It's fine how it is. The places that drop herbs are solo spots. The rest of the areas are for parties. If you want to hunt in the tougher spots, get a party.

majority of the maps are what you called " for the parties " and dont tell me majority of our fellow players can getting a party by shouting " xx lvl xx class LFG ".
i've said it before and ill say it again, L2 was not designed or made for the north american market, Nor for the player population of the north american market, im pretty sure in korea the amount of Parties actively being formed are in much much much greater number than here.
I solo a lot. I mean a LOT. On characters ranging from 1 to 76. There is no shortage of places to hunt that drop herbs. It's not like these places are crowded...I seldom see another player when I'm soloing. So go pick one of the numerous herb-dropping areas and get your xp. If you want a harder area, get a party. Can't get a party? Join a clan. Make some friends.
I vote for a removal of Herbs. At last for the buffherbs.
Or make a option point if you want them or not.
Or fix them.
Right now, these pots are a pain sometimes, for example Ketra Orcs. I got 22 Buffslots, and somehow sometimes I cancel my buffs out. Why? Because Pots take some invisible slot away.

I mean...hundreds of spots are on the map and only a few are socalled " good spots " and the rest are just like they werent even exist.
Well, in my opinion, that has been the problem with L2 since day one. You can run for miles and not see a mob at all. Forget good spot or bad spot. Just vacant spots. Voids.
I often wished the developers would have designed every area outside of a town or village as a potential ambush spot. Mobs should just spawn, some aggro, some not aggro, to keep you on your toes. And it doesn't have to be location specific mobs, just random mobs more or less within the level range of a given area.
As for the pots, they should only drop in areas where the mobs are either greater resistant to multiple types of weapons/skills, or have increased HP and defenses relative to their level...or all of the above.
I don't feel that pots should drop in places like EG and VoS, where you can mow your way through many of those mobs without buffs anyway.
However, I think places like EV should drop pots, because the mobs are usually of the heartier breed.
And if it means that pots only drop in so-called "party only" areas, then so be it.
You ever seen paratrooper mobs? Those that spawn in the trees and social to each other. Aggro a mob below the tree and the rest drop down and gank you.
*shudders* I hate spiders!! Talking Island has to be the worst place for paratrooper mobs. When I first started playing L2 I went human mystic and my bf took me out killing spiders. Had the screen on fairly close up so I could watch those awesome graphics as she cast spell after spell, then...AGGGHHHH!! this large hairy THING covered my entire screen as it jumped from the tree tops. uggg. Needless to say my bf was dying of laughter.
The potions droping has made it easier on a low lvl char to solo until they get in the 30's.If i'm soling with a 60's toon in a place that drops herbs i'm careful as to which ones I pick up.People now a days are soooo spoiled! I kinda miss using haste one, heal pots and no buffs, but only a little:)As far as places where there are no mobs, I remember mobs being just outside Giran, but maybe they moved them since that caused lag,who knows.

I'm in favor of pretty much anything that makes PVE more fun.
In r/l the notion of predator and prey changes the minute that you enter an element that belongs solely to wildlife. Folks who spend a great deal of time in the ocean or camping in the wilds acknowledge this.
It should be the same way with L2.
The minute that you leave town or the safety of the road, you should be seen as potential prey for any random pack of mobs. You shouldn't be made to feel safe just because you're in an open field with not a mob anywhere in sight.
Of course this is all moot, because you can pretty much port to all of the better hunting grounds. Maybe an idea for the next event? All the GK's have been kidnapped for a weekend. You now have to run between villages and risk certain death. LOL.
I agree. EV is definitely a solo/duo spot. The only parties out there are usually the Unmentionables. I have spent a lot of time out there on my sub, and believe me, do I wish there were herbs. Have never understood why they aren't there.
The thing that baffles me are the areas where only some mobs drop herbs. In dragon valley, the gargoyles drop the herbs, while the other mobs by them do not. So is that a sorta-solo area? No, I think its just where the devs goofed up.
It'd be nice if the cemetary was deemed a solo area because, this might be surprising, most people I see there are soloing. There are some areas it just seems like the devs missed.

As I said, most probably they did it intentionally, to discourage soloing on undeads by healers. Did it bring more healers into parties is another question :p
LOL, you don't have to do much to discourage healers from soloing. But if there is that rare spot where they can, why in God's name would you discourage them from doing it for?
And as far as EV is concerned, try running thru there and try to spot a live-player group. I rarely see other than soloers or duoers there.

Before 2boxing became so popular we did exactly that and most ppl leveled quite quick.
I think it's mostly fine now. There are a few places where the mobs are 1X and not in groups, but yet herbs don't drop. Forbidden Gateway and parts of DC come to mind, and I would like to see herbs start dropping there. As pointed out in another thread in one of the other forums, another poster came up with the idea that NC should consider going back and upgrading some of the group areas to make them more desirable. That would be better than taking away solo areas.
I think we just expected to level slow, I remember in C1 being in a Cruma party of close to 9, and taking like 4-6 hours to make 40% at 39. And that was a-ok exp.
And Hot Springs is a solo area because it drops herbs? yeah right, people shouldn't smoke them, that could help :)
Personnally I don't like solo. When I want solo, I have Oblivion. Lots of fun there and there's no People of the Darkness farming in dungeons ;)
I wonder if L2 needs more players on each server to be effective. I'm on Teon (Heavy server) and I rarely get a party from a shout. And nobody uses Party Matching system except for shop advertising. Is it because NA/EU players are egocentric idiots or is it because servers are "empty" in comparison to what it should be?
I think there would be place for a lot more parties even if the best spots are often all taken. That would also explain the drop rates : if there's always someone hunting every mob, there's a permanent supply for whatever you need. Hunting crappy mobs by yourself to get a spellbook because nobody hunts there is frustrating. And when you're a support class, you must annoy a friend for a night because you need heeeelp geeeettiiiing a speeeeellboooook *whine whine*
Am I writing stupid things or does it make sense to you too?

On Hinde i solo'd there alot, but i often saw groups of 3-4 sometimes 5 people in C grade running through and they were doing quite well and they all said the xp was good.

i think ego has a lot to do with it. rather than depending on someone else to heal them, people would rather depend on themselves to be the tank, buffer, healer, and damage. they set up perfect parties before they start playing the game and then purchase X accounts, for exactly what they need. playing in less than perfect parties with other live players in fun for me but i dont expect everyone to have the sam definition of fun.
Partying outside my clan/alliance has almost always been a dissapointment. Most players end up not sticking around for long. In particular, if it takes a few minutes to experiment and see how to make 2 classes work together, and on which mobs, so many other players just don't have the patience for it, in my experience.
Edit: Most of these experiences took place in my 20s and low 30s. But, that kinda set the expectation of what future out-of-clan parties would be like.
