The first time i suggested using MSN to build a massive cross server list of friends. It would keep us in contact with each other no matter what server we would be on.
The idea crashed and burned.
A few months i resurrect the idea only to have the idea go up like a nuke.
So here's try number #3
Give me reasons why this can't and isn't a good idea.......
I like your idea. Allow me to build upon it a bit...
NC should make a message client of their own. Take out MSN Messenger completely. Say I have a friend that used to play L2 and he went to COH, just select their game, server, and name...and communicate back and forth. Could also work with inter-server (for one game) communication.
It would work essentially like MSN, but could encompass NCSoft games only. I'm not sure about the exact mechanics of it, but the idea of an Inter-Server/Inter-Game Messenger seems cool.

The mechanics are very easy. MSN is based on UDP chat, wich is a very easy socket to summon.
IG msn suxx.
and just by the fact that one MORE, meaning NC, is watching your msn (that you could chat with someone out of L2) makes me unhappy to use it
hmmm maybe i missunderstood the purpose of the msn thing then (no - i do not use it in game or out for that matter).
i thought you could chat via msn from one server to another...hence msn messenger it is called.
and i have seen a chat pgm available that the one poster was seeking for game to game chat - just do not recall the name or origin as to where i saw it.

Possibility is there, but i don't know what the benefits would be by NCSoft doing that.
Nevertheless i don't use MSN Messenger anyways and the time i used it in L2 i found it going offline pretty often ...

I don't want to chat while I"m leveling. It's satisfying enough to see my clannies in clan/alliance chat. But when people pm me I have to stop what I am doing.
It's ok for a little bit but if people were always pm'ing me I would never get any leveling done.
I don't use the MSN messenger while playing L2 for one main reason... it's none of NCSoft's business what I talk about while I play, especially if I'm talking to someone playing another game.
If NCS stopped monitoring my chat windows, I might consider using it. Though I realize that they can monitor and log everything I say and do in-game, my use of another (and permitted!) application, such as MSN Messenger, doesn't give them carte blanche to log my conversations.
Not that I have anything to hide or anything, it's simply the principle of the thing. What I talk about, even if I'm just chatting with my sister about travel plans, is none of NCSoft's business.
