Polearms

Well, I was on my newly minted SO last night with my Warrior friend and we were poling NoS. And we wondering, how many mobs is he hitting? How many mobs can be hit with a polearm? I know that for classes with no masteries, it's lower than classes with D-grade pole masteries and those are lower than classes with C-grade+ masteries.
People say 4 mobs but i know that before lvl 20 i did 5 mobs with my orc.. but later on they get polemasteries at 20+ so that could have mattered too.. but in general you can count on 4 mobs and never more if you can't get pole masteries
I'm not sure but it seems like the no grade pole will only hit more than one mob when you crit, or maybe its just a very narrow hit radius. I still AOE up to 20 on about 4 mobs cause its easy and fun.

I do 8 with D grade masteries, and have not had a problem.
I'm doing 6 to 8 at a time with a Halberd pole in Patriots with my WarSmith. I seem to hit them all. I don't want to try more because my defense isn't that good. If i can ever afford the Haste SA for it, i might try more.
I dont know if it is true at 40 -, but my destroyer can hit at least 20 mobs(thats the most I have pulled and actually counted the number I hit in the window). I have puled groups of 30 or more and didnt seem to have a problem, but I couldt guarantee I was hitting them all.
I used to pull 3 rooms in apostate early rooms which sum up to about 20 mobs i think, always one or two are not damaged but cannot know the exact number of poling ability but is by far more than four, even in NOS i used to pull two rooms(top d grade equipment and gsap potions). I got some masteries for the number of monster i hit but i used to pull more than four since i was in talking island. I think that no masteries poling is 8 mobs.

P.s remember that in poling what counts is the damage output and the right position. Not in exact corner the mobs spread and hit you from every direction without you being able to hit them back. For damage output use potion(alacrity or gsap if you can afford it, polers earn a lot of money) if no prophet around and if there is don't hesitate to buffed with berzekers, the greater p.attack and attack speed can heal you more than what you lose from the lower p,def, although get faster in pulling because you get hurt more.
18 mobs max
you can test it by going to a lowbie spot like mith mines or elven fortress
skills are less but i didnt check how many that was
While I'm on the subject of Polearms, where are some good places to pole besides NoS? Since my friend's poler is now 23, he no longer gets VR and I do not have that buff yet. Where are some good places to pole for a 23 Warrior and a 23 SO up to level 30. At level 30 we plan to go to HC.
there is a cata or necro at lvl20 already. try a small room there, with 4 mobs. might work even with no VR.
Try orc baracks. The monsters are 2* life and you get herbs to avoid downtime. To tell you the truch till you get vampiric again better change the weapon to blunt or sword or enlist another healer.
1) Last time I tried Orc Barracks, which was maybe November, there were no herbs. But, that could have changed, as I learned that AI has also changed since around maybe December.
2) I wouldn't get too hung up on poling at 20s levels. It's fast if you can work it out, but you won't be in 20s long. And without VR, it's hard for me to imagine having it go well.
at lvl 20s i was always at EG and at lvl 20 there is nothing to do trains with at eg but then i discover hangman trees ;) and after they worrn out i discover HC and then lvls flew by me :)
Half of the mobs in orc baracks have herbs. The North part of the baracks(not overlords part the other).

But poling without vr sucks so better take a blun t till lvl 30. Change it to blacksmith of mammon for free

Another option is to get into the academy of a clan with CH in gludin. I used to solo NOS with clan hall buffs. With healer you can pull 2 rooms with ease. Try heretic after 32
back while i was in branded i could train like 2 rooms so i would say around 10-15
Word of warning poling is much harder now, just got out of witches and the mobs don't stack they surround you and stay inside ya. What use to be 14-16 mob pulls is now suicide as you only hit maybe half them.
They ruined poling with interlude...i used to train min 4 mobs and could hit all of them with np now 80% of the time they do a circle around me and i can hit max 2  wth? what`s the point of poling if i can never hit more mobs than 2? this aggroed me bigtime
Well see us dwarfs were sooo powerful they though"they need a little nerf to bring them in line with archers" :)
Indeed, this is ridiculous. Warlords, polearms and spoil festival are useless since Interlude...

Someone must have put the evil eye on the dorfies.
I've seen a few pictures of trains cleanly lined up around corners, which means it's harder but neither useless nor impossible. Time to break out long blow/wide blow I guess.

yeah it'll suck if wideblow becomes the sa of choice for polers

i done some aoe today and just when i figure i had it worked out the mobs would just randomly shift
its a friggn stupid change if you ask me, i can pull 4 mobs and only hit 2 or pull 12 and get every single one

there is absolutely no need to nerf aoe in L2
just change it back to the old brainless guaranteed stacking we had in C5 so we have the same mindless mobs that archers, mages and daggers get to take advantage of

Yes Yes Maline, but the point is that there was absolutely no need to change this. Neither of those classes needed a nerf.
I'm not debating that point at all.

I'm just saying: It's more difficult, it's not over.
not impossible but worth it? Its the only thing goin for me and to change it when it wasn't a problem makes no sense.
well, the "difficulty" it`s over the limit imo :P
i mean more difficult would be if instead of being able to train dozens of mobs to just a few ..let`s say min 4-5, but not 2
I did try to rearrange trains but it`s not really effective, they always take a random position; in ~10 tries i never managed to hit more than 3 mobs, before this could do easy 8-12mobs.
What`s the point of poling now? i have normal atk spd but i can hit multiple mobs!...keep it this way :P FIX IT!
Well guess it is back to manoring hardcore in the cata's on academy alts.
Maybe they force you to use new "towering blow" or something?

Edit: I mean Long blow under new name
dont worry like i said on a censored site, poling in catas/necros/places with good corners ya wont have any problems with whatsoever. So gg on failing a nerf lol (note pull atleast 6 mobs tho, else one part will stack up on one side of the corner and the other part on the other side
oh great O_o i`ll keep my poler in catas and never show him the light of day ever again...or maybe ncsoft will introduce a summonable corner :/
am i the only one who thinks this is wrong?
Considering that pole parties on Lionna generally keep whole dungeons swept if they go there, I'm pretty happy to see it's not the Ultimate Easy anymore. :p
Im not sure. is there any D or C grade pole masteries? isent it just pole-masteries?? anyway, I have never poled in no-grade, but i know in Dgrade I could pole 3 rooms, so 24 mobs, with my human warrior. now as a glad I can still pole 24 mobs. I belive with no masteries at all, you can pole 5-7 mobs or so. on my TH it looks like he his ~4 mobs on his swing, but additional 2-3 mobs when he swings his pole back for next swing. Im sure its 1 swing, not 2 swings (or i would have insane fast attackspeed with my pole >.< )
Bring back the old mindeless mobs that stuck in one pile when you polle them.

As it is said it's possible to pole especialy in catas with nice corners but need much more skill to do than before for bringing the mobs to right position and also we must carefully select the mob to be in the middle so we affect all the others. I manage to pull up to two cata rooms as i used but till i get used to the new way mobs spread my SE was pushed to his limit, it was his skills this time, by the way he got invocation, god this is nice skill,we had no downtime for mp rest even when i was not hiting the mobs properly

For first time i am considering to change my SA from critical stun to wide or towering blow. has anybody already done it to tell me if it is helpful or doesn't worth it.
So faar I havent had any problems poling in catas. sure, you cant use the corners like you did befor, but when you figuer it out where to pull em, its as easy to pole as befor. i still prefer CS. for me I miss maybe 1 mob ever 5 pulls, and have to finish it off with my duals. I can live with that. I have to wait about 20 sec after each pull for warcry to be ready when I start wakking anyway.
