Rolling a prophet on Treon. I'm planning to play lineage2 mainly due to PvP. I used to play a druid in daoc (mainly buff + heal) in DAOC and enjoyed the roll of a buffer/healer/rezzer in PvP.
Looking forward to castle sieges with a good clan, but I'm wondering. What will be my role in PvP ? (PvE is obvious enough) Is rezzing common in lineage2 ? Does healing help (Or has the game progressed to the point ppl get 2 shot in 1 second) ? Or will it be better if i were a damage dealer, etc ?
If you want a PVP support class try a Warcryer thats the mystic orc that buff a full party or try a bishop thats the best healer in game, also the Overloard on pvp is quit amazing if you are on a large ally/clan with that one you can buff and heal hp/cp to all the ally, those three are my favorite support classes for pvp/pve.
PS and Res is really important on Raids/Mass pvp and thats the Bisshot job to mass ress the clan/ally which is really amazing
A veteran buffer or healer can do great difference in pvp. Root, Wind Shackle, Trance, Mana Burn, Heal, Erase are just a few things that those classes can do. I have seen a prophet and a bishop disable 12 people and making them pray for a fast death. If you choose a class like that know that you wont be able to kill by yourshelf. At least not effectivly or in a non olympiad situation. But you will be a great facrot for the winning side. Rez is very common in L2 btw.
As prophet you will deal rather low damage, that is you won't kill many people youself. Mostly damage dealers will steal all your frags in mass pvp.
Main role for prophet is buffing. You will have a wide variety of essential buffs and will spend most mana on them. If you serve for more than 1 party (random buffing on sieges/mass pvp is a common practice) you will only have time to regen your mp (or even not enough time for it).
In middle size pvp you have some useful skills like Mana burn, Dryad Root, Erase.
Prophet heals are rather low and you won't be able to keep people alive if they are attacked by several enemies. But every bit helps and sooner or later you heals will be handy.
Support classes are not supposed to deal much damage in LA2. You can run from nearly every incident thanks to your return spell (instant teleportation to safe spot), but you probably will not kill anyone unless person runs out of supplies (CP potions your for drinks can counter your damage to nearly zero).
In PVP/sieges as a prophet you'll be kept so busy keeping buffs up that's all you'll be doing. Unless it's like... 2v1 pvp or something. As a healer, if you are mana burning/erasing/ etc you're not doing your job in pvp, which is healing, rezzing, and maybe trancing. Unless your enemy is afk or really, really bad, then you can waste time mana burning.
for pvp as a prophet, you really won't be wanted till you have proficy of fire (PoF) which you get at like 77 or 78.. and that'll take a while.
bishops...are always needed, mass res is awesome. healers make the difference in mass pvp
It sounds like Bishop might be a better support class to play.
But my problem comes in me playing odd hours and have to solo 30-40% of my time. How does a bishop solo ? Or can he even ? lol. I read guides tat its better to be in a lousy group then to solo as a bishop.
maybe i should play my second choice class (phantom summoner)
Yes, better to have a bad group than solo as a bishop. Trust me. But if you aren't war tagged up the wazoo it's still doable.
I am going to shoot this down... bad groups are negative XP for a bishop. Everyone else gets reses and you get a res scroll... (maybe a bres every once in a blue moon)
Bishop solo is very easily possible until 73 or so (when FotD dries up for undead nuking)
You will solo roughly as fast as a spellsinger (which is slow) and for the same reasons (downtime).
Even as slow as that is, it is still positive XP movement and should be quite safe.
Maybe its just because my server has some horrible groups..
(Stop running... yes yer squishy, but healers can't heal around corners! Stand yer ground and kill it please...)
If groups are negative exp for a bishop, then yes you have really, really horrible groups. Even the most gimpy groups I've ever had managed to not die and gain me exp, no lose it. Still preferable to soloing.
And the bishop would have to be some kind of idiot to accept a scroll rez....
Given that any group I join must be better than the XP rate I can get solo with the character I am playing at the time... yeah there are some pretty horrible groups out there.
Curious... you tell your groups brez or you are out of there or do you trust any person with the bresses you carry?
