At level 44 a Bishop gets his first opportunity to learn Repose (I've skipped it due to famaliar skill descriptions and am now looking to spend SP on something that I might just need).
Summary:
-Peace costs 39 mana to cast and its description is "Puts opponent's mind at peace. Desire to attack is decreased."
-Repose costs 59 mana to cast and its description is "Diminishes undead monster's will to attack."
I skip learning Repose since it looks like it costs more mana to use and is limited to only undead monsters where Peace is easier on mana and works on everything.
I'm probably just misunderstanding the when, where and why's of these spells. Overall I just get cought up in the descriptions and dont want to blow SP on skills I may already have or wont need.
In 77 levels I've never used peace and used repose maybe 5 times. Does that answer it? LOL
IF repose works, if you have a ton of mobs beating on you (undeads of course) and you cast it, they stop attacking and just stand there. If they are aggro and you trigger the aggro again they are right back on you. ie: you repose a group of 10, it fails on 3, so you try to nuke the unreposed one, you aggro the whole pack again.
Peace is probably good for travelling into dungeons (since the AoE equivalent of it EEs used to have was good for that as well), Repose I'd skip out on - will be rare that you have an undead-only crowd hitting you.
A few notes on these skills though - not EVERYTHING that generates aggro will put them back on you.
1. For a time, you can move freely even around aggressive peaceful mobs. That means similar to veil, it can be used to easily sneak through dungeons without having to fight.
2. You can do good stuff to yourself without re-raising aggro - i.e. a heal would pull a still-aggro mob back on you, but it won't do so for a pacified mob.
3. As Ellie pointed out, direct damage on social targets will get these mobs back on you. Use this to your advantage if you have friends there in case you draw aggro. Also great for training.
Last time I remember using repose was on the battle grounds and it wasn't very successful, it'll tell you something like "failed to disarm" or whatever. I could go out and demo it again, it's a meh spell much like requiem that I just don't bother with.
Both great answers! Thank you both Ellie and Maline for helping me with Peace, Repose, Sleep and Trance.
I think that I can make a good decision based on your help. Again thank you, I have played quite some time but my other characters (SH, Glad, WS, TH and SE) were for the most part very different ways to play the game, which is why I am now going Bishop for the drastic change and I love it, unfortunatly I dont know any Bishops for some reason.
I may have a few questions later as I find myself a little more confused in the land of the Healer with little offense. Maline I have to say, I never considered myself able to run a train with a Bishop but thats pretty funny, might give it a shot sometime =)
I started using Peace in my 70s... cuz that's when it started landing. For instance, I can now run thru a catacomb casting peace on the aggro mobs and make my way thru for a rez. ... that is if there isn't a group of mobs. Also, for instance, out in Varkas, I can peace the antelopes.
Peace works. You trance, then peace, then run off. They forget about you and walk away. I don't think Peace works in pvp. Well, I've never tried it anyway... but that would be nice.
Requiem and Repose, meh. I wouldn't waste the time to level them up. Altho they are soooo pretty when you cast them :)
I use Peace with my prophet often. Obviously it isnt a 100% land effect, but at lvl 58, I've Peaced mobs 70+ without bsps or empower, just zerked and a mid c-grade weapon. Works great when being chased by only one high level mob, but not useful with multiple mobs as the reset timer is too long.
Peace was one of my favourite things about my bishop. I used it often, and it has saved my life several times, even with a low D weapon up to level 52 (same level mobs ofc)
In 77 levels I've never used peace and used repose maybe 5 times. Does that answer it? LOL

You must be a terrible bishop if you're 77 and you've never used peace. That skill alone will save you more mp than you could ever imagine in healing, and will also save many people from having to accept rez from you.
If someone levelled a bishop to a 77 Cardinal then they are a GREAT Bishop/Cardinal. They can choose whatever spell set they wish, but they obviously were quite successful at it, even if it was s different methodology than you used.
Wait, did YOU level a Cardinal to 77, or are you just criticizing someone else who did?
For a while I didn't use Peace because it never seemed to work and I didn't quite understand it... but now I use it all the time. In my opinion, the best scenario to use it is when you're being chased by 1 mob, and if you tranced that mob or did anything else, a whole load of mobs would come after you. Peace does not agro surrounding monsters, even if they are agressive and so is perfect for disabling one monster (permenantly if you run away).
If you're having problems landing Peace and you need it to land, then Trance/root the mob first and then Peace. Thats another point, even though a Bishop's Root is only lv9, I still use it all the time and have managed to Root lv 70+ mobs (may take a few tries, but if you're in a archer/nuker party it can be helpful).
As for Repose/Requiem - the only real use I find for them is for making pretty objects above your head, and making people in Dion go ":O wow what skill is that??"
That's the same ridiculous statement as always. Someone does not neccessarily play their class well just because they managed to play it to a high level (although I'm not thinking of Ellie here).
if you have to peace mobs to save mp, your obviously a terrible bishop.
Your dd's are crap, Me and ellie were doing full pagens room with Outside PP, and in party 2 hawkeyes, bd and her and a EE
Now name one stage when we would need it there?? we can tank with out going under mp lol.
I cant believe u would even say Peace is useful, its a waste, if your people cant "tank or take extra damage" from one monster, then you obviously shouldnt be where your exping.
lol u noobs u carebears u heal hp instead of removing them!!!!
Erm sorry... :)
I use Peace when I need to pass through aggro in an area where mobs are linked. I use Trance when there's no risk of link (it lands easierly). Also I use Peace when I don't want to move away from where I stopped the mob (Trance + delog is ******ed... I prefer reboot!).
I use Repose when I need cute sparkling lights effects to increase chance of drop. Ok I know this is stupid, but I tell myself what I want to hear! Grrrr!
Ok lets put it this way, what instances will a bishop have to trance a monster, running through on a gank fun in a catacomb passing several rooms, so yes i will relog at the end of those rooms to clear agro, just like i would on a caster with sleep, because u get 4-5 agros at a time.
Secondly, When is a bishop outside town ALONE LOl unless your a newb level like most of u, lol level 60, l2p :)
MoS, those exploding mobs when tanks pull the angels for aoe, peace those and it could save you your party from alot of pain or yourself with lots of overhealing
actually im more saying your stupid for going out alone, and if u even try to justify the fact that you can "solo" you are lying out your *** because the exp is x3 faster in any party, even if u have a outside recharger past level 60.
Ive been playing since beta kid, id know a tad more than u about this game having 3 noble chars and having been hero on Kain on 2 seperate characters totally 8 times :)
Ok, so what if you've logged into the game and your clan invites you to their party. Would it not make more sense for the Bishop to make his own way to the party, using Trance/Peace on any mobs that may agro them, than the whole party making their way to the nearest port spot, wasting exp time?
I don't solo with my Bishop, but there are times when I need to run somewhere without anyone to escort me - using Peace is a time saver, especially when Trance only lasts 15 seconds.
And just because you've been a hero 8 times doesn't mean you're better at the game than anyone else... it just means you've played more.
If your "running" anywhere, if its single mobs, then u dont need to use peace because you trance and keep running, you will OUTRUN IT, you DONT NEED TO PEACE.
If your going to a catacomb then you wont be able to make it with trance alone or using peace so your gone either way, simply put, peace is useless
Of course if you actually trance all the mobs in one catacomb room (or are you going to draw them out into the hall and tank them all?), you will be in combat mode, so are you admitting to exploiting by forcelog?
Please. SoE is superior to trance for travelling, and I'd be vastly surprised if the trance didn't work the same.
Ellie, if you're really claiming that your level is proof of your skill at your class, aren't you just digging your own grave? You know perfectly well how many people that can't play run around at high levels.
PS: SoE is sufficient in catacombs, don't see why peace wouldn't be if you used it right. As always - if you TRANCE in a catacomb room, you bring the whole thing down on you (unless you want to try tanking those AoE stunner mbos?), similar everywhere else. You can use peace to PREVENT having to deal with half, sometimes three quarters, of the mobs in a catacomb room. Why on earth would you not want to do that?
Once again. Playing longer does not make you smarter, or better at your class. There isn't so much knowledge about any given class in L2 that it would take you years of study to perfect playing it.
In 77 levels I've never used peace and used repose maybe 5 times. Does that answer it? LOL
You must be a terrible bishop if you're 77 and you've never used peace. .
oO Ouch!! Hey, don't be picking on our EllieBelly!! She is the most awesome source of information in regard to Bishop/Cardinal we have on the forums.
Although I think she missed out on the use of Peace, for sure.
And there's nothing to say about fearcilicious. The yuck oozing out of that person's posts hardly warrants regarding them as serious. I just love people who tell you they've been playing since Beta and know so much more than everyone else, so no need to ever question them. Jeez, that always impresses me that there's no need for anyone else in game but them.
Every bishop/cardinal gets their own style of doing things. When I discovered Peace finally worked and made my life a little easier, well, I use it lots of time and am as pleased as punch with myself when that aggro monster just turns around and walks away. :) ;)
Sigh. I'm not even going to argue about this stupid junk, all I said was I never used peace ever (sleep, than trance worked just fine for me thanks) and people have the gall to call me terrible.
I use peace when one mob is aggroed on me and the rest of the party is dealing with other mobs. Sometimes its better than trance because when trance wears off, you'll usually get re-aggroed.
It's been a while since I made a comment on the general boards as I discovered most of the people posting are theory players not actual experience players. Peace is one of the bishops best skills in pve. In many of the games areas you can bring a party through somewhere (be it for pvp, or exp) without having to shadow or stop to kill anything. The poster with an attitude (you know who you are) lacks basic knowledge about trance. Trance does not last as long as sleep and therefore it isn't easy to log out after trancing a mob unless you have a very long way to run, which just isn't applicable in most situations that are not open ground. In addition to that, it's just foolish to log out and cause the problems that creates when you can simply use a skill for 69 mp to eliminate the possibility of anything bad happening. A bishop who doens't use peace isn't neccesarily a bad one, but I wouldn't want to party it.
It's not about needing to use it. Of course you can usually save yourself major heal in parties as well - that doesn't mean it's not a great skill.
How idiotic and backwards is it to imply the choice to use a skill where it is simply the superior the solution could possibly be a need/result of an inferior party setup?
by forcelog i was refering to getting out of range and combat and logging out, thats what i call forcelogging, but i guess your one of those exploiters who uses other terms hey?
Oh and yes, why would a bishop be pulling a catacomb room are u that dumb? People are saying Oh but if im running somewhere, sure just run through and trance and log when u get to the end to clear agro, your good as gold. Oh and are u that dumb that u would TRANCE a monster inside the room? Like who is that stupid really lol, i guess u are, u trance in a side room lol.
Ps. who apart from botters exps in catacombs? oh but i guess your one right?
Oh and really if your group or u cant handle 1 monster u shouldnt be out exping.
Good luck getting out of range into a safe are where you won't re-aggro in a dungeon.
Plenty people exp in catacombs at any given level. Running through by yourself and getting four mobs beating on you, including maybe some stunners, until you have time to trance them, is a certain setup for disaster.
But this whole thing applies in places like ToI as well.
And yes, there's nothing wrong with an SE or EE doing the pulling in any given dungeon - they have ranged virtually no-aggro spells that can be used for this, in addition to root/trance in order to seperate groups. Since they are also usually not hitting things, they have the freedom to get the mob towards the group without building aggro that requires more than a swing from the tank to regain, and therefore avoid time spent running rather than fighting.
Peace is a very very very useful and borderline overpowered skill. I can train all of toi 10th floor and individually peace every single mob, infact i've done it. You can single handedly get to pretty much anywhere in the entire game. I've gotten down to 2nd floor of fotg using just peace without relogging. With empower it has a sick landrate, and even a prophet with lvl 1 peace can usually land it within a few tries. One of the nicest things about it is you can use it in the middle of a room of social mobs and it has no aggro effect, unlike trance/sleep.
Infact, not considering the pvp aspect of things i use peace 10x more than i use trance or sleep. Repose is well... its fun to use when you run into the 3rd floor raidboss in toi and you get like 5-6 undead mobs on you :)
For the cardinal who is 77 and has never used peace, well, sorry but i'm sure a few people have died on your watch who easily could have been saved. Its an excellent skill, you should learn how to use it. Between your heals and peace you can save your entire party from 15+ mobs at once easily. And for those of you who are going to cry to me for insulting someone else's class, i have a hero bishop who is 15% away from 79, so save it.
if you have to peace mobs to save mp, your obviously a terrible bishop.
Your dd's are crap, Me and ellie were doing full pagens room with Outside PP, and in party 2 hawkeyes, bd and her and a EE

If u noobs even use peace your all idiots
Trance and relog, like can u be even more stupid?
And those anti-undead peace ones, goodluck only place u get to use it really is DVC and even then its range dosnt work too well.
Learn to play your class for what it is, a support class that should never be out alone, especially at a higher level.
I would never use peace on a bishop k thx bye
Jesus christ do you even know what the skill does? Peace works on all mobs not just undead like repose/requiem. Please don't try to defend a class you know jack [censored] about just because your best friend for life doesn't use the skill. Its not a skill that you use when your party is attacking mobs, that makes it completely useless, thats what sleep/trance are for. Its a skill for when you're trying to lose aggro, not control it. You just made yourself look like a complete [censored], good job.
And your pagans party sounds completely awesome, its a shame that its more than easy to duo it with oop bd/pp/se(or wc) and no heals and still clear an entire room. I'm sure you guys kick some major *** with two hawkeyes using bows and two healers, so strong. And incase you didn't get my point before, the one about you not knowing [censored] about bishops/peace? You wouldn't use it in pagans unless you were trying to lose aggro, not control it.
Any monkey can hit heal, balance life, greater group heal it doesn't take a lot of skill to do you know? Good bishops are those who know how to utilize the rest of their skills.
Note what i said you ******: And those anti-undead peace ones
When did i say peace only works on undead, learn to read, go finish highschool you dropout.
To the person before, what ****** bishop are u, ive run through on my bishop that i got to 78 into catacombs tranced and relogged fine, i dont know what u are talking about lol, but normally if your a bishop running like that, u deserve to die :)
Ferslicious, thank you for posting but next time consider using less insults. It takes away any value of what you have to say and more or less is the same as if you hadnt posted at all.
You need to noble your 7 characters, maybe you'll know how to play then. Because if you think that aggroing rooms when joining a party is lethal for a bishop without trance + forcelog (yeah outrun aggro in catas... we're talking about Lineage 2 you know), then YOU deserve to die. Bishops using Peace won't anyway.
Also as you think about solo when we're saying "going outside" and that you think catas are for bots, that gives an idea how you leveled your chars. It's really pathetic that 6X bishops know more than a 78 one. Were you afk all the way there?
If you can't handle aggro, forcelog... yeah I assume that makes you a reference. But sorry I can handle it without forcelogging. I must be using a cheat or be a bot, sure. :)

Actually i sleep/trance and relog easily works in a catacomb dont know what your talking about lollll.
Oh and sorry to say Catas are [censored] exp, they are low compared to any other places around the level u can go so yes, thats why bots take it up. A 6X bishop knows jack [censored] about this game sorry. I leveled noble legit homey sorry to break it to you
Forcelog refers to when you keep hitting restart when u are in combat until it falls down while being chased by monsters or after trancing and running a distance, but you dont use it cos u "lawl peace" all the way.
I actually made the point that any bishop who is even thinking of training mobs is pretty stupid, unless if their pulling for any AOE party with celetial shield , which can be quite useful ;)
So wait your trying to say, for example if your in forge of the gods and u pull... oh wiat your level 60 LOLLLL
Ofc u know nothing about end game, 15 mobs without an aoe party = your dead.
Level a bit then learn the real game, then prehaps ill talk to you later
Pull != Pull a train. But of course the concept that pulling one mob at a time is actually more convenient for most archers and healers/buffers are better at that even than daggers except if there's a really close bunch of 4 or 5 mobs eludes some people.
Of course, since you level legitly, I'm sure you're aware that not every party is an archer party that can blast everything away, and that a good healer especially shines in imperfect groups (since in perfect groups he is likely mostly sponging exp).
I have lvl 1 peace on my proph, and I use it very often. Mob agro me, i cant run away or its archer or too many mobs around, 1-5casts of peace and mob walks away. Even the lvl 1 peace, without shots lands pretty well on 80+ lvl mobs. And one cardinal learned the peace spell after he saw me using it :) (hi xRainx :P)
I love the peace spell on my Bishop, means that I can get solo to people who have died and need a rez without people needing to come and collect me. Peace takes a lot less time than a trance and relog.
Shame they didn't give either trance OR some form of peace to SE though.
1 thing I think might confuse 'older' players is that I believe it originally did pull agro from surrounding monsters, if it still did that it wouldn't be half as useful. Luckily they changed it so even if you are standing right next to another mob when you use it it doesn't worry about it now.
yes my first main was a PP and it used to do that, also Sleep was super fast until it changed in c4, when i was 70+ on my SPS main and 60 on my pp so yea, i was a tad too high to care for peace, i had aoe sleep :)
how is pulling with root/trance/peace quicker? the dagger uses lure and gets 1 mob, not to mention daggers are pretty much the fastest race in the game, l2p
It is sure easily possible to exp without a healer, i was talking about perfect real partys ;)
If your healer is holding down the heal button, you need to move spots. Every time the dagger breaks away from your group, he has to waste MP on silent walk that could have gone into vicious stance (or carefully lure the foremost mob).
The healer SHOULD have a fair amount of idle time and full MP, which he shouldn't spend sitting since after all a real point healer is only needed in case of emergencies, and those emergencies can come too fast if you're sitting down.
Curse Weakness is cheaper than Lure for single respawns (3 MP), and trance/root are faster than silent stepping up and trying to lure a mob.
U think a dagger is better using Vicious Stance than a Backstab or another special? HAHAHAHHAHAHAHHA LOL NICE, Learn classes, your a classic!
SO wait
Curse weakness is cheaper than lure? SO wait, what about adding in peace? oh wait it costs u more, if were adding up the mp we might as well get the archers to shoot from 900 range loll if were not peacing like u said!!!
Oh and what dagger silent steps until he gets pretty close, lures then runs i mean really? their way faster than u lol
The healer that is busy healing has a EE recharging for a reason lol, and they have that 2000 mp over 30 second skill for a reason, the ee takes over healing during that time cutie.
Obviously no one gets a dagger to pull at high levels, we use archers.
Ive never once seen a healer used to pull, cos we dont send magic users in to pull mobs lol, nice logic though lolll
Most healers don't CC pre-emptively, therefore the impression that root is a completely inferior method of CC to sleep (untrue), and that a boxed healer/buffer does just as well as a live one.
Seriously though, if your healer is ALWAYS healing, he or she should be taking the group to another spot.
It doesn't matter what the dagger does with the MP by the way (vicious stance can be useful if - zomg - you don't have full buffs), it matters that the time and MP he spent on pulling is better spent by the healer.
Yes indeed, if you party has to spend a lot of time sitting so that the healer is regenning mana then you are not hunting as efficiently as you might. A move to a place with slightly lower exp/mob might result in a significantly higher exp/hour ratio.
This is why Invocation is a significant change for good Bishops. Depending on your level, you can generate ~1500 MP in 30 seconds, rather than 5 minutes of sitting. For Bishops who like to solo it increases exp well, but it also allows groups with Bishops to up the exp with less downtime for MP. Makes it kinda hard to find bio time, tho.
I'm am still stunned that fearsilicious would rather forcelog than use a simple skill and thinks that anyone who doesn't follow suite is an idiot. My god. Me thinks (s)he loves drama!! I mean, look at his/her posts!!! I'm also surprised people are responding to him.
so theobserver your gonna stand and try peace every single one of the monsters around u when u have 5-6 monsters on u? ;) idiots
Oh and Yes when the dagger is pulling the bishop can invocation and get mp back, and no Lower exp/mob is NOT better
When you do four seps or pagens or monastry or forge of gods with a full 9 man party, the best exp spots in the game for sure, you need to have a REAL person pulling lol
You peace before you get monsters on you, that's the whole point...
I'm glad your bishops have invocation available all the time and not every 15 minutes like everyone else, that explains how they can keep up with constant heals.
Well a real Mage party will always have renewel/Conc up so yea thats about 5 minute recharge at the game, not to mention chant of magus or cov and yes SH's work very well with bishops in party especially at higher levels with BTM and all that good stuff.
So your Wasting time with Peacing monsters and mp, so how is that more effective than a dagger doing it i dont get it lollllll, oh and sorry say , at HIGHER levels it dosnt land too often, we tested it just for u cutie
Peace is a perfect skill for solo traveling. Though it becomes quite useless for most hunting parties as mobs are mostly social and people mostly don't stop hitting mobs. Even more, many DDs don't know about peace and hit mobs back even if you move through catas, for example.
Generally you aggro 2-4 mobs per room in catacombs when you travel through a room. It's more than ok amount for bishop. To make peace work better you have to use it on peaceful monster. Fortunately, mobs become peaceful once they leave their spawn area. That is, once they leave catacombs room you found they in. After that you can easily use peace on every single mob in your train and go firther.
It's better to cast peace in transit, that is, move during cooldown time. This way you'll not be hit too often by mobs. If your hp drop down quickly, just heal youself and continue.
Repose is similar to peace, but has sever limitations making is mostly useless. It has less power and works only on undead monsters. Generally you are supposed to use Requiem prior to Repose so undeads around won't attack you again.
Back in C3 we made AOE party in Ancient Battlegrounds. At the time tank trained a BUNCH of mobs (about 50) our nuker disconnected. No worries - tank runs in circles, I cast Requiem and spam Repose. In few seconds we safely leave the place - all undeads lose aggro and don't react on our presence. It took a lot of mp, but we sirvived without DDs.
Peace is mostly useful for cases of resurrection people in dangerous areas. You can go there solo and rez people. Even if mobs stand upon dead body you can pull them and use peace in nearest corridor so they won't attack resurrected person or you while you resurrect him/her.
With only peace I can travel through TOI from lvl 1 to lvl 13. It's not working with trance - mobs follow you after they wake up.
I explored MoS alone with only peace being used. It goes slow, but it's quite possible.
Many times I gone to resurrection of people in Kariks room and the room before them in Lair of Antharas.
As for pulling mobs in exp parties... I don't think peace has a relation to pulling.
I just want to say, that Peace is now my favorite way to identify botters!
If a player seems "botlike" (non-responsive, trouble navigating terrain, stuck on little things like fences or rocks trying to get to a target etc.) I would spend 3 mp to curse weakness each of the various mobs (one or two at a time maybe more depending on mob travel speed, recast on peace is like 10 seconds it seems so too many at once isnt very easy) in his "bot grinding zone" and move the mobs elsewhere.
The bot just stands there, for hours with nothing to do but wait for my petition to go through.
Last night for some fun I decided I'd try moving some "social/linked" mobs right on top of each other and peaced them one by one. This worked surprisingly well as a bot (not all, some dont attack linked mobs in the vicinity of too many of their same type as a precaution) killing method!
I LOVE this skill! With a little planning it can be used for alot more then I ever considered.
Not that it even matters, but this is why I never used peace.
I couldn't be bothered to find it in a shop for ages, probably not until 50+. Why? Because I had no use for it. Did I get to dead people to rez without it? Yes. Could I travel though catacombs without it? Yes. Could I crowd control without it? Yep.
And after I learned it, I was in clans from 52+ on that had heavy pvp, so as a bishop did I go strolling around ALONE? Almost never! In fact I even have a screenie where I ported out to EV alone and ran into an enemy clan leader and the first thing he asked was "why does a bishop travel alone?".
So because I didn't use peace, were my parties dropping left and right? God NO. I keep my parties alive and they keep 5+ mobs the heck off me. Did they ask me to travel to the pits of FoG alone? No way!
And calling a healer that doesn't need to heal constantly a exp leech is ridiculous. My clans helped level me when there wasn't much to do for when they DID need all my HEALS, at raids, in pvp, at sieges. It's called foresight and I can thank all of them (Steel, TheBlu, Ferst) in all clans and allies for not once saying OMG WHY DON'T YOU USE PEACE WE'LL ALL DIE.
Is peace useful? Yeah I ran out and tried it, slower than trance, doesn't interupt mobs attacks but it looks useful. I could still live with never using it just the same.
While I fully agree that a healer is not by default a leech in a party, I would argue that you just SAID you were allowed to sponge up because you were needed elsewhere. That said, I don't think you actually sponge, and I doubt the parties are as LOLamazing as your clannie makes them out to be, i.e., they are probably not the kind that make a healer obsolete.
No Ellie, it's not about you not using peace - that's not a problem at all. It's about you laughing at the notion of peace being a useful skill (see page 1), when in fact, it is.
Peace has a few advantages over Trance just like Trance over peace - for one it doesn't build aggro for the healer, it can despawn mobs in an iffy situation (group mob -> kill leader -> peace -> oneshots minions for no EXP), it can help while travelling (it's wonderful if you're in a PvP only clan and can't step outside without a buffed party at your back, but that's generally not the case for most people), if YOU are pulling, it can be used as a follow-up to trance that can stick WHILE a mob is tranced (far away enough for the group not to re-aggro it with social) and will be permanent until you pull from the area again.
There's a whole arsenal of skills, they all have their own use. Nobody would claim Peace is better than Trance, but I don't think the opposite holds true either. I'd kill for having SoE back to its original reset time again.
This is a wonderful example of how a Bishop can play Lineage2 in quite a few different styles. I think it shows that Bishops are an unusually versitile class. Tanks and DDs play the game by smacking on things, alone or in groups, and there isn't much else they do...just smack things with various techniques.
But Bishops? Some party close to 100%, some almost never party. Some heal, some buff, some cata, some don't. Sure, there are lots of limitations that other classes don't have to face. They can kill any mob that isn't too strong, Bishop can only kill one class of mob.
Successful Bishops have to figure out what works for them and we see in this thread that there are Many ways that someone can successfully play a Bishop, but also that most people cannot successfully play one. It takes a special person to roll a healer as a main and a more special one to be able to level it towards end-game.
Given buffs, bishops can kill any mob that is not too strong as well - same as the EE. Just need a melee weapon and not wear the -10 STR tats. : p But that's personal preference - it is a versatile class.
Nobody is a bad bishop because he choses not to use a skill, provided he can still keep his group going and alive. However, mocking the notion of using a perfectly usable skill is arrogant at best.
Man don't read into it that much, all the LOL meant that was I amused myself by recalling why I never learned peace. It wasn't a LOL PEACE SUCKS thing. Honestly. And I'm not in Ferst's clan any more but I'm not going to argue about our parties because no matter what he or I say, someone is going to say we're a bunch of liars so meh.
so theobserver your gonna stand and try peace every single one of the monsters around u when u have 5-6 monsters on u?
Sure i had pp's pulling back in cruma omgozes!
You have got to be the biggest failure at the mechanics of l2 i've ever seen. First off, in the time it takes you to trance 5-6 mobs, run away, and hope you logout before you get hit again, those mobs could have long been peaced and you could be on your merry way.
9 man parties, anywhere, are not the best xp in the game. Show me a 9 man party where you can get 2.5-3% a BUFFROUND at 77.
Invocation, since you are a lvl 78 bishop as you claim, is not affected by any reuse buffs at all, this includes ponybuff, renewal, pow, magnus, etc. Its still 15 minutes, I'm suprised, as a lvl 78 bishop, you didn't test this before telling other people they are [censored].
And for the record, at higher levels peace works absolutely 100% fine, infact, you can take a prophet to fotg and he/she can use peace lvl 1 on the mobs and land it within 3-4 tries.
Peace isn't the solution to every situation, but it definitely has its uses. Especially before you get Trance (yes, I know, if you're not 78, you don't count, but I'll share my opinion on this anyway :)) it's amazingly useful. We're all noobs at one point, so I'll say at least till you get Trance, you should learn this spell. And if you're not someone who likes to pull giant trains and log out (this takes time, and is boring), do learn it. Peace the mobs one by one, as you aggro them.
Use of Peace is highly situational, and it requires the rest of your party to know how it works. That's the tricky part, if you're not on vent with your party. I've attempted to make good use of Peace several times, where people I was partied with just wouldn't listen to my brilliant plan >< This was in the beginning of Franz where people didn't have the uber gear to handle any situation. Yes, my Bishop is only 52, so I guess my opinion doesn't count >>

This is very true, unless your party knows how it works and is willing to listen when you tell them not to attack mobs, it loses much of its purpose.
you make it sound like i surgusted like an IDIOT that u run around in a circle trancing 6 different mobs, are you ******ed? who in the right mind would do that, you must be the most stupid person ive ever met if you really thought thats what i ment lollllll
And Sorry i said i had a 78 bishop, dosnt mean i play it, who the [censored] wants to play a healer active when you can play a 78 hawkeye as their main lol, not that i ever pve anymore cos i dont need to so honestly sorry i havnt testted that new skill in interlude.
9 man party in FOG = 5% an buffround at 77, get ***** more son, oh and u make about 15m each per hour if your calculating drops/adena/recipies
Why do you start each of your posts with an insult to the person you are replying to? Do you think it will make you appear wise or convince people to you way of thinking?
You clearly are committed to this game and have a great deal of experience at it*. Most of the others who post on these boards also have a great deal of game experience.
These boards are to help us improve the game that is best accomplished by civility and maturity. Please let me suggest, in a friendly way, that being nice to other posters will accomplish more than insulting them.
Thanks! Rump :)
*unless you did not personally level this 78 Bishop, 78 archer and other toons you mentioned. If you didn't personally earn all their experience, of course you should be banned from the game for EULA violations.

What kind of party is making 5% an hour at 77? Full party of hawkeyes with boss jewels, bd, sws, warlock and CoV? Or something a bit easier to put together?
yes, tokara is very right, however there is no way in hell that guy is getting 5% a buffround (notice he said buffround, not hour) at 77 in a 9 man party. If you're making that kind of xp then you'd all be lvl 80 and 100% within two weeks, it also means you'd need to know the mechanics of how l2 works, which you've already displayed in this thread you don't know.
