Stores that contribute to blocking hallways, arches or passages in peace zones are subject to being relocated by GMs.
I am on the bartz server, and in giran, outside the warehouse, everyday, the hallway that leads to the main courtyard and to the grocery is full of private shops, and they are set up on the stairs and in the archways, and it is always annoying because half the time they block the way and there is only a little spot to squeeze through, now that there says that GM's are suppose to do something about it, why dont they
Because you have to report it so they know to move them? They dont have a GM dedicated to watching Giran all day.. If you petition, they will move the shops.
I hate the concept of selling things in L2 period
I don't want to be able to do nothing while selling, and I certainly don't want to leave my computer running every night just to sell my garbage, increasing the electrical bill aswell
Yes, I agree, blocking hallways is annoying, as if it's not hard enough to navigate a laggy Giran. I actually remember one point just after the C3 update Sieg had a mass of people sitting around the GK, it was actually impossible to get into range of Clarissa to port unless you logged out, logged in, targetted her and hit attack - just had to hope you got there before the players showed up on your client.
I dont know how to go about submitting a sugessition(sp) for improveing this, but i think that a NPC to sell items (a Auctionere) would be a great idea, have him take 10-20% of profits(so selling on your own is still a good idea, but you have to be tied up to sell on your own) he takes you items, and works just like a normal NPC shop (shows what he has for sell and the price) or might work diffrently depending on what ideas come up in development of it.
But if you did that he would send you a letter (more use of message system) saying come pick up your money or something, to let you know XX item(s) have sold and what ever, you could go hunting, log out, or anything and still have items up for sell.... what you guys think?
Sounds like a good idea, it's used in another MMORPG I play called Wurm. You hire a merchant to sell things for you, give him money to buy stuff too. Maybe you should take this to the Game Suggestions forum.
You could even have a head merchant who has a list of every item available for sale and who's selling it. This would, however, have a negative impact on the people who play the market - finding that accidental store who missed a '0' from his asking price ;)
This auctioneer topic has been suggested often, but it is not liked by the majority of the L2 population. We like the feel of a Mideivel marketplace where you can buy low and sell high and make a forturne, if you ware willing to take the risk and are smart enough.
If you search these forums you will find many long threads discussing this in detail, and welcome to L2!
Petition, they will be moved - and best yet, they will be moved to the fringes of the marketplace where nobody will buy from them, usually quite promptly. ;)

Last time I /gm'd about Private shops blocking the hallway, the GM moved me. to the gatekeeper.
I petition often, usually when I am really annoyed by the shops blocking the stairs (especially when there are so many shops that you cannot click the ground anymore to walk down the stairs, instead you open one of the shops sitting there...). Most of the time, a GM moves the shops quite fast. Sadly though, some of the GMs do not really seem to understand the problem - they move the shops from the stairs, but place them all bunched up at the top and bottom, so that you have problems actually getting to the now free stairs...
I like the idea of a Shillen Hand-grenade. Useable by any class, level 40+, but only works inside Giran town.
Especially effective against dwarfs when in sitting position. ;)

This is true but i think someone is working on that, you know like a pet or something that sells your stuff while your out raiding/Pvp or pve-ing/ ect. or mabey a more expensive one that sells it while your offline!!!
i'd love a market system like eve-online, just have your dorf put stuff up for sale, on a market that is always on, even if the player isnt, so you can sell your items 24/7, not have to sit in town all day and not level, you could be out leveling and, bam just earned 30mil adena from selling something, you'd play the market like a stock market, setup a buy order, do some crafting, then setup a sell order, it'd be great

I don't /gm anymore.
That's actually pretty funny. :D
I've yet to run into a situation where I was completely blocked, but yeah, moving around in Giran can be pretty annoying. Need a 5 foot rule on shops, or something.
I don't mind the idea of hiring an NPC to sell your stuff but only if you can still decide on the price you want to sell at. Using this concept dedicated areas could be set up (neatly which would be nice and save the annoying blocks that the op is experiencing) for shops.
However like most people who play L2 I am totally against Auction Houses
I think they should do blocked areas in towns for selling stuff, when you try to setup shop, it checks to see if you are in a vendor area. leave a path along the walls for people to go down if they don't want to wade through the mess of dorfies.... and around certain NPCs like the Gatekeeper and Priest of Dawn etc, have a square sectioned off where you can't setup shop.. centralize the market some in towns...
I like the way of shops work in L2 but a specific zone for sell like Sylvannah says will be the best i think.
Free GK free path to go where you need i think that will be nice. Other idea but i think this is a harder one to build is to make specific zones (Craft Shops, Sell Shops, Buy Shops) and that zones restricted to that only, and if thats is a possible thing the Zone also can have a Bonus for the players Craft shops with a Bonus on regen MP
This is prob off subject tax the shops in respect to territory. That harsh 15 percent tax in grian will surely clear up the congestion.
Another way I think of a swap meet u buy a spot or a selling permit and u sit in a zone specifically marked for selling same with buying. prob solved. manor territory gets there extra income buyers and sellers will now have to flood other cheaper town areas to avoid those taxes.
U will now see a new trend of quality shops and avoid those that spam junk and clog those important access arches stairs.

It's a problem that lineage users deal with every day.
Running into ppl that have set shops EVERYWHERE. Then your character stops, you point, you click, aaah, problem, you've clicked on another shop owner instead of some free landing space. You click more, your character moves an inch, stops again. You change your course, shouting abuse at the mute pc screen, your character stops again, you point, you click, you point, you blah-blah-blah...
Wow. This sucks BIG TIME. Many ways to solve this problem.
a) make a market area outside/inside the town/catas/rift/whatever specific locations. Make stalls, with allocated corridors. Make it impossible for somebody to set up stall outside designated areas. Think of something else.
b) (THE PERFECT -me thinks- WAY) Invent a way where u place your I-want-to-sell articles at some spot/npc character/statue/whatever, then log off. Your items get categorized, ppl locate them in a list, ppl buy them, you turn your pc on, hey, your adena is there. Solved.
