Undecided -20 wizard with partner

Player Questions Started Last reply 15 posts
Have played this game on and off for a while now never getting past 50 with an indivdual character. I've started from scratch again with a partner and they are playing a human fighter while i'm a human mage both haven't gotten to the first class change quest yet.

I've played a Warlock before and enjoyed it, i have a level 17 Orc Mystic as well.

Question really is, what is actually enjoyable and practical? i want a buffer / healer of some description but my choices are as follows:

<ul type="square"> Create a cleric in the hope of going bishop / prophet to duo with my partner's fighter (are Bishop's / prophets worth it any more?)
Create the warlock like before and also level up the orc mystic when i get bored in the hope of going for a warcrier / overlord.
I do intend to stick with it this time so will be concerned about the 50+ levels.

I know at the end of the day i need to make my own mind up etc, but opinions from people who've experienced these choices etc would be appreciated.

EDIT: Sorry i should of said Buffer OR Healer rather than both
First off, I don't know about Warlocks. Every other buffer/healer has significant strengths and drawbacks. The Prophet and WC have good buffs, but can't do much the way of healing (WC because of mana issues). The SE can do some healing, and has some good buffs for a fighter, but not a complete set. EEs seem to have mostly defensive buffs, and good healing power. Bishops pretty much heal, maybe some crowd control. So the choice is not only about what you want, but what you are willling to give up on, when you're not in a larger party.
you also need to factor in what class the fighter will be.

out of interest as a fellow Brit, what server you on?
Thanks for the tips oldfart, it's helping me get a better picture.

Mizrim, i'm on Sieghardt with my gf, down in the sunny land of Essex ;-) she's completely brand new to this style of game and likes a character that can "bash stuff" (naturally there is some work needed there) so she'll probably lean to a Gladiator eventually or a DA...
i say go wccer
the cash you save on gsap you can spend on hp pots and you can fight right along side her

ahh Gustin here, but I'm in sunny Bristol.

Just a suggestion but if your Gf is new to this genre and wants a simpler toon to bash stuff perhaps she should try Destroyer? and if you went WC would make a very good combo...

may the sun remain shining in Essex ;)
Bristol sunny? what next you'll be telling me the cornish don't grow corn? ;)

Was on Gustin ages ago but migrated with a friend!

i like the idea but i think she's got her heart set on human, i did give her the choice (silly me) i'm sure she'll get bored of that one so maybe a destroyer isn't a bad idea :-)

Right now i'm remembering how fun the warlock is, so i'll probably be levelling that and the Orc Mystic while she levels her fighter, after reading through some of the threads on here i just can't bring myself to create a bishop / prophet

You a high level? the highest toon i've got is a stripped lvl 48 Gladi, if i can make some good money he won't be staying that way :)
thanks for the advice nameless1, should be good fun :)
warlock is fun, and then after lvl 40 it'll be like there are 3 of you in party instead of just 2. i'm on sieghardt also. drop me a line if you need some help. Aduit is my ingame name

lol thats funny 'cos I grew up in cornwall. no they don't grow corn silly, they grow pasties :D

making a nuker/melee is great for cata's but in open field hunting most things will be dead from your nukes before your gf gets to bash anything - just something to consider ;)

I have a 7x SH as my main. Also have a 52 SwS i don't play and a load of lvl 40 alts (most ex-academy) oh and a 4x perma-red :p
Ssxsin thanks for that, will look you up :-) and as she's leaning towards a DA there will be 4 :D ,

Mizrim, my bad, should of known better, i go to bakers oven and get one of those cornish pasties quite regulary ;-) you must love the clotted cream fudge as well then?

Sounds like you've got a fair bit of experience there then, i just really can't bring myself to be a healer as a main, it's just not in me lol gf doesn't like me getting ahead of her too much in levels so will probably level that orc mystic when she's out so will keep them a similar level and get to use them for buffs etc :-)
umm not much of a fudge man myself but can't beat a nice cream tea when I visit my folks down there!!

can see what your saying about not wanting to be a buffer, WC can hold their own at higher levels though. I just finished levelling a human wiz to 40 (academy toon) and she was quite fun (cruma swamp ftw!).

If things don't work out on Seig let me know, I'd be happy to start you off on Gustin again
lol i would make a joke about your first comment but don't want to get this thread locked!

Yeah cruma is great plus theres a sneaky hideaway near the ants nest where the ants mutate into bigger ones, gotten some great xp with a wizard there before.

Yeah wizards can be fun :-) and i'll probably keep that orc mystic as high as possible and just swap gear about so get the best of both worlds.

thanks for the offer re: Gustin will keep that in mind :-)
hehehe same could be said for cream tea - lets not go there!

spent last couple of levels on my HW one shotting the trees in EG

np with the offer. too few Brits play L2 so when I spot another I always take interest. gl with your toons!
cheers Mizrim, have fun :-)
