PR Dagger or Bow?

Hi guys,
I've been reading on other forums that a dagger is the better option for a PR until lvl52... Is this true? I'll be using a Plated Leather Set but should I look at getting a Dark Screamer with Focus or an Emi with Cheap Shot?

It turned into a long thread, so for the quick read: the advice of the more experienced posters was to stick with dagger through 52.

My personal take is this (and I know it sounds cliché or even foolish): do what you want.

I 'agree' with all the advice I got, but the reality is I picked an archer class because I enjoy using a bow, which means I actually enjoy kiting. I recently started up a new character and I've been kiting since I bought my first short bow at level 5, and that's just the way I roll. I don't mind if I'm less efficient or less über or whatever, sub-52, because I play for one reason and one reason only (that matters, that is): to have fun.

A welcome and very mature reply. I'm torn between the lower cost of the dagger and the enjoyment of using the bow.

I'd keep a dagger either way, just for a change of pace. As someone mentioned in another post, there is something therapeutic about up-close and personal melee. And IMO, there is nothing more fun at C grade than this...

Yep, your right. I would have liked to get a bow and a dagger but I can manage one or the other at the moment. How much does the fact that you get no further dagger skills after 40 (as a PR) handicap you?

really depends wat you want, if you wanna use the bow it is going to go slower than using a dagger till 52 and costs quite a bit at 10 ss a shot, on ym archer went 40-52 in worshippers soloing an 8 spawn room at front till like 44ish and then at the back till 52 using a +10 dark screamer with focus and prophet/se buffs.

so if you wanna level fast and cheaper dagger is the way to go, but if you enjoy using the bow and dont mind the extra cost and time, go for it

I was fine with my Hawkeye using level 8 dagger masteries all the way to level 53...but I was using an overenchanted Dark Screamer and later a Kris. In fact, I didn't even like using a bow at first. Now of course, you can't separate me from the Bow of Peril.

A PR will have higher STR and DEX, plus they get Hex to debuff, which HE's don't have. I think you'd be ok either way, but as others have said, go with whatever floats your boat.

You will have more then enough time to play around with your bow, imo better to make some adena first with your dagger, then switch to a bow at 52.

I used a bow from lvl 4 till now...I know I should have used a dagger till 52 now.

this truely is the best way to go.

you will lose alot of money on SS lvling with a bow in your 40's.

I know I used a emi from 51-55, till a friend loaned me a +5 BoP.

but thats just the way it is. dagger is cheepest, and will keep you out lvling alot longer, specially with your low con.
