OK, I rarely play my BH but I need some key mats that have the best spoil rate out at Beast Farm. However, I have never even killed a mob there let alone spoiled so would someone be so kind as to give me any info that they may feel is useful.
From the looks of it the mobs have lots of different spoil tables. I read something about "levelling" mobs by feeding them spice. Is this an easy process? Are the drop tables relevant to the "level" of the mob? If so, how do I know what level I need to get it to for a particular spoil or is it just a case of trial and error?
Are the spoil tables unique for each level of monster? If they are, I could see what I spoil and just cross-reference it with a well known L2 info site.
Anyway, so many questions so I'll say "thanks in advance" for any info you may give.
The well known L 2 site gives you all the tables you want to know about BF.
Practically you have to buy food at an NPC (there are some of them located all over BF)...target a mob, feed, feed, feed, till it grows larger (should only take about 3-4 times), mob will start hitting you, and they can hurt a little so be careful.
Once you get it to your wanted lvl, make fireworks and start smashing.
I think you also have to feed them the right spice. I have read that one spice makes the mobs drop adena, the other makes them drop items. (I don't know which is which; the dwarves in my group take care of the spices/spoiling, and I watch their back and help kill the mobs they are spoiling from.)

Yeah, there must be a secret combination of spice that only top dwarves know. ;)
I tried both yesterday and I didn't get a consistent type of mob (physical or magic). Don't get me wrong, I got some decent spoils (and some crap ones). I guess a little more time and effort will allow me to consistently get the type and level of mob that I'm after but, as yet, I am completely bamboozled. :D
And I need to take a DD with me coz it's pretty slow without one.
Beast Farm spoils can be kinda nuts.... the possible mob combinations .. wow.
Here are the factors for determining what spoil/drop for a mob are
Level of the mob (how many times did you successfully feed it)
What type of spice did you feed it (golden or crystal)
Is the mob a nuker or a fighter after you fed it (they are all fighters at 1/2x, feed em once and they either start nuking or start pounding on you)
basically, for example, a buffalo has 4 possible levels, 2 possible mob types, and 2 possible food types... what's that 16 possible tables for a single mob?
A dwarf in my clan has em nailed down pretty good which mob of what type and level and what spice for the desired spoil.
a clan mate was trying that and yes, his success rate sucked, thats why i asked.
the problem is that i couldnt imagine telling him to delvl some lvls, you know how difficult is to lvl up a dwarf
I've been doing some spoiling and keeping some records.
So basically, there seems to be two spoil lists (i.e. two different mobs) that you can get at a particular HP multiplier, type and spice.
For example, feed a Mage Kookaburra with Golden Spice until it hit's x2 HP and you could be in for 6 different spoils, 3 from each mob. Same at x1 HP but food type doesn't make a difference once the mob hits x4, where there is only a separate spoil list for mage/melee.
Does that sound about right to those "in the know".
Also, is there any way to govern which of the two mobs you get for any given HP factor, type and food. Or is this part purely a matter of chance?
Mage or fighter seems to be pure chance. At 4x, it still matters which type of spice you feed, although they 4x mobs seem to have more spoils in common, the rare ones are different (if i remember right, i quit working the beast farm after we spoiled our helm recipes we needed for our clan). If you've been keeping track of what mob level/type/spice type spoils what, the rest is pretty easy. You have the mechanics down, now just go to a site with drop/spoil tables to see what spoil table you have most closely matches what you need from the sites drop tables to determin which of the 16 different possible buffalos (etc) actually spoils what you need.
