Hi, just thought i'd say hi. Bought the game yesterday and think it's awesome, a lot better than wow in my opinion. I have a quick question though, I found this on the website and was wondering if this music is found anywhere in game; http://eu.lineage2.com/ and press enter.
Also, is most of the music up to this standard? thanks!
go check out music under the downloads section of this site, also you can get to the files in your L2 folder, i believe they are all oog files. The file you're talkinb about used to be the login music. i know the hunter village and Aden musics are very simlilar. Myself i prefer the music in Dion.

The music in this game is awesome. There are some great tracks that really stand out. Also, a lot of it changes from Chronicle to Chronicle (often for the better, though I miss some tracks - notably some of the short pieces that used to play outside the Dark Elven Village; had a 'Twin Peaks' feel to it and was awesome).
I hope you have a great time with L2.
For the most part, this is a very nice board, so if you have questions I'm sure people will try to help you out. As time goes by, you'll meet nice people in game who will help you as well.
As you can probably tell, this game is bother similar to WoW (and vice versa) and also quite different. Its open pvp all the time, so you do need to be 'on your toes' for characters with their names in red letters. Those are characters who are PK's (player killers) who have gone 'chaotic' which means they've either recently killed another character that was not fighting back or that they've killed so many characters they've gone perma-red. Keep an eye out for them.
In-game money can be hard to come by at first, though NC Soft has made the newbie areas much more newbie-friendly, in terms of quest rewards and the ability to upgrade equipment at reasonable costs.
Once you've got your feet wet and you've got the basics down, look into the Manor System. Its a great way to make a lot of in-game money, even at low levels, totally legit.
thanks very much for all the advice and info :-) greatly appreciated! If i got bored of grinding alone (I'm level 11) whats the best way to find other people to group with? I often use !does anybody want to group for xp? but I dont even seem to get a reply!
The vast majority of the population is in higher areas. Depending on what race you are it might be near 20 before you meet folk. Most newb characters are rerolls or academy alts so they have top gear and level pretty quick.
Around lvl 20 head to dion, it has a pretty decent population and most will be near your level. When you get there ask in shout for a clan or just make some friends. You'll probably get invited to an academy, which is a special portion of the clan for lowbies. Having people in the academy benefits clans a lot so it shouldn't be too hard. That should get you far enough to have decent groups.
I've recently returned to L2 (from WoW which I played on-and-off the last year or so).
When I first came back I was playing as a dark elf on Lionna, which seems to be VERY empty until you get past level 20 and start hunting around Gludio/Dion. At that point you will start meeting players regularly.
This week I decided to roll a light elf (since I've decided to go Silver Ranger (the light elf archer) instead of Phantom Ranger (the dark elf archer). And, for the pure challenge of it (call me crazy) I started up on a brand new (for me) server: Hindemith. Hindemith seems to have a larger player population than Lionna, so even in the elf newbie town there are a quite a few players at all times, and I've been making friends in-game every time I play.
So, I guess that's a long way of saying: your experience will vary depending on the server you play in, but no matter what you WILL start meeting new people to play with once hit Gludio/Dion, if not sooner.
Keep trying, eventually you'll meet others to group with. At low levels, though, its usually best (exp-wise) to solo, but even so its nice to hunt in an area with someone else, even if you're not actually in a party together. That way you can watch each other's backs and chat while you grind.
i was pretty blown away by the sheer designs of this game. The armors and characters are beautiful. I was even at aw when i first ported to gludio...I just had to walk around and look at all the details that went into this game.....then I got pk >.>
I have a few other questions if its okay? I died and have some death penalty, how do i get rid of that? Also, I'm level 12 now and can't find any new skills, just the same ones at the start of the game. I have the windblast etc up to level 3, when should i expect new skills?
where are y9ou trying to learn skills? there should be a magister at the top of the stairs near the center of DEV to teach you skills. Most of yours will require spellbooks. pre 20 a mystic gets skills at lvl 7 and lvl 14

Also, this will show you when you get skills and what they are:
Try to get hooked up with a clan academy. That way you will get help by your clannies in clan chat and you don't have the feeling you are all alone. I think Clans are more then happy to provide you top NG equipment in exchange for the reputation points you will make for them. At least I know our clan will for any new player that starts the game.
Its hard to come by when you have to start out all on your own without any adena and/or gear.
My advise ask for a clan that wants to have you in their Academy asap.
I miss my newb days.. but my newb days were back near the end of beta when there were still TONS of ppl selling and everything in starter towns... oh man.. those days were fun
