Collaborative CRM, the new head hunting scam...

Greetings,

I was struck lately by a new CRM scam. You see a company will target you with a specific entry message (something that touches you personnaly). Usually used by sites you haven't visited in a long time. Used by sites that charge a monthly fee in order to recycle subscriptions or to create new ones form a specific target group.

The scam is that now 3rd party companies control this sensitive information, and use it to their advantage. It's the new weapon of the gaming company, they pick their gamers directly from other games.

Here is a small example that could apply to L2 :

You recycle birthdates and e-mail addresses of abandonned accounts. Software dispatches messages at birthdays : Happy Birthday from the Staff at L2 Forums ! You add some flavor to the message with a description of new features. Some even push in a present (free trials for prospects and free time for abandonned accounts).

This message may or may not have been brought to you by a Jedi.

Greetings,

Welcome warning of the dark side this be...

The warning is only good if IT is followed.

The funny thing is, IF I talk about something serious, only the VERY clever will pick up on IT.

So to most, IT's just dribble. Of course. Just think what you want. Cheese whix is not good for your health.

L2 is also bad for your health, but what are you gonna do ?
