Best Fighter(s)?

Greetings!

I just came back to the game after a few years and my buddy wants to come join me. Our eventual goal (like everyones) is to get to 75+ and have fun with PvP.

Unfortunately I don't know much about the game and what classes are good and which aren't. I know the big thing is "play what class interests you" and I fully believe that. However playing a class to 75 and realizing your class sucks isn't much of an interest :)

So which fighter classes are good in the high end part of the game?

Archers and Dagger-users right now. The changes to the melee system haven't gone live yet, so no one's certain if the "tank upgrade" makes a difference, or is, as in the past, an empty dream.

Not so much worried about the 'tank' (taking damage) portion of the game. You say daggers - which class utilizes a dagger the best?

Orc Monks, Tyrants, Blade dancers any good?

Edit: In short, If your only choice were to pick a melee class (he doesn't want to be an archer or caster) what would it be and why?

you should prolly go 1 tyrant and 1 destroyer
both really strong melee classes but the tyrant will be more expensive in groups
failing that just go 2 destroyers and you will be aoe gods
