most useful) and the NM light and go crazy
