This is my first time hunting Devil's Isle. I wanted to farm Vale Masters to get Drake glove parts, but I can't find them. I figured they might be in the outside areas, but they seem to be blocked by gates. Are there any maps of this place? Anyone know how to get to some Vale Masters? How do the gates work?
Aren't you thinking of garden of eva? I haven't seen any doors that open automatically on devil's island. But it's possible that you need a dagger to unlock some doors to get to the mobs you're looking for. I haven't been there a whole lot.
Almost there, just need another hint. I followed the map, and got to the spot where the arrow marks "one way". That point is a finger of rock sticking out into a cavern. I jumped down into the water (taking no damage), and fought my way to a partially submerged ramp on the west side. I am unable to get on to the ramp. I have yet to see a Vale Master. What do I need to do in order to get on the ramp?

If your at the spot I think swim into the boat in the water.
Just before the rock finger are some hallways with pirate zombie captains, doll bladers and Sairon's doll groups. Those same mobs are also in the cavern where you jump down.
When I got down there I saw some steps on the east side, but I could only go up 2-3 steps, enough to get my head above water. From that vantage point all I could see was the ramp on the west side. From the map, it looks like that west ramp get you on the ship, but I cant get up the ramp.
Make sure you got a SE with Purify with you. Those dolls who have to pass do a nasty paralize skill. This place is def not a place to go solo. (Unless its changed.... haven't been there for a long time)
DI sucks since you can't do AOE party's with 5 Doll groups at once. You waste MP on mobs that morph every 5 seconds, enviromental damage, lay out that changes every chronicle...
