What the hell :( Why do they have to remove all the event items just to roll out interlude, I was saving up medals to be able to afford a crystal (as are many of my friends), but now 4900 medals will go up in smoke for me :( Not to mention some 120 hearts I didn't get to turn in and was just going to save for next event.
Why do they always have to render the previous chronicle Replays INCOMPATIBLE with the next?
Because NCSoft's file format for the meshes, textures and landscape doesn't include "older" versions of the same object, just the most current one. Bad planning on their side, I'd say.
BTW: If you had a replay showing how you "glitch" through a hole in the wall somewhere, and a small patch would fix that hole, your replay wouldn't work either, for the same reason. :)
Me? I'll maintain my current Lineage 2 folder copy as "Lineage 2 - C5" just so I can re-view the old replays.
Excellent I spent money to warehouse tranfers to gather event items on a less used character and be able to use them next time... but no...
I wasn't event able to complete a tree before the end, I only had stuff for one or two small ones but didn't bother.
I kept medals because I only had enough to get a potion of go pex more noob. I thought the next time I would be able to starts at a higher grade... but no.
The 9 types of hearts were too many, I've already sent them to the trash bin so I don't bother, and for the squashes I finished the ones I had in time.
Sooo what's left from those events?
Haloween hats wearable when it's no more Haloween. No "Winter Solstice Season" hat because not wearable when it's not the "Winter Solstice Season"...
Let me count...
One scroll of accuracy. Waw great memories. I can't wait the next "Go play Lineage 2 as usual" event. It'll be awesome. I can see it :
"Look! This is a collector! It's a stem, dropped back in 200X during a huge event where I got an animal skin too. These things sells for hundreds of adenas now!!!"
The why only event items and no other? As far as I can tell from the files, they didn't change at all and how hard would it be to simply replace older items with new ones if it really is an issue
<old medal itemid> = <new medal itemid>
That's so people can't cheat and store up old items that also work for new events. They've been good about letting people know exactly how long they had to turn in their event pieces for a while now.
How is that cheating? Not everyone can get 10.000 medals in one go for a crystal, and it very much seems like the rewards are balanced to the same every time anyway, so you can't cheat.
Also, they didn't delete them all at the C5 launch, I still had my old pre-C5 items lying around.
Because event items are meant to be obtained during the quest period, not farmed, then horded to get a step up the next time the event is reused.
As for the crystals, in no way was that event designed to let one person earn a crystal. Can you go out solo and make a stage 12 crystal no event? Of course not. This event was set to make it easier but you still would need to pool resources. Instead of killing some unkillable boss for some clans, you could just combine efforts just killing regular mobs!
So how hard would it be for a bunch of players to make their own custom replay system? That could replay any replay from any chronicle....
It is after all just the UnReal engine.
Copy your Lineage 2 folder into a new location before the upgrade for Interlude, delete the LineageII.exe launcher there (you'll start the game directly via system\l2.exe) and hope GameGuard updates won't kill this version.
Also, I really hope the NCSoft team adds versioning to their file format so we don't have to deal with the same crap on the update Interlude -> CT1.

Have to agree here, the whole clan all be it a small one help to work for 1 crystal that event, though a few medals where bought it ment we got it for the price of a couple of D weapons.

I don't know what they are meant for, but if you keep them for the next time that means you don't get anything during the first one. Sounds fair to me, not cheating.
