Swoop Cannon

" Player characters who reach level 68 of the Warsmith class will gain access to the Swoop Cannon, a new siege summon.

The Swoop Cannon is a siege servitor designed for attack. It cannot be used to defend. It is different from previous siege servitors in that it can use its skill without switching modes.

It can be summoned only within the Siege War Zone.

46 A Grade Crystals are required for the initial summoning. After it is summoned, B Grade Gemstones are continuously consumed at a rate of 21 per minute.

The Swoop Cannon’s attack goes in the direction it is facing, regardless of whether a target has been selected. Its ranged attack fires in a parabolic arc. All players and NPCs who are near where its shots land — allies, enemies and neutral parties alike — will incur damage. When a shot falls on an ordinary field (non-siege zone), battleground, or the border area of an ordinary field, it damages players on the ordinary field and it incurs a PK penalty.

Shots cannot damage castle walls, doors, or headquarters.

The Swoop Long Shot and Swoop Middle Shot skills cannot be used inside a castle, along the castle wall area, nor outside a battleground.

Flash Gunpowder is consumed during attack. Flash Gunpowder can be purchased in the Town of Schuttgart and Rune Township.

The Swoop Cannon disappears when it is defeated. "

One Word: USELESS
So what's your complaint?
I believe they were thinking anti-personnel.
complaint:
1. cost - not only to construct it, but that it uses Flash Gunpowder during it's use as well as B gemstones at a rate of 21 per minute.
2. fact that the AOE does not distinguish foe from friend.
3. can only constrcut it in a siege war zone but can incure pk penalty if targets (friend or foe) are outside of zone and killed.
4. if AOE skills from other players can distinguish friend from foe, then why can this not do the same?

just a few ... :P
1. ...and tell me, can it be erased by any buffpet roaming around siegefield?
3. This is tricky, because there was a bug in C5 where parts of siegefield were not considered as battlefield, but as normal zone. Was this fixed?

I'd imagine it'd be for major clans. High damage = High Cost

2. fact that the AOE does not distinguish foe from friend.
Then shoot at the enemy? :p

3. can only constrcut it in a siege war zone but can incure pk penalty if targets (friend or foe) are outside of zone and killed.
Just like any other skill.

4. if AOE skills from other players can distinguish friend from foe, then why can this not do the same?
Again, shoot at the enemy in the castle, and stop when your people go in. Unsummon it then so you save some cash ;)
1. i would venture to say YES to this - as ncsoft still see's golems as servitors and summons vice a construct (which it should be reclassified as).
3. unknown....but do you think anyone would dare to expend the adena and/or mats to test this theory?

1. i can agree - but doubt very highly that it will be used anyway. considering the earse subject was mentioned in a previous reply.
2. very few times in a siege is the enemy not intwined with allies. maybe a more accurate number regarding the range would help determine if the effectiveness of the shot could be used without sending in the troops.
3. yes and no. if it can only be bult inside a siege zone then it should not incure the pk penalties as other skills do. it should be immune to this since its birth is inside a combat zone.
4. you failed to offer a productive answer to this reason. why can it not tell the difference of friend or foe as other AOE skills do? either offer the same friend or foe distinction as other AOE's or change other AOE's to match the inablilty of this.
that the cannons aoe attack can hurt friend and foe seems fair to me. because thats how it would be in a real world situation with any siege weapon.
I'd rather have a siege device that is more sniper related. Dwarf crafts it, party leader controls it and what happens is for as long as the device stands the controller can aquire a "zoom" effect and target and shoot players at a very long range (within the siege zone of course). Basically to kill the buffers and healers standing fairly safely in the back line (at least that would be fun and maybe worth the price of making it). This non-targeting cannon that does AoE damage to everything BUT the actual castle walls or doors, seems like another waste of SP to learn.

Because Dwarves, Elves, Dark Elves and all this magic also happen in real world situations.
I'd simply use it for anti-personnel on the walls when you're trying to take down one.
Nobody should be near the walls until they're down anyway.

My point in general was that it has a very specialized use, but it DOES have a use :P
i can see yur point and i agree with it to a degree.

my point is that it is basically useless still as an effective tool for a siege.
aside from all the points mentioned, i also came to the conclusion that since a dwarf has to be inside the siege grounds to 'summon' said item, then it is fair to say that an attack will be imminent at the time to kill the dwarf before he can even summon it.
in addition, very few siege grounds leave room to summon before an attack party can make an appearance or shoot it as well from the same distance.

i would like to know what distance the cannnon has though...

For the record, I think the AoE skills from other players shouldn't have a built-in IFF either.

thank you....i thought i was the only one who saw this.

an thanks for the IFF - forgot the abbreviated version when i was thinking about it....:P
