When do I start using a bow?

I just hit 21. Before that I found the bow to be very frustrating...always running out of MP and not able to carry anything. Is there a point when this changes a bit? For now, dagger seems the way to go. Any thoughts?

Well I like using the bow and with the new herbs that drop out of the mobs it means that you probably won't have to sit to regenerate your mp too often. I have a level 26 Rouge with a bow and she never has to sit down. So it really depends. If you really like using the dagger that you should probably just stick with that :)

Indeed... some even go with a Dagger all the way to B Grade. But, that's not realistic. Who wants to use a dagger when u get the fancy schmancy lvl 40 skills?

The most efficient time to start using a Bow is B grade mainly because it is tons cheaper in Soul Shot costs and yeah, your mana pool will definitely be large enough to not run out.

Really though, I wouldn't use a bow until at least level 40. Before hand it is just much better to use a dagger. You have to save your money and leveling will just be faster, especially if you can get VR.

So start using a bow at C grade if you have the money, and definitely by B grade!

SS cost for bows have always sucked. Although an Emi wtih CS isn't a bad choice for leveling. Just make sure you have a Dwarf mule around......

I've known archers using daggers in the catacombs even higher than that and using the bows for pvp. If you can afford it always keep a focus dagger, so I've heard anyway, I'm just a nuker :p.

Use a dagger at least until 40, if not higher.

Do you have buffs? A dagger solo unbuffed won't be as strong as the archer after 40 esp.

Most archers I know carry a dagger. If they get low on MP, or low on HP (and VR is available), they switch to dagger for a while, then bow again.

i used a bow at lvl 5.. and haven't stoped... lol... but i'm hard core archer. I got a dagger at Agrade because i would always get argo when in a cata or in a bigger group, and at high levels, getting argo on an archer isn't good.
SS is really expensive D-B, Agrade is ok cause it's 1 arrow 2 ss, and Sgrade is 1 for 1, so i can carry a ton of arrows and ss, and hunt for as long as i want.
What i did at younger grades, was be overweight, and when i got to my hunting spot, i would put the extra arrows and ss on the ground till i ran out, then picked them back up again and go till i had to restock. But, an elvel elder with decrase weight, and recharges can be your best friend :)

Try a bow in a cata, kite around and see what happens. Then you will know why archers carry daggers in cata's.

I used a bow since I got my first full drop on Nectaria, at lvl 4 a short bow, haven't stopped since then either. Ofcourse if I would have known what I know now, I would have sticked to a dagger till 40.

Moneymaking at lower levels as an archer is virtually impossible, you need a 2nd char for that.

hmm i dont really feel like making alts :< i just wanna put all my effort on 1 char and stay on 1 server etc :) so i can become 1 overpowerd m0fo ^^

I didn't start to break even before 52, till 61 I was able to make some profit that would help me build up a nice pile of ***, GSAP, GHP and GCP.

But all my gear comes from my dwarfie's major marketing strategy , meaning from sitting in Giran.

At the moment at 70+ I make some millions by hunt with the clan or solo.

What necta said about money making, or you could use a dagger and do some manoring and sell the materials received for the fruits you made...

But I'd say for now, try to gain your lvl 40, go to Heine and there you will have a few quests available for you that will make you some serious money if you are willing to put the time of the hunt in it. The quest from the pet manager can be easilly done without the Soul shots which should give you some save up on Adenas while hunting down the required mobs.

Higher level mobs become profitable for expense to kill vs adena dropped on average. They also begin to take a lot more kills per level. The time required to level will also stretch out. At 35 you may make 3 or 4 levels a day. At 61, you may make 20-30% per day. This dramatically changes the adena you accumulate in a level.

To make money, learn to use the manor system. Don't just ask, use the serach function and find a thread on manor useage. Proper use of the manor can net millions in profit per week.
