Soulshots and such...what are they used for? my main is only level 10 DE fighter (Hoping to go assasin/abyss walker/ghost hunter) and ive got about 6600 no grade soul shots...and have yet to find a use for them. granted i may need them in the future, im just curious as to what the general use is for... and whats with the weapons? (soulshots used x 2) this means what exactly?
one more question. Abyss Walkers and assasins, can they use dual swords or is it pretty much limited to daggers/swords? i loved my Nelf rogue on WoW so im more than used to dual weilding daggers, is that possible? or is it just dual swords? im trying to get all the info i can on what im about to make before i amke a wasted comitment
They supply extra power to your attacks. Soulshots give extra power to physical attacks and spiritshots give extra power to magical attacks.
If you move them to your shortcut bar and right-click on them it wiil apply them automaticly to your attacks. :)
Assassins/Abyss Walkers can use dual swords. But you wouldn't get much benefit from it as most of your skills will require a dagger.

There are no dual daggers.
Awww no dual daggers? :( they need that...then whats a good class for dual swords?
There are only two. Gladiators and Blade Dancers.

Basically gladiators are damage dealers.

While Blade Dancers are party buffers and damage dealers.

Both are good classes but they have very different playstyles and roles in parties.
I don't want to confuse you with too much info at once. But, beyond knowing to right-click the shots on your hot-bar, there is another prooblem that shows up from time to time. Basically, at times the automation of shots doesn't work. It's a little hard to spot at first. But if you find that you arre killing slow, or you don't see the usual animations from the shots, then you need to take corrective action. You do this by:
1) right-clicking the shots to turn teh automation off
2) dis-arming the weapon (drag into inventory)
3) re-arming the weapon (drag from inventory back to player)
4) right-clicking shots to re-automate
I was in mid-30s on my first character before I figured out this was happening a lot on my sword(s).
Hmm, never had that error like Oldfart describes.

To be clear: Anyone can equip any weapon. But unless you have masteries for that weapon either Generic Weapon Mastery (mystics) or a specific mastery (everyone else) you will not recieve any patk/matk bonuses (via passive masteries) for that weapon. (NOTE: Mystics have been nerfed a bit and now recieve some penalties when equipping a bow or polearm.)

Also, there are no 'Dual' weapon or abilities other than the 'Dual Sword' class of weapons. These are specific items, seperate from the single swords that they are made from. They must be combined by a blacksmith in order to make them 'duals' and held as such.

Damage does not work in L2 like it does in WoW. Buffed critical power (ignoring nukers for now) is where a "DD" gets it's power. Thus, although daggers have the lowest patk value of all weapons they are one of the highest damage (dps) weapons. High critical rate = high power.
