ive taken a liking for fishing , started with the beginner lure learnt the ropes but now ive moved onto big boy lure im using green (coz its cheapest tbh) i dont see a difference between green and the others all say they are liked by fast fish are their any differences in between them?
the best ive been able to figure out is that they allow u to stay in one spot longer...after fishing in one spot for ten lures or so ive noticed a drop off in the rate of fish i catcha nd the rate at which they drop items when opened...nt sure if this is true or my delusions of fishing gained grandure and adena(obviously a pipe dream)
ive had about 15 or so treasure chests small jade chests jade chests and big green chests does changing lure change the type of chests u get and perhaps the items within the chests? ive only had recipes for greater fish oils and proofs of catching fish so far from chests
I was curious about this as well and did a small statistical survey back in early C5. Each lure lists a fish that it's more likely to catch... well it is true but from my numbers it's not much of an advantage. I found I caught about 5-10% more of the lures' prefered fish type than the other two.
If you stay in one place using one tye of lure you will eventually start to loose more fish. I'm pretty sure that in C5 they extended the time period you can stay still using the same color lure. Personally though, I only carry two lure types at a time, one color normal lure, and one color luminous for night fishing. I don't think prize-winning lures are worth it unless your fishing skill is maxed. If it isn't then you'll never win the competition anyways.
I did statistics on the lures also and found they always caught more of what they're not advertised to catch. I forgot the number now because I've throw the papers away. I had enough stats compiled to fully craft a feather hat plus a few more trinkets that got sold.
i had a play with the other lures just i brought 50 purple and 50 yellow lures and tried both with purple lure i lost 15 fish caught 5 prize winning fish and got 2 chests and with yellow lure i lost 11 fish caught 2 prize winning fish and again got 2 chests all in all i think theirs very little difference i think ill stick with green
I didn't catch any chests because all I did was night fishing. Thinking back I crafted and sold 3 feather hats. I would have done some more but our automated friends started getting in the action. Can't beat 110 feather hat mats showing up the very next day. I made a lot of money and the best part is I have enough proofs that I don't need to buy any.
also few more questions , fishing rods , whats the difference im currently still using my baby duck rod why would i buy the next one for 125k does it reduce breakages or cause more damage when pumping and reeling , also ive just increased my skill enough to catch blue fish now , but most are breaking is their a reason for this ? is it due to my rod ? or just coincidence , thanks for the replies
Fish at higher levels get more hp. The type of rod you use affects how much "damage" you deal. Higher level rods give more damage. So I can fish level 1-3 fishes with an A grade rode and pull them out 1 or 2 pulls without shots. I can't remeber if 1 pull was possible.
You can also upgrade your pumping and reeling to help deal more damage. Read up on this at the guide. Too much pumping and reeling versus your fishing expertise is said to be bad.
thanks , ive already maxed my pumping reeling and fishing expetise as much as i can atm i think ill invest in the next rod it takes a bit of work to get them out the water atm but i cant understand why most are breaking an example being 25 baits bring me 25 fish 18 broke >.<
a good question is are u useing fish shot? and if so you do reaslie that u have ti hit it every time, unlike soul shot that us on an auto use toggle..
the way i set up my hot bar is
F1=cast
F2=reel
F3=what ever the other skill is
F4=fish shot
i hit F4 ever time before i use either F2 or F3...seems to work really good for me..with 25 lures i get apprx. 23-25 fish...
the fish shot quest you can get from the same npc that you buy ur lures. during ur grind u will collect sweet fluid, you then exchange this fluid for what ever grade fish shot youd like..and to warn ya, on most servers fish shot is worth nothing to sell so dont bother geting A grade fish shot and trying to sell it...
yes i collect fishing shots ive been on the quest for sweet fluids since i began the game and yes i do hit it every time before i cast pump or reel i use f3 to hit shots and mouse to click either reel or pump i have no problem catching the fish usually and since ive switched to blue fish i no longer catch monsters i only catch chests and fish but as i said most are breaking about 60 -70% of my caught fish give me nothing back i only lost about 10-15% of the green fish i caught is this normal for blue fish or do i need to purchase the D grade rod?
Fish 'conversion' rate is only ~60%. Aka 'Clicking' the fish after you have caught it to convert it to fishing materials or Proofs.
Sadly there is nothing you can do to change this.
As for the Rod you use, I still use the NG (Baby duck) up to about L12 fishing expertise w/shots. Works fine.
You only need to buy a higher level rod if you can't land the fish in the time given. If you never level your fishing expertise, you can go on catching lower level fish with your current rod forever.

I've never had suck horrible luck converting fish...no idea what is up, I'll have to try a few later and see if I notice anything different on my chars.
it sounds to me like u just ahd a string of bad luck...witht he recently added "LV Pots" that allow a player to catch all lvls of fish..ive fished the entire hour with a pot and not opened a fish until the end...through doing this several times..siome ive goten almost all the fish to bare their fruits..and others ive goten all of 15 or 16 fish oils and that was it...and trust me an hours worth of fishing is a good amount of fish when ur useing B grade pole and maxed Lv skills with a pot for Lv 1-3 fish ^^ so yea...id have to say its the same conversion rate but just the luck of the draw when it comes to ur sucess rate on the actual fish u have
ive used about 100 baits this morning and its been alot better probs lost about 20 in total wasnt counting exactly as i was more interested in my bacon sandwich but seems better today
