you just know those dwarfs are gonna cash in, too
You must have turned off your brain before you said that. Typical craft fees are very low compared to the price the dwarf has to pay for the recipes. For example, my ten S weapon recipes cost a total of 180 million adena. People complain about the 2 million adena fee I charge, but at an averge of 1-2 crafts a week, making my money back will take a long time.
I guess most people think dwarves get there recipes for free, but that rarely happens, and it ususlly involves a deal to give free crafting.
No. I was wide awake when I said that.
True, if you bought the recipe yourself, then feel free to pass along the overhead to the market. I'm not saying you can't.
But...
I know at least 5 high level warsmiths who almost never pay for a single recipe. Let's not downplay the "free recipe-for-free craft" transactions. That's bread and butter negotiations for a warsmith. It's how I managed to get more than 90% of the weapons and armor recipes that I have in my book. It's all a matter of how you network as a crafter.
And if you happen to be in one of the larger clans, it's also unlikely that you'll pay for every recipe that you get. After all, your clanmates want/need the craft to maintain competitive advantage with rivals.
Now before you riddle me with lead, just answer this: for those weapon and armor recipes that you did get for free, do you base your charge for the craft on MP (which is the only true cost of craft shops for dwarfs) or "fair" Market Rate?
My guess is you'll say market rate. That's what I charge. That's what the other crafters that I know who didn't pay for their armor and weapon recipes charge, too. That's just good business sense.
As a dwarf, there is no need to be defensive about that. When I said, "You just know those dwarfs are gonna cash in, too," it wasn't a condemnation.
