I've heard the phantom summoner is the best, but some said necromancer. How about the ES ? I'm looking for a class that i will grind solo, with minimal downtime. Or will a melee class be better ?
Was debating between a necromancer or a warlock. (Already have a human mystic)
my personal view is good luck~
without a buffer you cannot really do too much soloing on any class...a necro doesn't need much rechargers, but they do need the whole empower, acumen buisness at least..a melee is out of the question without a buffer...
A summoner would be your best bet, but I still wouldn't exactly call that 'easy' level 80 requires you to make L2 your career no matter what class you chose--lawl
if you do have buffers, including VR, then maybe you want to look at destroyer, seems to be popular these days ~
Well, I dont recommend soloing from one to 80, if you enjoy solo rpg's you could get a better game and not have to pay $15 a month....but that is just my theory. I would also say that a summoner would be better(warlock since you have a mystic), but they will cost more because of crystals. The necro might have a little downtime due to MP consumption(even with B2m and pots, eventually it will happen).
Maybe an archer, with Cheap shot on bows and pots now you could probably always solo without buffs, but once again, you wont be getting to 80 for a while so I am Sov, play something you enjoy.

Yeah, I was thinking archer as well, but they are very expensive. Still, good soloers though.

Archers are ok. They do get crits fairly often, don't have any major mana issues if you add pots, and in my opinion, have the best combination of footspeed and attack power in the game.
The problem with archers? Weapon SA's are unimaginative; at A grade all of the bows are "Very Slow" attack speed (hold onto your BOP, until Interlude); don't bother with overenchants above +7 unless you're overenchanting purely for crit damage or glow, because it will still take you the same 3-4 shots to kill at +10 that it did at +7... unless you are a PR; and good grief, at B grade to low A grade, it seems like all of the good-drop field mobs are bow or dagger resistant. If not for Pavel Ruins, the Cemetary and Outlaws, I would have hated playing the HE.
With HP and MP herbs dropping at such good rates most solid melee or archer DD should be able to solo with no outside buffs and very little (or no) downtime. And don't forget that HP and MP elixirs are very cheap to make and are a great supplement to the herbs. GHP are also relatively cheap.
I suspect that a good melee or archer DD solo with no outside buffs will fare well in XP against necro and SH and do better than Sorc or SpS. I have heard that the best sustainable solo PvE with no outside buffs are the true summoners.
If you use the Acumen2 / Acumen3 potions, L2Day empower scrolls, and MP elixirs (which will be very expensive way to level) then I don't think any class (with no outside buffs) could beat the XP rate of the Dark Elf mystic (DE mystic -> wizard -> spellhowler -> storm screamer) as you will be able to solo all the way to at least 76 in this fashion.
I actually found beating things down as a melee theraputic...
lol, I know... that is why I went Destroyer as my sub.
Amen to that! After a long day at work, followed by cooking & cleaning at home, helping with homework, doing bills and what not there is nothing quite so therapeutic as, well, Destroying!
(Actually playing with the kids is better but can't do that till 1am)

If you believe all AG bows are very slow then you are or forgetting one particular bow, or forgot to check the weapons list.

Possibly. I thought Soul Bow and Carnage were both rated at "Very Slow," not counting the QR SA. I also heard the new bow is also rated at "Very Slow", but at least it gets Focus. Correct me if I'm wrong.
EDIT: Just found a website that shows Carnage Bow at "Slow." I stand corrected. However considering the SA's on that bow, can you blame me? :D :D
True solo = summoner all the way. All three are good at it, which one you like is pretty much a matter of style.
You might be hard pressed trying to solo on a WK though if you join a clan - most melee groups would probably want you there to buff*****, and that just ain't much fun.
Archer groups love them, Pole groups love them, single-target groups love them, everyone who uses melee just plain loves them...
Warlock is currently the #1 fastest (single box) way to 75 as the best groups in the game will trip over themselves to have you join... Did I mention your solo rocks too?
FYI, if you want to solo, just say so... no one holds a gun to your head to group.
as i mentioned earlier, i play at odd hours, and have to solo. trust me, if i have a clan or play at betters hours, i'm happy grouping. But i figured i most prob can only join a clan when i'm 60+, so i better pick a class tat i can survive till then.
Wat's the diff between a Necro and a Warlock ? Which is the summoner ?
warlock is great for soloing, you can spam beast ss, and not use any ss for yourself, so the cost will be down. at lvl 48 i was doing a full room of 8 in a catacomb, self buffed only, when my sub was a warlock... and when i had prof buffs, i did 2 rooms at a time, almost as fast as my current sub :p
i found on my main, soloing self buffed is fine. you just have to get the right mobs. i soloed from 1-61... with mainly self buffs
The shadow is probably the one summon who won't, thanks to the VR. Low servitor PDef and high servitor PAtk make it comparitively easy to tank one out with 15% extra VR. ;)
Its already been tested, but unforunately the posts about it are gone with the previous version of L2pets.
Anyway, 75 necro and 75 PS dueling unbuffed summons, Shadow won 3-0 unbuffed. Stats are similiar and shadow's passive VR is the clincher.
I dunno what lvl summon a 75 necro has, and this was back in C4 of course, but I dunno that either of them's summon has changed..mine hasn't :P
If I may stray slightly off-topic, what makes a Warlock so great that groups want to have them so much? I'm not challenging this, just curious. I know very little about summoner classes.
