wow the actual olympiad system is controled by some strong class, what about the another class? they need to go kiss the summoners , glads, prophets and doomcryers? the actual system = transfer points, and so little real fights, change it please
they just need to get the pvp triangle working properly
for those that dont know the powerful classes are gladiator, prophet, overlord and to a lesser extent summoners
ok so summoners are meant to die to healers and afaik that happens often enough to balance them out
overlords should die to healers as well but im not sure if that is the case
prophets should die to warriors but apart from a lucky crit from glads that doesnt happen often enough
glads being a warrior class should die to mages, archers and daggers but that basically never happens
so you can see the problem pretty easily
prophets and glads are simply not balanced, interlude might be fixing the problem with prophets slightly but with the way mana burns i cant really be sure
and once again glads will be annihilating any class that doesnt have 1k+ pdef and mana burn (actually alot worse than C5)
i think they moved OL from the "offensive mage" into the "defensive mage". that means they should kill nukers and dwarves should kill overlords. o yea and dwarves should be killing prophets and be an even fight against gladiator...but gladiator is the one getting boosted.
The arena now is too small to kite anyone (bye bye archers main strength) and i think its utterly stupid that you can run up to your enemy before combat starts yet again nuliffing our only advantage.
Archers are suppose to kill Warrior classes in the triangle.... how come if i dont land lethal strike a glad or tryant win 99% of the time?
if your a glady and u cant beat a prophet u have a problem called you suck.
Warlocks/Necros/DA/Gladys/paladins/othersummoner class
are the best by far, overlords run out of mp way too fast lol and same with WC, if played right they can win quite a bit but still not too great.
The only classes who have NO chance are really the mages and obviously some healers
not sure if you have competed before but i hear glad is about 50/50 to beat a properly set up prophet
while necros might own in real pvp they are still pretty **** beatable by prophets in olympiad and glads should do a good job of killing them as well
summoners own alot of classes but like i said healers beat them fairly regularly thx to erase so they are kinda balanced

im not sure if they moved OL into the defensive mage position because NC is doing a **** good job of hiding that pvp triangle from open sight
to be fair dwarves got the same boost in interlude that gladiators got so it does give us a slight edge vs prophets
the main imbalance lies in the way of the burst damage that glads are capable of and the fact all warrior classes in interlude will be doing their damage via skills which cost mp (yes even dwarves)
the problem in interlude of warriors beating prophets will still remain that mana burn is just way too effective
in interlude i get a skill that will regen 1k cp every 10 seconds, sounds good in theory but when i am 30 seconds into a match and dont even have the mp to activate ripose stance you can guess how effective that skill is going to be
ive watched a few destro and tyrant vs prophet matches and was horrified when i heard they didnt have the mp left to activate frenzy/guts/rage/totems when they wanted to

talking about olympiad and not arena right?
olympiad is plenty big enough for kiteing and while the melee can run up to you before the match starts you also have the option of running away
gladiators beat you because.... well they beat friggn everyone
tyrants beat you because they run really fast and stun and have ranged skills, not much you can do about the running thing but the stun problem seems pretty easily fixed
i think in pts, a doomcryer lv 78 with 5 boss jewls and lv 79 will be the olympiad god, summoners lv 79 with +9 pets and some boss jewls will rock too, and gladiators lv 79 with 5 boss jewls will be very good too
mages , archers, and healers can have 5 boss jewls , lv 80 and +6 sets that they will be weak class for olympiad, and the stronger class will decide whoever will be hero, change the olympiad fight system, not the each class skills
The olympiad would be more balance if some skills/spells were disabled from being used in the game. But then what would be the point of getting skills if they can't be used.
At a glance, the Olympiad system appears to be a bunch of 1v1 fights, where the best players win and get to become hero for a month.
I disagree entirely with that outlook.
L2 is a clan/alliance based game. Every aspect of it is meant to be clan centric. There are many walls, and many things you cannot do in L2 without a strong clan behind you, or at the very least working with you.
I believe the Dev's built the olympiad with this in mind. It does not make sense to put an individual based competition in at the end game of a clan based game.
What does this mean? It means the Developers new that fielding Olympiad competitors would be a clan effort. It means that they expected politics to heavily affect the outcome of the olympiad. It means that they knew points would be transferred, and that it would be played exactly as it is being played.
The other part of this equation is the olympiad being broken because of it's ruleset and the way the classes are balanced against each other. I agree that this part isn't quite right. It needs quite a bit more polish, even considering the supposed PvP triangle, and the fact that the outcomes do not generally follow the "triangle".
I agree that the way you win the olympiad is just based on what overenchanted armor/weapon you have + boss jewels and such. Someone made a post about having "olympiad armor" which sounds sweet and more fair, which would bring balance to the olympiad.
1. Change Olympiad so that you can not have a match against any clan/ally member. That should put a kink in some of the point feeding that goes on.
2. Change boss jewels so that you can only wear 2 at any time unless you are wearing boss necklace. If you are wearing boss necklace you can't wear any other boss jewels. That should help level the field a bit in the jewelry department. This change not just for Olympiad, but game wide.
the outcome of oly is how many noblese does eaach clan have... get all the points on your clans side then transfer them... seems fair enuff to me the strongest ally gains the most points and then can do wat they like w/ them
by strongest ally i mean
1)most noble/ highest lvl
2)most boss jewls/ best gear
3) best ability to work togather... even if it means you may be giving up your points and takin 1 for the team
pvp balance needs to be looked into but it wont effect the outcome of the oly very much if a strong ally is working as a team while everyone else is fighting eachother
The olympiad now is pretty representative of what it should be except that the rock-paper-scissor system needs a bit more fine turing.
It makes sense that equipment and boss jewels play a big role. Unfortunately, the equipment boosts certain classes much more than other classes, and I think that's unfortunate.
Otherwise, it's a pretty good system. Clan politics plays a large role but there's room for very accomplished individuals to force open a spot for themselves if they put enough effort into competing.

Your statement is true up until the last sentence, and I think that's what most people are complaining about.
You can only force your way in and actually take hero for yourself, without the support of any clan/alliance, if you are 1 of about 3 different classes. Honestly, you won't even be able to do that if the people you are competing against are smart and organized about transferring their points to the right people.
1. Olympiad is controlled by the major clans
2. Anyone trying to go against them gets wared
3. They all have full epic set that is not obtainable by smaller clans
4. I don't care about the olympiad because I will never be allowed to compete by the 2 clans that currently controls it.

haha
thats actually a pretty good suggestion. but i think it shouldnt be gamewide, but only in olympiad.

This wouldnt slow them down at all. What do you do when you hit 80? You PVP and bring up untagged toons.
And because they somehow are able to grind 50X faster then everyone else, they hit noblesse AGAIN before we do.
Not being able to fight clannies would slow down the largest clans by 1 month, tops. And only if they had no warning that the change was coming.
Why is everyone referring to boss jewelry as "epics"
wow this is not wow!!!
/offtopic @_@
Because the come from "Epic" raid bosses, and not the regular Raid bosses.
No one called Antharas an "epic" boss in C1 lol.
Can't they just be "major" bosses like they always were?
I've even seen some people call Wyverns "epic mounts".
No, there are classes who can beat me, but its not glady if I have good equip (ofc if he is not lucky with too many skill crits or something like that)
Actualy ES/Warlock are harder than glady, cuz both have recharge summon.
So kain prophets are bad equipped or suck.
to your Edit.
We are talking about oly, arent we? So why do you pull something about open pvp count of prophet who is not supposed to kill things in pvp.
Your got a 75 TH sub, and u only had 37 pvps thats quite sad, not to mention a PP with a drac bow can still do quite a bit of damage in pvp, thats if u pvp lol
A glady with full IC set and some good duals +7 s grade shouldnt have much trouble with a PP as long as they play it right.
You were acting like prophets were the gods of the olympiad, when they simply are not, they can be beaten by quite a few classes
Yes I have 75TH sub which I lvled just to be nobless.
No, I dont shoot with bow in pvp, I buff/rez/rebuff/root/debuff/heal w/e.
And no, i dont pvp as much as others and? Open pvp has nothing to do with oly, there is no similarity.
Prophet with full ICset will have 1600+ pdef. He can manaburn you easily and then, you can just run around or spam sonic rage which is easily outhealable.
I said many classes can beat prophet (wc, tanks, daggers, SR, tyrant etc), but glady cant its very very small chance that equaly equipped glady would kill prophet.
Yes, crit TSS does like 1600dmg, i have 1800CP 6+k hp... I have 3+k mp for heals and i battleheal myself for almost 500hp with decent casting speed. How many TSS' have to crit in row to outdmg my heals? Especialy when glady is blockwindwalked and running out of mp fast.
No, in C5, glady cant beat prophet. In Interlude it might be more intersting.

There are a lot of classes that can do it. Warcrier, Prophet, Bishop, Overlord, Any tank class, Any summoner class, Necromancer, Gladiator, Titan.
Not just anyone can do it, but if you're a player who has made enough money to buy all of the top flight equipment (S-grade armor set, S-grade weapon(s), boss jewelry), you certianly can do it. Even "bad" Olympiad classes like SE could do it, if they could find enough unaffiliated nobles and had the people skills to pull it off.
Remember, the honor in question is "HERO" status. It really shouldn't just go to anyone who has killed X number of mobs. It should go to players who have some kind of impact on the server. And on most servers, that is reflected by either clan membership or a large number of friendships after 2-3 years of playing.
