any legit players looking for party around 52-58? im getting really annoyed here, i can say LFG all day and no one can be arsed to inviteme. im currently in game looking for a party.
Currently at the Monster track. Im (points at signature) the names facelessRed PM me please, really.
Yep, I have the Highest Pdef, High Attack power, Debuffs out the wazoo, Automatic poisons And i can refill my hp while still flowing monster to monster.... yea.... no one wants an SK.. SK is just as good a tank as all the other classes, Less HP sure, but that doesn't mean more heals. So IMO...
i have 180 more Pdef than my lvl 58 paladin friend IN full doom w hile im in doom plate and boots and using FP gloves and helm. MY HP is fine, i dont know what kinda SK's u play with but you guys know some Crap SK's
Id like to See a TK or a Paladin Tank faster, a nd more efficiently than I can in any dungeon, A raid Maybe yea, but EXPING.. Never
I may be biased, but I really think the Dark Avenger is the best tank in game, pretty well rounded and can tank RB no problem.
Dark Elves inherently have lower HP. I think SKs are the best PvP tank though, and they have some pretty awesome skills. I also think they are the easiest tank to level. But to tank a RB, I would never pick an SK as a primary tank, secondary sure, but primary, no...if I had another choice anyway.
In the end though, I guess it just comes down to if you know how to play your class. A SK could be better than a DA if the SK knew what he was doing, and the DA had no idea. I am lucky to have a DA friend that knows what he is doing though. :p But comparing stats back to back, the SK is definitely the worst Raid Boss tanker in the game. Not the worst tank in game though. I think the best tank class in game is a toss up between the DA and the SK, both have different purposes though. I would take a DA to a Raid, and I would take a SK to grind.
Does your friend have different tatts than you and do you carry a HP weapon enhancement? A human has more HP than a DE...so there is something else in the setup that is changing it. My best bet is your friend may have gone -CON in order to level up easier. Or he doesn't have a CON tat and you do.
LOL its all semantics. All tanks have the necessary pre-reqs to do their job...
The "limitations" of the lower HP tanks are easily offset by using Health SA wps, and HP adding equipment such as Doom Heavy which is still arguably one of the best all round tanking sets. Keeping up raid tanks is not just an issue of healing, its an issue of the whole raid approach to PvE.
There is no perfect formula you need to adapt the strategy to your clan's order of battle !
The REAL issue is that most clans don't have the real players to suitable class ratio.
The DPS tunnel vision which has engulfed L2 as a direct result of open PvP and the fierce competition for named raidboss loot has stunted not only the flow of information surrounding such raid encounters, but also the overall "strategic" approach of PvE raiding in L2.
The facts IS that any of the tanks can do the job equally well, the difference lies in what is available to support the tank.
This, is subseqently the issue with tanking in L2 in general, reading through the forums it would appear that raid tanking is poorly understood overall, and that the prevailing understanding out there seems to be that the tank is a self sufficient unit which only needs to be buffed in order to do its job.
That folks is NOT the case.
Whilst you may revel in the semantics of whether one tank is good for this or that, ultimately it matters not, because the tank is NOT the DD and it is their armour masteries, unique defensive skills and level of hate aura or aggression skill which will determine how efficient they are at doing their job. And if you haven't allready guessed those skills caps are identical for all tanks. All that remains is for the raid to adjust its understanding of the PvE and measure out its healing and DPS appropriately to the individual differences, mainly skill and equipment, of their tanking line up.
You know, you are so right? Gosh, you sure are smart.
The fact is there's no reason to have a PvE tank (Excluding certain raid bosses) and they're useless in PvP outside of the olympiad. The Kain server favors kite style PvP; there's no room for tanks here, friend. Maybe I'm just old fashioned. ^__^
Which brings me back to my original point - you may just want to make an archer. =] If you don't want to be FotM or you have some bias against archers or whatever that's fine by me, but I'm just being honest when I say roll a DD or learn to enjoy your lonely gimp lifestyle, you know?
This is all from an endgame point of view, however. I'm assuming the biggest obstacle you're facing as far as finding parties goes lies more in the lack of players around your level, as opposed to your class, to be honest. Your best bet is to just keep your head down and grind until you catch up, imo. (If you absolutely must play a tank)
I hate archers, IMO Kiters are ******s.. and also in the END game as a tank.. Kiting doesnt work x_x i just root kiters, archers are extremly shafted (Especially in interlude) .. yep.. archers in interlude get owned by pretty much everyone now.. ah.. never too late to make a fighter class :)
My main point in making return remarks such as stating how crap i think other classes are is to basically just to get u all to and stop talking about my Up and downsides and Just get a group together to hunt, christ! cant you kainers stop whining and just have fun for once -_- just get some people close together and work through your CLASS differences, were all human beings behind the screen you know.
You know, Faceless, you should definitely keep playing your tank class. I have a friend that plays a tank, DA, and he loves it. Some people even tell him to reroll because he has a hard time leveling. It is true, open pvp tanks really aren't the greatest. Olympiad and inside a castle though they are great...you can't kite in a small room, and like you said before you can't kite if your 'rooted.'

What you don't seem to understand is every tank can get these HP enhancements, so a tank that inherently has more HP will always have more HP and thus will be easier to raid with because they can take more damage and benefit more from a % heal.
Also what Xike says is also true. I have seen many successful raids with something like an SR tanking by the use of kiting a RB, I have also seen Raids get rooted and just fired upon with ranged attackers.
The point is that if you like playing your tank you should definitely do it. Something you have to realize though is that nukers really don't need you because they kill fast before the mob gets to them, and if they don't they are hunting in the wrong place. Archers don't need you because they usually do the same and/or kite mobs. Destroyer and Gladiator type classes can tank their own mobs measured against their DPS. So it will be difficult for you to find a party where you don't end up using more resources than contributing to a group. Have you ever tried a tank duo? I can talk to my DA buddy, he is level 68 though, but you guys could try that out and I am sure he would love to party with a fellow tank.
Hehe, see, there's a key difference between you and I. While you speculate about end game - I play it. You've got to understand just about any and every fight you're in will be one of which you and your opponent are fully buffed. More often than that it will be group PvP. (read: sieges)
I've got to be honest, I don't foresee very many tank parties rolling over siege fields in interlude lol. I'm sorry for laughing, but I respect your spirit. I wish you the best of luck with your tank and I hope your resolve holds up in the face of the truth when you arrive to it.
You'll see in time, I'm sure. And hey, there's always subclassing. =]
I marvel at your ignorance. why do you assume i dont know the end game? and also why do i care if nukers dont need me? what does that have to do with the fact i am LFG ? what are you all ranting for? are you really listening to yourself? seriously, i dont need to hear what classes need me or not.
thats obvious, but who's to say how and when if ever I've played characters over level 75? its not that hard to play on PTS, Or play @ friends houses with characters level 75-80 on a regular basis, I know the end game FAIRLY WELL, not as wonderful as someone who owns an account with a char level 75-80 but i know it none the less, and because ive tried my class, and a few others at which level for several weeks, not just a FEW DAYS, i am fairly familiar with my pro's and Cons, and also i am pretty confident in saying that most of you don't know much about SK's. as how you probably have never played one. (by using the same method of assumption you have all used for me).

Tk is by far the fastest =p I use a bow crit or 2 to get more aggro than 2 AOE hates and the mobs stick to me like glue ^^ and when the last mob has 1 sliver of HP left I already have the next mob RD to be spanked ^^
Because they level fast? And I assume you what to level sometime in the near future...
Actually almost all classes that level fast don't need you. Sorry. :(
Thats why I suggested a duo with another tank, especially one that uses dark attacks also, if you see what I am getting at?
You don't have to get so defensive at people telling you the truth...thats how L2 works, especially kain...so get used to it.
Your looking for a party? You already know you are having a problem. People are trying to make you realize this. I say play what you want, but be prepared for not finding many groups. Want to get lots of groups, become a raid pro. There are many smaller clans with characters around your level that don't have enough man power to take out a raid, seek these clans out, unite them and do raids.
Also, being a tank you are going to have to play your attitude different. People simply won't party you because you can help them exp because tanks don't really help ppl exp in normal situations, you will find many will party you because they like you...so the more well known and liked you become, the more parties you will get.

It's okay, friend. See, that's one of the many things that makes competitive video games so harmless - it doesn't matter whether you're good or bad, at the end of the day it's just a game, right? Win or lose is of little consequence.
And I'm sure you enjoy the game just as much as someone who knows what they're doing. That's the only thing truly worth marveling in this thread, to be honest. Although, I'm sure my ignorance comes in a close second. ^^

I believe you have missed my point. The issue of %heals is irrelevant in the debate about tanking proficiency. The point I am making is that "skillwise" all tanks are equal.
Efficiency is extremely subjective but ultimately hinges around the "support" available to the tank.
In your particular experience the "most expedient" tank becomes the DA because thats whats worked for you. TK's and SK's have worked extremely well for our alliance because thats what we had available.
My honest belief is that its a matter of pointless semantics when it comes to deliberating on which tank is better for raids. The reason it doesn't matter is that during the raid the tank has the whole of clan effort behind them.
Efficiency during group PvP and similar PvE encounters is another matter entirely and is again highly situational. Arguably it is here that the individual differences between the tanks will come out thus proliferating the pages of debate that abound amongst the forums as to which is the better tank.
If you can find enough people that want to try the Ice Fairy Sirra. I have the silver hemocyte needed to get in several times.
Where do i get this silver hemocyte, and how many people would it take. i might be able to get a few up front fairly quickly, but its still difficult as most people only deal within their own clan, or group of friends.

This is quite true, it certainly helps to know ppl in game and be friendly ^^. Try duoing with other
melee/support classes as any xp is better then none in my book ;) Have duo-ed a lot on my SwS
with a friend who played a SK all the way to 77 so yeah it's possible!!
In a week or so I'll be around 55 on my 3rd sub and have no problems grouping you then even if it
is an archer I play atm, focus dagger ftw :P and once you are 72~74+ you can come along to some
of the spots we visited on PTS

Hi draecke ^_^, i get parties alot.. i just want bigger parties, but right now im ****** that some stupid NPC turned into a raid boss just cause i spoke to it and it killed my, i was about to level and it killed me !!!! huaaargh WHY ISNT THEIR A WARNING ON IT! WHY DOESNT IT (THIS WILL CAUSE RAID BOSS TO SPAWN AND AGGRO YOU) OR SOMETHING.
I have gaurd stance and shield block passive succes rate as well?? err i get the same skills as u - the heal pretty much
so.. maybe you should make a different argument?
Gaurd stance
passve shield block skills
also an ACTIVE(toggle) shield block rate at 64 (as do you)
and also an Active(toggle) resist stun and other stuff at 77 (as do you). so really.. whats your argument again? haha... -_-
P.S. even tho this is a pretty argumentative thread, this is quickly becoming the most active thread in the kain forum lol its funny how fast we are to argue pointlessly than to just say Hey lets go have fun and kill stuff. maybe we can turn this thread around at some point.
I'm a lvl 59 SK and yea its darn hard getting a grp. For one an SK makes a better backup tank than a primary i agree, With the right party and buffs an SK can really deliver damage in my opinion. Solo and SK does okay with greater pots and shots and it costs me a mint to grind solo too. I used to be a hardcore player and I now play casual or when I have free time to waste so that hurts me and ends with me being kicked from clans so I don't bother with them. Plus I work the night shift when most of the people are online playing in parties so that is another force against me. I have to say that an SK isn't hard to play or level, but most players don't really care for an SK or need one in the party unfortunately. I love my SK,shes easy to play and I know how to play her to get the best results in my opinion. maybe there should be a clan for the unwanted SKs LOL then we can all go out in a party hahaa. anyhoo my names Periwinkle on the kain server, shoot me a pm or a in game email :)
lol i love my sk strong take alot to amek him die i love to run into a room of 8-10 memmber with my pp friend and rock ever one of them and could going sk are good pvp to when u know how to do it i love sk SK FOR LIFE ^_^ im always in partys for gruop mostly raids boss cuz im good at keeping aggro and i dont take to much damge since well im a TANKER ^_^
I hear it alot, "No one parties with tanks/dwarves/etc." or "No nuker wants to party with a tank." I must be one of the rare exceptions then.
I personally prefer group PvE over a solo grind or boxing a healer. And maybe it's not the most effective or fastest way to get xp, but I enjoy partying my nuker with a dwarf friend or tank, and I like to team my dagger with another's summoner. So maybe some other team of nukers/archers with a buffer can out xp us over the same amount of time, but so what? Although xp is important, it's not everything to me at least.
Oh yeah what was the original point of this thread? Oh LFG! ^^ Pm me where do you usually hang out or grind. Our group would welcome a tank, as long as you don't nap on us. (We once partied with a TK that would literally fall asleep at the keyboard.)
