I was thinking about starting this quest, but first i need to know few things about it...
Im a lvl 47 destroyer, with clean berserkers and npc's shop d armors/jewelry :cries: . Should i go there now or wait untill i get myself composite or FP armor? And what about the elven jewelry, is it possible to farm there with it?
Also, do quest items drop often?
Thanks in advance, btw feel free to brag about the rewards you have got from this quest
:D
I haven't done it myself to give you the walkthrough, but I can give you a little tip. The mobs you need to kill are golems. All golems that I know of, are vulnerable to blunt weapons. So, it might be a good idea to find blacksmith mammon and trade your berserker blade for a Dwarven hammer (2h blunt), at least for as long as you do the quest.
As to, if you can do them on your own: Take the quest, go there and try a few mobs. I think you can decide there on your own. If it's too hard, go on a later level.
rewards from this quest are low b grade 60% weapon recipies. u need 500 quest items and they drop fairly rarely. not anywhere near as rare as say, the items from the giants cave quest, maybe on par with reagent pouches. the mobs there are weak to blunts. only good thing really is that you can do this quest at any level, evern when the mobs are darkdark blue you will still get quest items.
I did this quest 4-5 times on my sub. The drop rate isn't that bad. You'll get a quest drop every 2-3 mobs if you're the only person in the party with the quest. It does take a while though to get all 500 drops. All the mobs there are weak to melee. It can be easy to get into trouble, as some of the mobs are agro, and they're all social with each other. I don't know how feasible it would be to hunt there in D-grade, unless you have a full-time healer with you.
Most of the recipes I got as rewards I still have, as nobody wants them (Spell Breaker and Sprite Staff, for example).
You'll get mowed down in short with the equipment you have.
Even in top C grade (+4 FP main, +3 FP accessories) they still hit a BD for around 200-400 on specials and 60-140ish on regular hits.
You can guess what that'll be in D grade armor. Jewelry dosent matter much.
You could try the lower level golems (The N most pocket in Pavel Ruins) but even they'd own you I bet.
Also, they arent just blunt weak, they are also melee weapon weak which is a added bonus. I dont think you'll have any problems hurting them, but I doubt you'd survive without some sort of healer.
These mobs are great to pole, all agro, lots of corners. Did this quest a few times on dorf sub, from 40+, got about 10-15 recs left i think. Items drop often, herbs drop a lot, but they do hit hard. also be warned, if u die there and then go back to the spot, they remember you, have had golems charging up from the pits towards the port in spot before to come get me:-)
Is a nice quest though, esp when you get kris or kesh recs, well worth the time, and xp is pretty good there also.
In my experience, the damage of other weapons outweighs the damage of a blunt, even on blunt-weak weapons. Not that I've tried it on every blunt-weak mobs. It tool like 2 kills on the skeletons at the fron of DV to convince me to just leave blunts behind. However, you will need better armor. Then get an SE to go with you, should do fine. This is a great XP place for a Destroyer - I went to the Golems pits with my Destroyer at ~ lvl 46. Like the Cats, this place will keep you busy and on your toes.
Well, I started the quest at level 48. I finished getting all of the quest items right before 51. It was a very nice spot, IMO. Herbs drop often, monster are quick kills, and very dense. Works best with VR.
As someone else mentioned, the mobs hit hard sometimes. I had, and still have, Composite Armor, the mobs would hit me for about 70+ damage and if they used a special on me, upwards of 150 damage. Greater Healing Potions are very useful for when you accidentally over pull. UD saved my *** several times, but you won't have that luxury as a Destroyer, instead you'll get Guts/Frenzy.
Horrifying Cannon Golem I and Horrifying Cannon Golem IV can, and will, stun you. As a BD I was stunned fairly often. Hopefully as a Destroyer, with your high CON, you won't be stunned as much.
Have fun in Pavel Ruins. IMHO, it is one of the best XP spots from 47 to 50, maybe all the way to B-grade if you go deeper, but I got tired of the place and went to Apostate.
