Royal coin - ancient gargoyles

I just started the Let's Become a Royal Member quest today. I went and got the coin collector album from Sandra, and then went on to kill ancient gargoyles for kail's coin. I must have killed around 50, but nothing. I talked to 2 people, who had gotten the coin on the first kill. I then went to talk to Bernard, to see if I needed to talk to him, and went back to killing gargoyles, and again; nothing.

I /gm'ed to ask if the quest was bugged, but I got the usual canned response saying they aren't allowed to give out information regarding drop rate of quest items.

What am I missing?
Just keep killing the quest mob that the in-game quest description says to. I remember I had to kill several, but the quest item finally dropped. Seems like I killed a quest mob in the middle of the pit also. That quest mob was a little troublesome to find. Do a saerch on the forums and you'll find a good description of where to find the quest mob - I think PainAmplifier was the one who wrote it, but I can't recall real clear on that.
Wha? I thought I should be killing ancient gargoyles O_o
From what I could understand from stratics, the quest mob is to get the album, if you don't wanna pay for it.
Nope. Couldn't have been me. I still need to upgrade to L1 Coin member, and as such I've never even done that part of the Coin quests yet. (Getting closer though.)
As I recall, I had to kill the gargoyles, and you might also have kill a quest mob in the pit. The quest mob is Fallen Orc Vegus, and from a reply post by admiral_ju00 "The orc spawns on the side where there's some rubble(and giant swords sticking out in the ground). " That is an area in the center "pit" he/she is describing. As far as whether you need to kill Vegus, here's something else I found: "I think a few are confuse regarding the parts in this quest, I just complete it last night and here how it work. you need the coin and the book, the coin are on Ancient Gargoyles. The book is the harder parts. Jewerly Sandra sell the book randomly through out the day. You will see it listed when you look to buy normal jewery, if you have bad luck and cannot see the book for sale and cannot wait, you can ask her to do a quest which require you to go kill the fallen orc vagas npc he only appear 3 time a day randomly and has a few protector. I took the quest and kill fallen orc Vagas and got coin drop and went back to Sandra to trade it for the book (select quest to trade), after I got the book I look at the jewery she was selling to buy it for my alt and the darn book is listed now for sale. A friend of my keep checking every hour and he got was able to buy the book even through he accepted her quest to kill the mobs for coin-trade book quest but have not find/kill the mobs. It all depend on luck..."
My luck was not good, the NPC did not have the book that Stratics describes, and I had to go kill Vegus. However, there were no protectors around Vegus when I did the quest, and I've done it twice in the past 2 months or so. NC must have changed that little detail in one of the chronicles.
Now I'm more confused than ever XD

I already have the book. I bought it from Sandra as the first thing I did, after starting the quest. But I'll go kill the quest mob tomorrow to see if that helps any.
Champa, don't kill the quest mob unless the NPC in Giran tells you to do so. After I went back and checked the quest, it seems this is an either/or step in the quest. Either the NPC in Giran has a certain book available for sale at a certain point during the quest (in which case you must buy the book), or the book is not available for sale and the NPC asks you to go kill Vegus. Either way, you will also have to kill Gargoyles to get the other quest item. My apologies for confusing you.
I spent about a thousand of soulshots with my Wizard's Tear (i have -10 Str build) before the coin dropped from an Ancient Gargoyle. So, keep trying :p
Hehe aww ****. Not what I was hoping for
But thanks for the help anyway, guys :)
K. It helps tremendously to kill the gargoyles during server primetime, just like with the event drop rates, you get it faster during the day when a lot of people are playing :)
Champa, one thing to know. If you take the Stolen Infernium Ore quest, the drop rate on the red Kail's Coins from Orc Shamans really drops, or at least it did for me. So, if you plan on doing the Stolen Ore quest, get as many red Kail coins as you can before you start the Infernium quest. Also, I found tne best rate on the red coins was from the Shamans in the ravine near the DP port spot. The Shamans don't morph into Tigers so much at the entrance to the ravine.
Ah, that sucks :( Thanks for the info.
I wonder if it's supposed to be like that.

Same thing here. You better choose which quest you want. Eventualy, I had to cancel the Inferium ore quest in favor of Kali's coins.
I know this of the Stolen Inferium Ore quest - one clanmate tried it a few months back, but during C5. He played the bingo I think 4 times and never got a thing. I have played it once and not gotten anything. I have heard it was a good quest, once upon a time, but I think it might not be much of a help now. Also, The Stolen Ore quest can always be worked at higher levels, once you move past FP, because the quests items drops in manyareas. Kail's Coins only drop in FP. Just some info, for what it's worth.
