You can make an even exchange of weapons with the same crystal value at the Blacksmith of mammon.

Perhaps, but do the enchantments carry over as well? I've never used the blacksmith.

If you do an even weapon exchange you keep the enchants, so you could turn in a +7 Elven Longsword to get a +7 Glaive.
You only lose enchantments if you upgrade your weapons. So if you upgrade a +7 Elven Longsword (top D) you would get a +0 Stormbringer (low C).
The Blacksmith has a very good exchange window. You get to see exactly what you get before you click the 'OK'.

Found him in the catacomb and you're right, his interface is very good.
Got me that +7 Glaive, too. =)
